Whenever there’s an incident of a kid committing a heinous crime, people often try to point the finger at someone else. It’s not necessary that an adult will have to bear responsibility for a crime committed by their offspring. The kids in Anna Zackrisson’s Deliver Me are lost in the dark, even though they have good people around them. The story doesn’t shy away from being brave and showing the hard truths that exist in society, and a few wonderful performances only add a cherry on top.

Exclusive: SkyShowtime’s drama original Codename: Annika is taking its art crime sensibilities around the world.
In one of the few international distribution stories you’ll read this week not directly related to the London TV Screenings, Mediawan Rights has snapped up sales rights to the Swedish-Finnish series.
Mediawan will sell it outside of European streamer SkyShowtime’s footprint, which covers parts of mainland and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia, and second window rights within the operating territories.
Codename: Annika stars Sannah Nedergård as Emma Haka, a Finnish art crime investigator who infiltrates an auction in Stockholm during an undercover mission that proves to be more dangerous than expected. She is forced to assume a wild and fiery alias, Annika Stormare, and the lines between the two personalities begin to blur.

Milad Alami’s Opponent begins with an Audre Lorde quote: “My silences had not protected me. Your silence will not protect you.” The Black lesbian poet wrote eloquently about the violence of silence, arguing that breaking through silence and speaking out is a radical act, as essential to self-knowledge as it is to communication. The protagonist of this tightly knotted drama — played in a knockout performance by Payman Maadi, churning with rage, desire and pained vulnerability — is imprisoned by his silence, literally wrestling with himself, to use the metaphor that gives the film its bristling vitality.
Maadi plays Iman, who fled Tehran with his family and is seeking asylum in the far north of Sweden. The reasons for that abrupt flight are revealed only later, but there are clues in a prologue that starts effectively with a blank screen and the sounds of body slams and grunts of wrestlers training hard in a gym.

Writer/director Neasa Hardiman’s Sea Fever had enjoyed a successful festival run throughout 2019, but she had no idea just how topical her tale of aquatic horror would become this year back when she was originally making the film. Sea Fever centers around a marine biology student named Siobhán (played by Hermione Corfield), who is tasked with traveling on a fishing trawler, but quickly finds herself out of place alongside the rest of the ship’s crew. As they travel into unchartered waters, a biological entity takes hold of the vessel, infecting the unsuspecting passengers, and it’s up to Siobhán to figure out just what exactly they’re dealing with before it’s too late for everyone aboard.
Daily Dead recently had the opportunity to speak with Hardiman about her approach to the story of Sea Fever, and during our interview, she discussed exploring the themes of taking responsibility for our communities,...

Never before has the idea of an horror/eco-thriller centered on a parasite been scarier. Hell, just leaving your house can feel like entering a fright flick. So, Sea Fever is either coming this week at the best possible, or worst possible, time. Luckily, if this sort of title interests you, it’s a quality film, offering up a familiar, though well crafted, take on a small group fighting for survival against an unknown entity. Coming to On Demand platforms at the end of the week, it will certainly hit the spot if you’re looking for a genre effort to unsettle you, especially one of this sort. The film is a mix of horror and thriller, with some science fiction thrown in for good measure. For the grizzled crew of a trawler out on the seas west of Ireland, the arrival of Siobhan (Hermione Corfield) is greeted with indifference,...

"It went into the water! We're all vulnerable to get infected." Dust has revealed another official Us trailer for the indie sci-fi thriller Sea Fever, which will be getting a Us debut in early April. It's definitely worth a watch. This originally premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year, and we just posted a UK trailer last week. Described as "reminiscent of cult classics The Thing and The Abyss," with an original script about a marooned boat overtaken by this strange sea parasite that attaches itself to the vessel. Hermione Corfield stars as a marine biology student who steps aboard a ship captained by Freya, played by Connie Nielsen. The small cast also includes Dougray Scott, Olwen Fouéré, Jack Hickey, Ardalan Esmaili, and Elie Bouakaze. It's as good as it looks in the trailers, so gather up friends for a movie night and enjoy this one. Here's the official...

"Something's getting through the hull." Signature Entertainment UK has debuted an official UK trailer for an Irish sci-fi thriller titled Sea Fever, which originally premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. The small cast also includes Dougray Scott, Olwen Fouéré, Jack Hickey, Ardalan Esmaili, and Elie Bouakaze. I caught this last fall and it's an excellent little film - a very clever, thrilling stuck-on-a-boat sci-fi feature. If this trailer intrigues you, I really recommend giving it a watch when it opens in cinemas soon. Here's the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Neasa Hardiman's Sea Fever,...

Ever the scientist too enthralled with work to bother making friends, Siobhán (Hermoine Corfield) will stop at nothing to gaze upon a school of fish whose swim pattern might be crucial to her research. This means bumming onto a trawler owned by Gerard (Dougray Scott) and Freya (Connie Nielsen) thanks to an acquaintance with a crush (Jack Hickey). The fishing couple is short on cash (late payroll the reason Ardalan Esmaili’s engineer Ahmed is about to quit), so they take her money, agree to one scuba dive, and hold their breath upon realizing red hair (bad luck) exists under her hat. Thanks to a reckless maneuver by Gerard in an attempt to find a fish windfall and keep their vessel afloat, however, this uneventful adventure becomes anything but.
