Amy Adams has been in development with Nightbitch for over a year, but details have now started to surface as the neo-horror film has recently released a new poster from Searchlight Pictures. The film has been written and directed by Marielle Heller (Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Nightbitch is based on a novel by Rachel Yoder. The film will tell the story of “a suburban mom thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler. As she embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a dog.”
Adams plays that possibly canine housewife. Scoot McNairy (Monsters) is also in the cast, playing her “oft-traveling husband,” while Mary Holland, who is best known for appearing in the Netflix release Senior Year and for co-writing and co-starring in Clea DuVall’s romantic comedy Happiest Season, takes on an unspecified role.

Marielle Heller is a young American filmmaker known for her debut feature The Diary of a Teenage Girl, as well as for the Tom Hanks-led A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which told the story of Fred Rogers, one of America’s most famous television presenters. Well, the filmmaker has taken on a new project, which will be released later this year, and we can already confirm that it will be something wholly different than Heller’s work so far, but with the cast involved and the surreal story, it promises to be a very exciting feature.
The movie in question is going to be titled Nightbitch, and it is slated for a December 6, 2024 release. The movie will be based on the eponymous book by Rachel Yoder, which deals with the issues of motherhood from a very surreal and different perspective, showing how it can be both horrid and hilarious at the same time.

Based on what I can gather about her new film, At the Sea, Amy Adams needs a pair of sandals and a stiff drink. Adams is teaming up with Kornel Mundruczó and Kata Wéber – the director and writer of Pieces of a Woman and White God – for a new drama about rejuvenation and adjusting to a life you had not planned to live.
According to Deadline, At the Sea finds Adams’s Laura returning to her family at their holiday beach house after a long rehabilitation. Once there, Laura must readjust to her new lot in life, still haunted by aspects she tried to leave behind. Staring down the barrel of a new chapter of her life, Laura must cope without her fame, fortune, and, of all things, her identity.
Adams, a six-time Academy Award-nominated actress, recently wrapped production on the sci-fi drama Klara and the Sun, which Taika Waititi directs.

With each passing year, cataloguing the best TV shows of the previous 365 days becomes harder and harder. That which we call “television” is such an enormous, broad concept that it seems impossible to even categorize it, let alone rank it in a neat fashion. Basically any TV show you could ever dream of can be found with the right combination of cable packages and streaming subscriptions.

Feel like watching a bespoke eight-episode saga that brings the works of Edgar Allan Poe to the present day for a political horror satire about the opioid epidemic? Off to Netflix you go. You’re gonna have to try harder than that to trick the algorithm.

Apple is not moving forward with another season of “Central Park,” Variety has confirmed.
Previously, series star Josh Gad, who also serves as EP and writer, shared the news over the weekend on social media, telling fans “Sadly, it’s done” when asked about the show’s return.
The animated comedy follows “Owen Tillerman and his family live an unconventional life in New York’s bustling Central Park, which Owen manages; now, they’ll have to fend off a wealthy hotel heiress who wants to turn the park into condos,” per the series description.
Season 3, which was released on Sept. 9, picked up with Kristen Bell in a new role on the show. Bitsy continued her pursuit to buy the park as Owen took on a new promotional campaign to make more people fall in love with it. Meanwhile, Paige wound up busier than ever after landing her first book deal.

David Harbour spoke with io9 about playing Eric Frankenstein in Creature Commandos, the upcoming animated series which will serve as the first official project in the new DC Universe.
David Harbour was full of praise for the character of Frankenstein, both in literature and the Creature Commandos series. “The most interesting thing to me about Frankenstein’s monster in general is that he was created to be this sort of erudite, intellectual, romantic, brilliant person, and he winds up being a monster,” Harbour said. “I mean, that complexity can make for some pretty ripe comedy and also pathos—that a guy who considers himself one thing, is viewed by others as something very different. Chapter One of James Gunn's new cinematic DC Comics universe is titled "Gods and Monsters." This phrase goes back to a line of dialogue from Dr. Septimus Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger) in James Whale's "Bride of Frankenstein." How fitting then that "Gods and Monsters" kicks off with a Frankenstein-inspired animated TV series: "Creature Commandos."
The premise is simple: A World War II comic in the vein of Marvel's "Sergeant Fury and his Howling Commandos" but with Universal Horror monsters. The original line-up was Lieutenant Matthew Shrieve (a normal human team leader), Sergeant Vincent Velcoro (a vampire), Private Lucky Taylor (a Frankenstein-ian homunculus), Private Warren Griffith (a werewolf), and team medic Dr. Myrra Rhodes (a Medusa-esque Gorgon).
The team was created by legendary writer J.M. DeMatteis and artist Pat Broderick; the Creature Commandos debuted in 1980's "Weird War Tales" #93. Now, an updated version of the team will make it...

Is it a sign of the changing, dwindling (?) times, or is it just akin to a VOD release? Either way, the well-regarded SXSW genre film, “If You Were the Last,” starring Anthony Mackie and Zoë Chao as astronauts in a sci‑fi rom‑com, just had its trailer released, and the film comes out… today. How’s that for heads-up marketing?
As the title suggests, the film is about…not the last two people on Earth, but certainly, the last two people at the end of a long space expedition.

It’s lights out on The Afterparty. Apple TV+ has canceled the murder-mystery comedy after two seasons. Apple nixed the series in part because of a post-strike reevaluation of its streaming series, according to Deadline sources. The Afterparty debuted in January 2022, created by Chris Miller and executive-produced by Phil Lord as part of the pair’s five-year overall deal with Apple TV+. Season 1 told the story of a murder at a high school reunion through the perspectives of different guests, with each episode boasting its own visual style based on popular film genres. That first season starred Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Zoë Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Jamie Demetriou, and Dave Franco. Season 2 premiered this July, with Haddish, Richardson, and Chao reprising their roles in a tale about a murder at a wedding. John Cho, Paul Walter Hauser, Ken Jeong, Anna Konkle, Poppy Liu, Elizabeth Perkins, Jack Whitehall,...

The party's over.
Apple TV+ has canceled The Afterparty after two seasons, Deadline reports.
The decision comes weeks after the conclusion of The Afterparty Season 2.
Thankfully, each season of the series is designed to be self-contained, meaning fans were not left hanging over a cliff about what would have happened next.
Resolution is necessary for a show of The Afterparty's caliber, which begins its seasons with a murder before having Tiffany Haddish's Detective Danner investigating the pool of suspects.
The investigation is infused with humor, red herrings, and everything you'd expect from a series that doesn't want to tell you the killer's identity until the season finale.
It's unclear how well the show performed on Apple TV+ because the streaming service keeps those viewership statistics under lock and key.

Apple is breaking up The Afterparty.
The tech giant’s Apple TV+ streaming service has canceled The Afterparty after two seasons. The news comes a month and change after the genre-hopping comedic murder mystery finished its second season.
Sony Pictures Television, which produces the series, will look to find another home for The Afterparty. The show tells a self-contained story with each season.

Updated: There will be no third season for Apple TV+s The Afterparty. The streamer has canceled the murder mystery comedy series after two seasons, Deadline has confirmed. The decision comes a month after Season 2 ended its run.
The studio behind the critically praised series, Sony Pictures Television, plans to shop it to other platforms.

DC co-Boss James Gunn took to Instagram’s Threads to field fan questions, and in the process confirmed that Xolo Maridueña will continue to play Blue Beetle, Oscar winner Viola Davis will still be Amanda Waller and John Cena will remain Peacemaker.
Much of this isn’t shocking, as Gunn has already specified on social that Maridueña will continue to play Blue Beetle in the DC universe, this despite the fact that the Latino superhero movie performed so-so at the box office, earning over $70M domestic, and $125M WW. In addition, we already knew that a season 2 of Peacemaker on Max was in the works.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for the Season 2 finale of “The Afterparty,” now streaming on Apple TV+.
Instead of deciding on who would make the perfect killer, the writers of Season 2 of “The Afterparty” began their journey by selecting a murder weapon.
“It started with thinking that it should be poison, and then thinking that the glass of the poison goes on a journey and doesn’t reach its intended target,” says series creator Chris Miller. “That would help us create a character who doesn’t have an obvious motive to kill the victim, but then we would need that character to have another secret or murder that’s intended. And what could that be?”
Season 2 followed Aniq (Sam Richardson), Zoë (Zoe Chao) and Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish) as they find themselves embroiled in a new murder investigation: that of Edgar Minnows (Zach Woods), the husband of Zoë’s...

[Editor’s note: This article contains spoilers for “The Afterparty” Season 2, including the finale.]
If you paid attention to Season 1 of “The Afterparty,” the answer was obvious.
The high school reunion murder of Xavier (Dave Franco) at the hands of a classmate introduced viewers to Christopher Miller’s multigenre Apple TV+ series, in which each suspect recounts the night’s events as they experienced it. The murderer turned out to be the one with the most outlandish, exaggerated, and discrepant story of the bunch: Yasper (Ben Schwartz), who viewed the night as a wish-fulfilling musical.
Yasper was motivated by jealousy and revenge, the same emotions shared by Xavier’s other classmates but in comparatively low doses and without the means and opportunity. In Season 2 there’s a helluva lot of truly murderous motive; the unfaithful wife, the financially doomed father-in-law, the jealous sister, the gaslit mother, the disgraced business partner. After nine episodes, there was no obvious liar...

“The Afterparty” has placed all sorts of lenses on its murder mystery wedding romp in Season 2: the generic conventions of rom-com and film noir, specific directorial styles like Alfred Hitchcock’s and Wes Anderson’s, and even whole modes of filmmaking as in Feng’s (Ken Jeong) found-footage episode peppered with vertical iPhone videos ready for TikTok.
The sheer number of different visual styles the show needs is a challenge, but so is creating a “normal” look for the present-day interrogation scenes with Danner (Tiffany Haddish), Aniq (Sam Richardson), and Zoë (Zoe Chao). Working out the feeling of that grounding “home base” look was as challenging as crafting the show’s most extreme visual styles, and in both cases required cinematographer Ross Riege to do a lot of calibrating in order to get it right — and then keep it straight.

We’ve lost count of how many times we wrote about Dceu ending and Dcu kicking off to replace it soon. We are all very familiar with the situation, and right now, we can only wait to see what Dcu has in store for us once Dceu releases the last two movies on its slate; ‘Blue Beetle,’ which is only a few days away, and ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ which will be released this December. In 2024, we can expect an Elseworlds movie ‘Joker: Folie à Deux.’ But, before Dcu kicks off with ‘Superman: Legacy’ in 2025, the first of many projects that Gunn announced earlier this year, ‘Creature Commandos,’ will also premiere in 2024.

There are some actors who, once they dip their fingers into the comic book genre, they’re here to stay. David Harbour is certainly one of those actors. Harbour started his career playing supporting roles in various movies and tv shows before he gained wider recognition thanks to the role of Jim Hopper in Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things,’ which launched his career to a higher level. After that, it was a matter of time before he joined some big franchises like Marvel and DC. And check this out; now he’s part of both.
Maybe you didn’t even notice it at first, but Harbour played a minor role in David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’ in 2016. He played Dexter Tolliver, a National Security Advisor for the President, who supported Amanda Waller’s idea of Task Force X, commonly known as Suicide Squad. In 2020, Harbour debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Alexei Shostakov,...

And true to her word, for most of the interview, she kept her eyes closed. It was a first for me. But for some reason it worked. Especially if she had a case to solve.
