Jared Leto’s Morbius underwhelmingly performed at the global box office on its theatrical release but gained momentum when released online. Whatever the outcome went, the lead actor has already expressed his opinion on reprising his role which aligns with Fast X star, Tyrese Gibson.

The latter is currently occupied with promoting his new project, Bloodline Killer but when it comes to joining the Spider-Man Universe, he’s more open to the idea, which doesn’t fit well among the fandom.

Jared Leto’s tenure as Dr. Michael Morbius was set to explore more of the Spider-Man Universe in detail but Morbius didn’t turn out to be a promising project. Although the movie was unable to captivate audiences or critics’ interest, the movie’s post-credit scenes hinted at an installment.

Although it may have fared enough to make up for any losses, Morbius is still unarguably one of the most critically panned movies of all time from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite holding hot talents like Michael Keaton, Tyrese Gibson, and Jared Leto, the film still underperformed among viewers because of things ranging from its storyline to the character arcs to not delivering perfectly.
Morbius (2022).
That being said, one of the major reasons why the film failed to serve its audience’s expectations was because it cut off some of those brutal scenes that could have garnered a lot of fan support. One of these included Gibson’s crazy fight scene as well, which was shown in the trailer but never made it to the final cut — something that inevitably left even the actor disappointed.

Last year, John Leguizamo revealed that he was in talks with Marvel Studios to play the Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Though Michael Keaton ultimately signed on to play the character, the Batman actor was reportedly hesitant to commit at first, and Marvel had Leguizamo lined up in case negotiations fell through.
Apparently, Leguizamo was told that the role was his prior to Keaton agreeing to play the part.
“I was supposed to be the Vulture,” Leguizamo said at the time. “We had negotiated and I was about to play him, and they said that Michael Keaton wanted it back and they asked me if I would give it up. I said, ‘Well, okay I guess.’ They said, ‘No, we’ll work with you again, we’re gonna…’ That’s what happened there.”

This Doctor Who article contains spoilers.
From 1963 to 2020, the title character of Doctor Who belonged to an alien species from Gallifrey, generally known as Time Lords. Throughout the wibbly-wobbly Who canon, not all Gallifreyans are Time Lords, but all Time Lords were certainly two-hearted Gallifreyans, and the Doctor was always both. That is, until they weren’t. In the 2020 Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) episode “The Timeless Children,” it was revealed that the Doctor was actually the first Time Lord, and that the ability to regenerate was harvested from them, and then integrated into Time Lord culture. Basically, the Doctor was still a Time Lord, but the actual background of the originating species they hailed from, became a retroactive mystery.
And now, in the 2024 Doctor Who “season one” the newly bi-generated Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) is mentioning this new canon a lot. Here’s how Doctor Who is honoring this controversial continuity change,...

One of the upcoming comic book movies that has me more curious than excited is the Morbius movie starring Jared Leto. When I first heard this movie was announced, I just wondered if it was the right move. First of all, does this particular character comic book character even deserve his own solo movie? The average comic book fan might not even know who he is, but all you need to know is that he’s pretty much a vampire. On the surface, he doesn’t sound like an interesting character, but he does have one thing going for him. If you

Obviously, if you want to get straight, factual answers out of actors in an interview about a superhero film, that’s a fool’s errand. These people are trained in the art of deflection and avoidance when pressed to give spoiler-y details. But in the case of the interview with Tyrese Gibson and Comicbook.com, it appears the actor not only shouldn’t have opened up about certain topics, but he was actually flat-out wrong when giving his answers regarding “Morbius” and its involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Confusion and uncertainty would be good descriptors of how fans feel about Tom Holland’s future as “Spider-Man.” Sony Pictures‘ has multiple ‘Spider-Man’ spinoffs in the works developing their splinter cinematic universe featuring characters such as Venom, Carnage, Morbius, and Kraven, among others, but how does Spider-Man factor into those projects given, he’s so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which seems fairly disconnected from Sony’s Spider-verse?

When director David Leitch and Brad Pitt told Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group President Sanford Panitch that they were keen to cast Aaron Taylor-Johnson for the ensemble thriller “Bullet Train,” Panitch wasn’t super-aware of the British actor.
“It was a ‘I had to look him up’ kind of thing,” Panitch tells Variety. “I didn’t have a lot of familiarity. And then we start watching these incredible dailies [from ‘Bullet Train’], and you really see the full-on action star. He’s charming and he’s funny and he’s holding his own against Brad Pitt. A lot of people can’t do that.”
Taylor-Johnson — who also headlined the R-rated comic book hero franchise “Kick-Ass” and played Quicksilver in Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Age of Ultron” — so impressed Panitch that he instantly shot to the top of the list for “Kraven the Hunter,” the long-gestating adaptation of the Marvel comics anti-hero and...

This Castlevania article contains spoilers.
While Netflix’s Castlevania has always ultimately been about the heroes’ eternal fight against Dracula, the fourth and final season does introduce a few new villains to the mix. One of those baddies is Varney of London, a two-bit vampire who was once one of Dracula’s generals and has now made it his mission to resurrect his master. The only problem is that the foul-mouthed bloodsucker is kind of a joke, a has-been who even his vampiric cohorts don’t respect.
Voiced by the legendary Malcolm McDowell, Varney is leading a gruesome siege in the city of Targoviste, which he’d hoped to conquer and gift to Dracula before the vampire lord’s untimely death. The city lies in ruins, with the human survivors slowly starving to death in the streets while the king and queen hide underground. Varney is winning but for whom?...

2Nd Update, April 30: The long awaited Marvel vampire movie Morbius will go a week later on Jan. 28 instead of Jan. 21. Rather than staying alone on Jan. 21, where there is no wide entry competition, Sony has decided to go head-to-head with Universal/Blumhouse’s Scott Derrickson-directed horror film The Black Phone on its new date.
On its Jan. 21 date, Morbius was playing in the MLK wake of Paramount/Spyglass’ Scream, Sony’s The Man From Toronto, Universal’s The 355 and United Artist Releasing’s wider break of Cyrano.
Updated, Jan. 21: Hours after MGM moved No Time to Die onto Oct. 8, Sony is now pushing its Marvel movie Morbius to Jan. 21, 2022, which is the weekend after MLK. Sony will have access to all Imax screens for Morbius. The movie remains the only wide release dated for its respective weekend.

Adria Arjona is ready to walk down the aisle with Andy Garcia. She has been tapped to play Garcia’s daughter and the bride-to-be in Warner Bros and Plan B’s reboot of Father of the Bride. Gaz Alazraki has been set to helm the studio’s new reboot, which will revolve around a Cuban-American family, with Matt Lopez penning the script.
The film will tell the story of a father coming to grips with his daughter’s upcoming wedding through the prism of multiple relationships within a big, sprawling Cuban-American family. It will be more of a rom-com than previous versions of film. While this will mark the third iteration of the story, sources say this will be more in the vein of the original Spencer Tracy pic and not the Steve Martin franchise from the 1990s.
Dede Garner and Jeremy Kleiner will produce for Plan B Entertainment. Garcia will exec produce.

Some Doctor Who characters are intended for greatness; some are intended to be killed off at the end of their first episode. Writers have a lot more control over the second than the first. What remains true for all characters, is the tension that exists between their function in the story and their potential to affect it. Even a guard who simply runs into a room to get shot could have dragged the story in another direction, should they be allowed (this stock background character was the inspiration for Terry Pratchett’s City Watch novels).
Successful one-off characters aren’t necessarily those who break away from their function,, but those who make a story soar to another level entirely. More often, what makes them work is when their function in the story is disguised. There are plenty of ways to do this and most of them intersect: casting, costume, dialogue,...

I’ve always been a bit divided on the Man-Bat character. A great concept, and a character I personally do like, but one that has conceptual flaws. Firstly, he’s a bit of a ‘one-trick pony’. That is, Man-Bat stories always run the same way. Kirk Langstrom intends to do something good, is taken over by his ‘evil’ alter-ego, is then full of regret for being a misunderstood monster. Sort of a blend of the Morbius and The Lizard characters. Secondly, the identity crisis. Is he an anti-hero? a villain? a monster? a tortured scientific Jekyll and Hyde? All of these things? Usually it depends on the writer and the storyline, and poor old Kirk will be nudged in whatever direction they see fit. For me, on balance, he’s a solid supporting character, or recurring guest-star, and...

“The Little Things” is a throwback to the serial killer movies of the 1990s like “Se7en” and “The Silence of the Lambs,” the kinds of morally complicated, mid-budget, adult entertainments that Hollywood doesn’t make anymore. Jared Leto, who plays the film’s spooky villain opposite detectives Denzel Washington and Rami Malek, talked to IndieWire about why that’s the case.
“It comes down to a financial decision by the studios,” said Leto. “They think they can just make so much more money with the bigger event movies. They found that for television, if they can do something that’s episodic, then people still enjoy those kinds of stories. I’m not saying they should stop making movies like ‘The Little Things,’ but I do think if you talk about like [the HBO show] ‘The Undoing,’ people like to spend more time with those characters. And there’s less stigma going back and forth from television to film.

“Morbius,” a Marvel movie starring Jared Leto as a biochemist who becomes a vampire, has seen its release date pushed back two times due to the coronavirus. As Sony Pictures is waiting for movie theaters to open again, the comic book film now has a release date set for January 2022.
In an interview for Variety’s Actor on Actors, presented by Amazon Studios, Leto talks about playing Morbius, the “Spider-Man” foe, which Sony hopes will score at the box office in the same way 2018’s “Venom” did.

Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been weaving a web of sequels and spinoff projects to increasingly intricate effect. Compounding that, the apparent plot connectivity of the untitled Spider-Man 3 and Marvel Studios’ subsequent sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, seems destined to shift the shared continuity on a dimensional level. Thus, questions have been raised by Sony’s latest shift for the Jared Leto-starring spinoff, Morbius, which is now on schedule for January 2022. This places the vampire film one month after the Spider-Man threequel’s December 2021 release.
The Morbius migration—the second such shift in just under a fortnight and its fourth delay overall—was a necessary retreat in the aftermath of yet another move by a bigger franchise fish in MGM’s James Bond sequel, No Time to Die, which abandoned its Easter weekend theatrical release plans for the more Covid vaccine-permeated date of Oct.

Amid much speculation, the Daniel Craig-starrer James Bond adventure, No Time To Die, has been delayed yet again. An update on the official Twitter handle of the film on Friday stated that Craig's final outing as Agent 007 has now been pushed to October 8 for a theatrical release.
"No Time To Die 8 October 2021," the post read. The film was originally scheduled to open on April 2.
The release has been pushed amid the ongoing pandemic, with theatres still trying to recover business post lockdown. The film, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, was originally scheduled for release in April 2020, but was pushed to November last year owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. The release date was subsequently changed to April 2021.
The recent push is being viewed as a move that will soon be adapted by other studios, and usher in another wave of delays for the big films.

The immediate future of the theatrical industry remains unclear, and we won’t get a true indication of how far away things are from returning to normal until a major studio blockbuster is released. Wonder Woman 1984 may have debuted less than three weeks ago, but the Dceu sequel arrived simultaneously on HBO Max and drew record numbers, which is why the domestic box office gross is currently sitting at a paltry $32 million.
Internationally, things aren’t looking great, either, with Gal Gadot’s second outing as the title heroine still short of the $100 million mark. As it stands, the first big budget title of 2021 is set to be prequel The King’s Man, which is still scheduled for March 12th. Of course, Morbius was going to arrive the following weekend before Sony delayed it yesterday for another eight months, presenting the very real threat of the Coronavirus domino effect starting all over again.

The move comes as revival of theatres remains uncertain amid the Covid pandemic in the US. The film was previously slated to release last July, but was delayed because of the virus crisis.
The film stars Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who suffers from a rare blood disease and turns himself into a vampire during an attempt to cure himself. Directed by Daniel Espinosa, the film also features Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Tyrese Gibson and Jared Harris.

Sony has postponed the theatrical release of “Morbius,” the comic book thriller starring Jared Leto, as studios continue to grapple with the pandemic’s impact on the film industry.
The movie, which has been delayed numerous times amid the Covid-19 crisis, was most recently scheduled to debut on March 19. It will now premiere in theaters on Oct. 8.
Most movies that were once scheduled for early 2021 have already been pushed back due to the pandemic. However, there are several titles still on the calendar for the first few months of the year, including Camila Cabello’s “Cinderella” (also from Sony) on Feb. 5 and Disney and 20th Century’s “The King’s Man” on March 12. Curiously, Sony did not mention plans for “Cinderella” in Monday’s announcement, though it’s unlikely the fantasy adaptation will keep its February release date — unless it’s sent to a streaming service or lands on premium video-on-demand early.

Marvel Studios have come in for a fair share and often justified amount of criticism over the years that the vast majority of their movies tend to tell the same basic story over and over again, but use new characters and settings to try and disguise themselves as something else entirely. Meanwhile, the second entry in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters is set to be released in March, but on paper at least, Morbius sounds awfully similar to Venom.

Mahershala Ali might have two Academy Award wins for Best Supporting Actor under his belt, but he’s got a lot of work to do when it comes to dislodging Wesley Snipes as the first name that comes to mind when you think of Blade. No offense to Sticky Fingaz, of course, but the short-lived 2006 TV series was hardly the subject of widespread acclaim before it was canceled after one season.
So far, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s reboot remains shrouded in mystery eighteen months after it was first announced, with Ali still the only talent officially attached either in front of or behind the camera. However, it would appear that major news is on the horizon, with Kevin Feige basically admitting as much recently, while Blade has been sandwiched in between Black Panther II and Captain Marvel 2 on Disney’s release schedule, which would indicate a debut somewhere around...

We’re just ten weeks away from the release of Morbius, the second installment in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters and also one of the most anticipated movies of 2021, a lofty status that’s raised a lot of questions among certain sections of the internet.
The comic book blockbuster was originally scheduled for last July before being shifted as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, but long before the impact of Covid-19 brought the theatrical industry to its knees, there was certainly some doubt surrounding Morbius‘ chances of success, even during the typically lucrative summer months.
Jared Leto is a phenomenal actor in the right projects, but he’s also a very polarizing presence in the wrong ones, while the title character doesn’t boast much in the way of name recognition among general audiences. The footage looks similar to Venom in that it feels ripped straight out...

Sony are once again hedging their bets on an interconnected superhero franchise, despite the relative failure of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 already causing them to abandon the idea once before and strike the unprecedented licensing agreement with Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios, which led to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker becoming an integral part of the McU.
This time they’ll have to do it without their most marketable asset, because while details of the new deal signed last summer haven’t been made clear, most people are operating under the impression that Marvel will handle solo Spidey movies, but Holland will show up in the Spumc from time to time.
Venom was a monster hit that raked in over $850 million at the box office, and this summer’s sequel Let There Be Carnage is poised to do big business, but there are no guarantees that Morbius will experience a similar level of success.

There’s just three months to go until the second installment in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters arrives, but it wouldn’t be unfair to say that Morbius isn’t generating a whole lot of buzz. When the first trailer was released, most of the focus was placed on a background mural of Spider-Man and the surprise appearance of Michael Keaton’s Vulture rather than the footage itself.
Obviously, star Jared Leto doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to playing pale-faced comic book characters, but his divisive Joker will hopefully get a better response in Justice League than it did in Suicide Squad, something that wasn’t helped by the vast majority of his scenes being left on the cutting room floor as the studio butchered David Ayer’s vision beyond recognition.

Instead of writing a new list of the most anticipated movies of 2021, I could just link you to last year’s list. Covid-19 forced studios to shelve many of their biggest blockbusters until next year. And it wasn’t just a date on a calendar either: many of these movies got full blown trailers, late night show appearances and marketing campaigns hyping us up before the pandemic pulled a fast one. In some regards, it’s a fool’s errand putting together any sort of calendar list, because 2020 proved constantly shifting dates or a sudden move to streaming is no longer a sign of a bad movie but is just par for the course. All of these movies were meant to come out at some point in 2020, and this doesn’t even include hot titles for early next year such as “Cherry,” “The Many Saints of Newark,” “Cinderella,” “The United States vs. Billie Holiday...

Sony have obviously wanted Spider-Man and Venom to either face off or team up in a big budget blockbuster for a long time now, but so far, all they’ve managed to do is throw the woefully miscast Topher Grace into Sam Raimi’s third installment against the director’s will, adding one too many subplots to a movie that was already creaking under the weight of its own ambition.
When The Amazing Spider-Man series was being eyed as the launchpad for an entire shared universe, though, the plan was for Alex Kurtzman to co-write and direct a Venom spinoff. The symbiote storyline remains one of the most iconic Spider-Man comic book arcs of all-time, even if the live-action adaptation was a major disappointment. Hype levels from fans went through the roof when it was first revealed that Sam Raimi’s third movie was going to give them Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker in the iconic black suit, but obviously the marketing materials wouldn’t hint at the behind the scenes discontent that had plagued the production.
Raimi never wanted to include Venom or Eddie Brock in the story, feeling that Sandman’s arc and Harry Osborn following in his father’s footsteps was more than enough, but under pressure from Sony he eventually relented. Unsurprisingly, it turned out to be the weakest part of the already bloated Spider-Man 3, but tipster Mikey Sutton claims that the studio are willing to try again.

As things stand, Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange are the only new additions to the cast that have been officially confirmed by the studio, despite the sheer volume of names being circulated in connection to the project. Sally Field once compared working on The Amazing Spider-Man series to attempting to stuff ten pounds of sh*t into a five pound bag, so it would be safe to assume that the two-time Academy Award winner is one of the very few names that can be definitively ruled out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man 3, while Rosemary Harris is 93 years old and has only appeared in one episode of television in the last five years, making multiversal Aunt Mays very unlikely.
Which is probably for the best, because along with the widely expected triumvirate of Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, we’re also rumored to be getting anywhere up to three Green Goblins and any potential combination of Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Tom Hardy’s Venom, Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson and Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy, which seems a little excessive.

HBO recently confirmed that former Doctor Who and The Crown star Matt Smith is going to portray Daemon Targaryen in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel spinoff, House of the Dragon.
The story, set many years before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire, will chronicle the history of the Targaryens from Aegon’s conquest of Westeros to the Dance of Dragons and the breaking of the once majestic Valyrian house. And while it’s really difficult to imagine the quirky 11th Doctor as a character in the Seven Kingdoms, much less a noble, it’ll be interesting to see what the actor can bring to the role. If anything, Smith has shown such range and talent in his numerous projects over the years that there’s little to no doubt that the performance will be spectacular, if not downright inspiring, even by Game of Thrones‘ standards.

Sony’s last attempt at building a shared universe didn’t go according to plan, with the disappointing box office performance and generally lukewarm reception to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 nixing any further outings, despite the studio hedging their bets in a big way by stuffing the story full of Easter Eggs and teases of things to come, as well as hiring Drew Goddard to write and direct Sinister Six along with announcing various other spinoffs including Silver & Black and Spider-Man 2099.
Of course, Spider-Man was rebooted shortly afterwards as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the absence of their marquee hero hasn’t stopped the company from trying again. Venom surprised a lot of people after it raked in over $850 million globally, but next year could see the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters sink or swim with the double whammy of Morbius and Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

For better or worse, Jared Leto is known for his intense commitment and dedication to almost every one of his performances, often going to extreme lengths to get into character. For his Academy Award winning role in Dallas Buyers Club, that meant shaving off his eyebrows, waxing his entire body and losing 30 pounds, while he gained 67 pounds when playing John Lennon’s murderer Mark David Chapman in 2007’s Chapter 27.
Then, of course, there’s Suicide Squad‘s Joker, where the actor reportedly refused to speak to any of his fellow cast members in order to immerse himself fully into the part, and sent them various bizarre gifts including a dead hog, envelopes full of bullets, used condoms and even anal beads for some unknown reason. Before that, however, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was heavily compromised by the desire to focus on the rapid expansion of the proposed shared universe at the expense of the narrative, and great chunks of the movie were almost entirely devoted to foreshadowing events that were still to come.
