Ahead of the film’s world premiere at Fantasia this summer, the next film from The Adams Family has received a release date this week.
Shudder will premiere Hell Hole on August 23, Rue Morgue first reported.
Fantasia previews, “A road trip through Canadian oil fields conjured up fantasies of secrets deep in the dirt for the Adams family, and inspired them to create Hell Hole, an indie rock-n-roll monster movie set at a far-away fracking site.
“Known for their DIY ethos, John and Lulu Adams and Toby Poser, partnering with Shudder, have joined the team behind The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs and FX legend Todd Masters to shoot their latest in Serbia with a local cast and crew.
“Absurd, mutinous, and transgressively comical, Hell Hole is old-school sci-fi horror, yet in typical family fashion, they subvert the genre with textures of biological and environmental horror in tandem with...

The talented Adams Family’s hit film “Hellbender” was ranked No. 1 on Rotten Tomatoes Top 10 of best-rated horror films of 2022. Their most recent film, “Where the Devil Roams,” was purchased by Tubi after premiering at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival on July 27th.
Alongside parents John and Toby Adams, sisters Zelda and Lulu are experiencing a meteoric rise in the horror genre. In addition to writing her first feature length screenplay, Lulu was recently spotted on set of the new Coleman Brothers movie, portraying the character “Eleanor.”
Like her inaugural screenplay (which recently wrapped production), not much has been publicly announced about the new Coleman Brothers movie.
So far, we know that it’s a vampire movie and that it’s written and directed by Vince and James Coleman. We also know that Lulu’s character “Eleanor” gets turned and becomes a bloodsucker. Not much else is known about the movie as of right now.

Welcome to Give Me the Fear, a new Frightfest 2023 preview series hosted by screenwriter Stuart Wright.
These brief, spoiler-free interviews will – across the entire series – help you to discover the kind of knowledge and experience about how to make indie horror films that they don’t teach at film school.
After looking back at the blood, sweat and tears that went into their creative successes, I ask them one last question: If you could hand pick one person to be in the audience for your Frightfest screening, who would it be and why? I think you going to love the answers this question elicits.
This episode covers Where the Devil Roams, Pandemonium (feat. Quarxx) & The Sacrifice Game (feat. Jenn Wexler)

Fresh, raw and bewitching indie folk horror Hellbender will grip fans with a story that has real bite, promising one hell of a ride. As unnerving and gruesome as it is beautiful and enticing, this captivating, unsettling and hellish feature will push audiences to the brink. Written and directed by genre trailblazers, the Adams Family, the film is certified fresh with a 97 score on Rotten Tomatoes. The sixth feature from the family collective who write, direct, produce, score, edit and act in all of their films, Hellbender had its world premiere at Fantasia International Film Festival 2021, where it garnered two wins and a nomination for Best Actress, Best Motion Picture Score and Best Film, respectively.

In his latest podcast/interview, host and screenwriter Stuart Wright talks with the hardest working family in genre cinema today – the Adams Family. They write, shoot, star and post-produce all their work. They are Toby Poser (mum), John Adams (dad), Lulu Adams (eldest) and Zelda Adams. Hellbender is their sixth film made together; their second genre film after the surprise (to the unsuspecting horror world) hit The Deeper You Dig (2019).
16 year-old Izzy leads an isolated life on a lonely mountaintop. All she’s learned is from her protective mom and the wilderness that swallows them. Questioning her illness and starved for companionship, Izzy sneaks down the mountain where she befriends brazen Amber. Izzy is in heaven, until a cruel drinking game with a live worm unleashes a new kind of hunger. Confused and scared, Izzy appeals to Mom for answers. But Mom’s secrets are as old and dark as...

Teenager Izzy (Zelda Adams) lives a lonely life with her mother (Toby Poser), their house isolated deep in the Catskill Mountains. That scenic seclusion is no accident. Her mother has gone through enormous efforts to keep Izzy largely away from people since she was five. For her own protection, and perhaps for that of others. They spend their days being each others’ best friends, teaching one another and making music in their two-piece rock band, H6llb6nd6r. As Izzy begins to grow more into herself, she starts venturing into town, spending time with other people, and a sharp thirst for deeper knowledge is stirred. Knowledge of self, and also of her family’s mysterious history… with witchcraft.

Trouble looms when a 16-year-old monster meets a less supernatural teen in this impressive low-budget tale made by a team of close relations
Sixteen-year-old Izzy (Zelda Adams) lives in a house in the woods with her mother (Toby Poser) where she is being home-schooled because she has an auto-immune disease that makes her vulnerable to infections from other people. That and the fact that both mother and child are witch-like creatures called hellbenders who live for many decades, feed off mostly moss and seed cones, and reproduce asexually like ferns. But they’re happy together, mostly: they have a mini punk band, in which Izzy plays the drums (she’s pretty good), mum plays a mean bass, and they sing songs about the apocalypse and murdering while wearing face paint. It’s not exactly clear how they afford petrol or pay for new picks and drum sticks when needed, but...
