London-based festival to open with Oh Lucy! with Josh Hartnett.
The 25th Raindance Film Festival (Sept 21 -Oct 2) has revealed the majority of its line-up and jury members.
The international premiere of Atsuko Hirayanagi’s Oh Lucy! (USA), starring Josh Hartnett, is the opening night film of the London-based event. The closing night film will be announced later this month.
The competition jury includes ex-bifa director Johanna Von Fischer, Spanish producer Rosa Bosch and actors Jamie Campbell Bower (Twilight), Jack O’Connell (Unbroken), Sean Bean (Game Of Thrones), Christopher Eccleston (Dr Who), Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting), Celia Imrie (Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Training Day), Nicholas Lyndhurst (Only Fools and Horses), Hakeem Kae-Kazim (Hotel Rwanda), Josh Whitehouse (Northern Soul), Neil Marshall (Game Of Thrones) and Rachel Portman (Chocolat).
They will preside over awards for a competition line-up that features the European premiere of Koichiro Miki’s Noise and the world premiere of Evald Johnson’s High & Outside: A Baseball...

Lakes International comic art festival eschews superhero model to give women writers and artists equal billing
There's a new kind of comic event coming to our shores, modelled not on the superhero-focused all-American approach, but on a much closer neighbour: the European comic festival. With founder patrons including the Costa prize-winning Mary and Bryan Talbot, the Lakes International comic art festival has an eclectic guest list, from the artist of The Walking Dead, Charlie Adlard, to the graphic journalist Joe Sacco.
And unlike a fair number of other conventions, which have come under fire in the past few years for only inviting only one or two women guests – if any – this weekend's event taking over the whole of Kendal, Cumbria, aims to include talents old and new from both sides of the gender divide.

London, Mar h 24: Katie Price has lashed out at former Wonderbra model Katie Green for blaming her for her ten-year-old son Harvey's disabilities during a live TV show.
The mum-of-three, who is expecting her fourth child this year, rubbished the scandalous slurs, saying that the vile lie makes her so angry, the Sun reported.
The panicky producers of Loaded TVs 'Loose Women' tried to scramble the sound in a bid to prevent the claims being broadcasted.
They also quickly removed any evidence of the conversation last month from their website, but a clip was leaked on to an online forum. (Ani)...
