After that messy, messy end to Season 1, we’ll get to see what’s next for Lucy (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen (Jackson White). Hulu has renewed Tell Me Lies for a second season. The series follows Lucy and Stephen’s tumultuous but intoxicating relationship as it unfolds over the course of eight years. They meet at college, and what unfolds affects everyone around them. The first season also starred Catherine Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook, Benjamin Wadsworth, and Alicia Crowder. In the finale, flashbacks showed Stephen driving the night Macy (Lily McInerny) died. Plus, Lucy watched as he left a college party with his ex, Diana (Crowder), then got drunk with Bree’s (Missal) boyfriend Evan (Cook) and woke up in bed with him the next morning. Hulu has renewed soapy college drama “Tell Me Lies” for Season 2, one month after the first season finale hit the streaming service.
“Tell Me Lies” documents the tumultuous relationship between then college students Lucy and Stephen as it unfolds over eight years, with its first season hinging on the mysterious death of Lucy’s first year roommate.
Though no official Season 2 release date or information about cast or plot are known, executive producer and showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer told TheWrap before the renewal that a potential second season would showcase more of the characters’ adult years starting with the engagement party, while also picking up where the series left off in college.
Oppenheimer also teased in October that potential future episodes will shine a light on other ensemble characters, namely Diana and Bree, since “everyone wants a lot more Bree.”

Most stories set in college are designed to push you in one of two directions: idealizing or mortifying. Either they make you pine for a life of cafeteria tables and late-night dorm room chats or they quickly train you to have a stomach-seeking feeling at the mere sight of a brick building lecture hall. The new Hulu series “Tell Me Lies” doesn’t spend much time in a classroom, but its romantic drama/mystery hybrid approach keeps it in a curious middle zone between rosy optimism and overwhelming dread.
The show begins well after graduation, with Lucy (Grace Van Patten) prepping for a rehearsal dinner where she’ll reunite with a bunch of her friends from during (and presumably after) college years. Typically, it probably wouldn’t be a good thing that, after five hourlong episodes — halfway into the season! — I still don’t quite know what to make of Stephen (Jackson White), the male lead of Hulu’s Tell Me Lies. Here, though, it’s just proof the show is working exactly as intended.
Whenever he starts to tiptoe toward full-on villainy, the series will grant him a hearbreaking reveal or a moment of genuine sweetness; whenever he threatens to seem too likable, it’ll drop in a casual reminder of how breathtakingly callous he can be. The push-pull puts us more or less in the same shoes as protagonist Lucy (Grace Van Patten), who spends years wriggling on his hook before she’s finally able to cut herself free — and it’s that keen understanding of the psychology driving its central relationship that...
