CBS’ hit sitcom Ghosts continues to delight fans, but the subject matter grew heavy on Thursday, April 18. While fans were thrilled to see Flower return, more surprises were in store. Leading up to the episode, fans of the series had already learned how most of the ghosts died, and now we’ve learned Hetty’s cause of death. That leaves just one ghost with an unknown death.
Hetty’s cause of death has been revealed
Hetty, the robber baroness who controls Woodstone Mansion, has been an important character since the series’ inception, but her death remained a mystery until recently. Earlier in the series, fans learned that Hetty’s diabolic husband, Elias, died when he was trapped inside a vault. Still, Hetty never spoke of her own demise.

“Ghosts” hit another landmark on Thursday night, as this week’s episode of the hit CBS comedy revealed the truth behind Flower’s disappearance — while also, on a much more profound level, explored the truth behind Hetty’s death in 1895.
In the episode, “Holes are Bad,” when Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) go away for the weekend, the ghosts are left alone — and discover that Flower (Sheila Carrasco) hadn’t been “sucked away” to the afterlife as they thought. Instead, she’s been stuck at the bottom of a well, and had no way of getting out of it.
While they’re gone, Sam and Jay had hired a contractor to fill the well with concrete — which would have left Flower stuck in there for eternity. But with no way to contact Sam and Jay (their efforts to FaceTime the livings fails), the ghosts struggled to find another way to save her.

It is safe to say that Ghosts is a hit for CBS. In the series, Sam gains the ability to see spirits after a near-death experience. The home she and her husband, Jay, have recently moved into has no shortage of spirits for her to interact with. While the series is ultimately about the living couple and the home’s spirits, the house itself, Woodstone Mansion, has become something of a character. As we dive into season three, we can’t help but wonder where Woodstone Mansion is located. We have all the details.
Where is ‘Ghosts’ set?
Sam and Jay initially resided in New York City but moved to a sprawling estate in upstate New York when Sam learned she was the only heir to the family home. The mansion is located in Ulster County in the series. Ulster County is a rural New York county about two hours...

Jay and Sam really need Isaac’s help on CBS’s Ghosts season three episode five. Directed by Trent O’Donnell from a script by Kira Kalush, episode five – “The Silent Partner” – will air on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 8:30pm Et/Pt.

Also, it appears we’ll be welcoming back our favorite dead hippie this season. Apparently, Flower (Sheila Carrasco) didn’t get sucked off and instead has been trapped in a well on the property for a month! Also, the ghost count was upped by one freshly deceased spirit as Carol (Caroline Aaron), Pete’s ex, choked on a donut hole and died during Sam and Jay’s annual Halloween party.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Ghosts Season 3, Episode 1, “The Owl.”] Ghosts returned for its third season one spirit short as Flower (Sheila Carrasco) was revealed to be the one “sucked off” in the Season 2 finale. But is this really the end of Flower’s story with the series? When it comes to the world of Ghosts it always feels like there are new things to learn about the boundaries of the spirit world and its limitations. Below are a few ways we could imagine the show would explain a possible return for Flower. (Credit: CBS) 1. [Editor’s note: This story contains spoilers for the Season 3 premiere of “Ghosts.”]
Season 2 of CBS’s beloved sitcom “Ghosts,” whose Season 3 premiered on Thursday, February 15, ended on a major cliffhanger: When Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) almost lost their home to a scammer, they recapped the events of the last two years when Rose inherited their country home from her great aunt and her near death experience allowed for her to see and interact with the zany and loveable ghosts who haunt their home. Even for Jay, who can’t see them, the ghosts have become an integral part of their lives, almost like family. And as they wax poetic about the positive changes the ghosts have brought into their lives, they saw a beam of light from the home indicating that one of the ghosts has been sucked off, “Ghosts” speak for going to the afterlife.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Ghosts Season 3, Episode 1, “The Owl.”] Ghosts is back, but moments in the Season 3 premiere episode, “The Owl,” it was clear that the show was short one important ghost. Yes, it didn’t take long for the Season 2 mystery to be solved as [Spoiler alert!] Flower (Sheila Carrasco) is revealed to be the Woodstone spirit who was “sucked off” and passed on to the other side. The realization is devastating for some, particularly Thorfinn (Devan Chandler Long), who had just begun a relationship with the free-loving Hippie, as well as Sam (Rose McIver), who had grown to care for her ghost friend. With her gone without a chance to say farewell, everyone copes in their own way (even fans are likely to), but for Thorfinn, grief comes in the form of an owl he believes that Flower has inhabited after Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) mentions the concept of reincarnation. Flower, hopefully you’re finally getting to cuddle a few bears up there in the sky. Yes, you read that right: There’s one less ghost on “Ghosts,” as the characters said farewell to Flower on the Season 3 premiere of CBS’ hit comedy.
The series finally returned on Thursday (after a long strikes-induced delay), and we learned which spirit had been finally sent to the afterlife. After a few fakeouts, the ghosts discovered that it was Flower (Sheila Carrasco) who was “sucked off” in the Season 2 finale, as witnessed by Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar).
Flower is the 1960s-era hippie who died trying to hug a bear while high on acid, and remained a bit forgetful and drugged-out while living in the purgatory that is Woodstone Mansion.

It’s a real case of life imitating art in this exclusive Ghosts promo which will air during the Super Bowl broadcast as Sam (Rose McIver), Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), and the spirits of Woodstone sit down to watch the 1990 classic Ghost. Exclusive: It pays to be alive — or dead — on CBS’ Ghosts. Following a very successful second season, the cast of the paranormal comedy have renegotiated their contracts, landing big salary increases while adding an optional year to their existing deals, Deadline has learned.
Produced by CBS Studios in association with Lionsgate Television and BBC Studios, Ghosts, an adaptation of the British format, stars Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar as Samantha and Jay, a young couple living alongside ghosts in a country house they’d inherited.
According to sources, McIver and Ambudkar have seen their paychecks double to $250,000 an episode.
The actors playing the ghosts, Brandon Scott Jones (Isaac), Richie Moriarty (Pete), Danielle Pinnock (Alberta), Asher Grodman (Trevor), Román Zaragoza (Sasappis), Sheila Carrasco (Flower), Rebecca Wisocky (Hetty) and Devan Chandler Long (Thorfinn) — whose salaries varied in the $35,000 – $55,000 per episode range — will each make $100,000 an episode next season, I hear.

After being forced to push the Season 3 premiere date for its hit comedy Ghosts to February 15, 2024 amidst this summer’s dual strikes, CBS is readying for its return to production, star Danielle Pinnock has revealed.
“We start shooting on Saturday. I fly down to Montreal. We’re going back, baby!” exclaimed Pinnock tonight, in conversation with Deadline at the red carpet premiere for her new Amazon MGM holiday film, Candy Cane Lane. “We did a table read — those scripts are good!”
Pinnock expects the show to shoot “only 10 episodes this season,” rather than the 18+ that have been put out in its first two go-rounds, because of both strike-forced delays and the fact that her co-star Sheila Carrasco is expecting her first child. Still, she teased, “those episodes are fierce and the audiences should prepare themselves.”

Ghosts will return to CBS for season 3 now that the SAG-AFTRA strike has officially ended. Fans of the series have been waiting for months to find out which spirit, if any, were “sucked off” in the season 2 finale. Now, the wait is almost over. CBS has spent the days since the end of the strike working out a schedule that will ensure new content makes it to viewers as quickly as possible. It seems like the network has prioritized its biggest hits since season 3 of Ghosts has an official premiere date.
When will ‘Ghosts’ season 3 premiere?
CBS has wasted no time updating viewers about their altered 2024 TV schedule. Shortly after the guild reached an agreement with production companies, CBS got to work trying to figure out exactly when their most popular shows could return with new seasons. According to Variety, Ghosts season 3 now has an official premiere date of Feb.

Looks like all those early concerns about whether name stars would walk the picket line ended up being a waste of energy: a strike captain on Saturday recognized Day 100 of the SAG-AFTRA strike by calling out many of the big names who joined the rank and file in those daily protests.
“Instead of talking about who is not on the picket line, let’s celebrate the name talent who have been showing up,” wrote Chelsea Schwartz, who encouraged her followers to add to her thread.
Among those she singled out were Chris Pine, Jennifer Garner, Timothy Olyphant, Mandy Moore, Ben Schwartz, Nick Offerman, Ming-Na Wen, Sam Elliott, Jack Black, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Margot Robbie, Jon Cryer, Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott, Jennifer Grey, Clarke Gregg, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rhys Darby, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Deschanel, Sterling K Brown, Ben Barnes, Jack Quaid, Robert Pine, Raegan Revord, Tate Donovan,...

The Season 2 finale of Ghosts spooked up quite the audience growth on streaming.
According to CBS, the sophomore season ended its run with a 28% increase in live streaming viewership across Paramount+ and CBS digital apps versus the Season 1 finale. The network didn’t disclose exactly how many people tuned in on streaming, as is typical.
On linear, the episode drew 6.29M live + same-day viewers, according to early Nielsen data. That’s its largest fast-affiliate audience since March and is up 5% from the broadcast audience for the season 1 finale.
CBS’ other Thursday night broadcasts — Young Sheldon, CSI: Vegas, and So Help Me Todd — also performed well. Young Sheldon averaged about 6.46M viewers and had its second largest streaming audience of the season.
As with Ghosts, CSI: Vegas and So Help Me Todd also boasted series-high streaming audiences. CSI: Vegas was also up about 2% week-over-week on broadcast, with 3.16M people tuning in.
