True confession: I may be the only person in the United States who dramatically slid down a wall and let out a tortured “Nooooooo!!!!” after learning that American Idol will eventually cut back to one night a week midway through Season 14.
After three consecutive hump days of middling vocals, “heard it all before” backstories and not nearly enough scenes of Ryan Seacrest getting bear-hugged by jubilant families, however, I’m reconsidering my stance.
Perhaps, in a world where orange is the new black and Idris Elba could/should be the next 007, less is destined to be the new more...

When a great project is in development, directors attempt to join that project by convincing producers that they're the right people for the job. One of the ways of getting that done is to put together a video, comprised of footage from other films, giving the producers an idea of the style and tone that they will bring. Today we have Rian Johnson's pitch video for "Looper." We know that he went on to direct the sci-fi movie, but it took footage from such films as "Se7en," "Fight Club," and "Blade Runner" to comprise a video that eventually convinced investors that he should be given an opportunity to direct the movie. "This is a fairly common thing to do when you're trying to get a movie off the ground, but it was the first time I tried it," Johnson explained. "It was meant to show more some of the film's tone,...

Every summer has one: The song of the summer. That song you just can't stop playing. The song the radio won't stop playing. The song that's on in the club and at the beach and will remind you of this year—this summer—every time you hear it for the rest of your life. So what is 2014's song? Here's what our E! Online coworkers had to say: "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea featuring Charli Xcx Jenna Mullins: "Because I could not stop singing to myself anywhere I went: 'Who dat? Who dat? I-g-g-y" for weeks. Weeks." Zach Johnson: "Because 'Fancy' was so omnipresent, I learned that Iggy Azalea and Azalea Banks are indeed different people....

It's not easy getting any movie made these days, but making an ambitious R-rated sci-fi movie that isn't based on a previous property, like "Looper" for example, is damn near impossible.
When director Rian Johnson finished the screenplay for "Looper," he created a proof of concept trailer that would help explain the look and feel of the movie and prove that it could be marketable to the producers who could someday fund the movie.
That trailer made its way online last week and should be interesting to anyone who saw and enjoyed "Looper."
You can check out the trailer and read Johnson's explanation of it after the jump!
The proof of concept video slices together footage from other movies like "Seven" and "Blade Runner" and features a voiceover from Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Director Rian Johnson has released a great pitch trailer he made to help shop around his latest movie Looper. If I was an executive at a studio and I saw this concept pitch trailer I'd be like, "Hell yeah! Let's do this!" Thankfully there were some executives with good taste that were thinking the same thing when they saw it!
Here's what Johnson had to say about the pitch...
This is a strange curiosity I thought might be interesting - just after I finished the script for Looper but before we began preproduction I asked Joe to record some voice-over, and with help from my friend Ronen Verbit constructed this "fake trailer" using clips from other movies. This is a fairly common thing to do when you're trying to get a movie off the ground, but it was the first time I tried it. It was meant to show more some of the film's tone,...

After finishing the script for Looper, writer/director Rian Johnson developed a pitch reel for the film in collaboration with his brother Zach Johnson, Ronen Verbit and even bringing Joseph Gordon-Levitt in to voice the piece. You'll notice scenes from films such as Blade Runner, Seven, The Fugitive and J.J. Abrams' Star Trek are included in brief snippets to help present an idea for the tone of the film while also helping show how the rather odd story could be presented on film. Here's how Johnson describes it: This is a strange curiosity I thought might be interesting - just after I finished the script for Looper but before we began preproduction I asked Joe to record some voice-over, and with help from my friend Ronen Verbit constructed this "fake trailer" using clips from other movies. Team Europe staged a historic comeback to beat the USA 14½ to 13½ in Medinah, Illinois. On a remarkable third day, Jose Maria Olazabal’s men won an amazing eight of the twelve single matches, halving another, and in the process retained the Ryder Cup. For golf fans both new and old, it was a fantastic spectacle and the quality of the golf under such intense pressure was impressive.
Starting the day four points behind, Europe knew they needed a good start if they were to stand any chance of achieving the fourteen points needed to bring the Cup home. Ian Poulter’s remarkable play in the fourballs on Saturday evening had given the side hope and Luke Donald raced into the lead against Bubba Watson. Rory McIlory, having made a dramatic late arrival in a police car after getting his time zones mixed up, was not caught sleeping as he went ahead against Keegan Bradley.

Now this is definitely the best trailer that I’ve seen in a while. If you can’t get enough of Rian Johnson‘s Looper, and even if you’re excited for the movie but want to avoid spoilers, this awesome animated trailer is for you.
If you’re still unfamiliar with the film, here’s the official synopsis:
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by...

Hollywoodnews.com: For one Sunday afternoon, Tiger Woods was back where he hasn’t been in far too long.
On top.
Once considered the world’s best golfer, Woods has been mired in a devastating slump. After health problems (and personal, off-the-course struggles) damaged his game, Woods endured crucial rehabilitation in a fight to get back into the winner’s circle. It finally happened Sunday afternoon, as Tiger topped fellow golfer Zach Johnson by one stroke at the Chevron World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, California.
It was Woods’ first win in two years.
Could this be the beginning of a stellar comeback?
“In recent weeks, though, Woods’ play and confidence steadily had improved, and now he has a win to validate the effort,” writes Jim Peltz of the Los Angeles Times.
Reuters’ Mark Lamport-Stokes agrees, stating, “While some will argue that Tiger Woods’ long-awaited return to...

I remember attending an EA press event that showcased a lot of their sports titles, and while most people were getting into the newest soccer, basketball, and boxing titles for Xbox and PS3, or even trying their luck with EA Sports Active, which was coming out soon, I spent most of my time with an iPhone in my hand.
I got to play with the Tiger Woods PGA Tour App Game several months before it was released, and I couldn't put it down. It was, for me anyway, one of the first truly impressive App games.
Now we have a new version, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12, and it's available for the iPad as well as an iPhone App.
It's the same basic gameplay, though after messing with it a bit, I like the responsiveness of the swing a lot better, and putting is clearly less annoying, with a somewhat updated theory working behind it.

Here’s an Indian print ad for Shivam “deep sleep” mattresses, featuring the caricatured likeness of a certain sex-obsessed golfer dreaming about his harem of ladies (it really doesn’t look a thing like Zach Johnson): Following the logic of the ad, if Tiger Woods is presumably obsessed with sex and dreaming of ladies anyway because he’s Tiger Woods, then what purpose is this specific mattress actually serving other than just letting him sleep like a regular mattress? Or are we assuming that the fallout from Woods’ scandal was so affecting, he can no longer dream of ladies unless he’s getting a special super deep sleep only Shivam can provide? I really hope Tiger Woods was sitting at home this morning thinking to himself “Welp, looks like that scandal is finally behind me, and I made it out without going insane — One more insult might’ve pushed me over the edge,...
