Right before he blew up the bridge back in his final episode from the flagship series, a fatally-injured Rick Grimes uttered “I found them” before he was thrust into the chaos of the Civic Republic Military and stolen from his children’s lives for years. Three seasons and six jam-packed, spin-off episodes later, Rick has indeed finally found them, and the long journey of a sheriff from Atlanta faced with the end of the world has reached its conclusion.
“The Last Time” kicks off with a beautiful dynamic shot passing over a table filled with the remnants of an intensive planning session and candlelit dinner. Michonne and Rick are romantically enjoying the eve before their bold attack on the Civic Republic Military. Above all, “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” has up-held its commitment to being a romance set within the zombie apocalypse.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live wrapped its six-episode run on Sunday, by having Rick and Michonne — played by Andrew Lincoln and Dania Gurira, who co-created the offshoot with Walking Dead chief content officer Scott M. Gimple — (barely) succeed in their plan to find and destroy the dossier on Alexandria that Jadis had hidden, and then vanquish not just Major Beale, but blow up the Civic Republic of Philadelphia’s entire military.

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode 6.
Going into The Walking Dead spinoff The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, the goal for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) were perfectly clear: to find each other once again. Having been separated since Rick left the flagship series midway through season 9, all this married couple wanted to do was get back together.
Well Rick and Michonne do get back together early in The Ones Who Live‘s run. And yet, the series still persisted on. That’s because getting back together is easy, but building the world where they’ll never have to leave each other again is significantly harder. The Civic Republic Military, of which Rick is unwillingly a part of, is hellbent on conquering smaller communities like Rick and Michonne’s own Alexandria. What’s worse is that Rick’s old...

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 6
Between the two of them, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) have amassed a body count that would rival any of history’s greatest monsters, and that’s only talking about living victims.
Rick Grimes, for all his nobility, seems to be the character that The Walking Dead makes into the show’s punching bag when it comes to pushing the limits of good taste. Eugene might have bitten a guy’s groin during a fight, but that guy recovered in the end (as far as we know). Rick Grimes once ripped a guy’s throat out with his teeth. Granted, Rick has always been capable of terrible things, provided he had a good enough cause to do them. The throat-ripping was to save his son; admittedly, that’s a...

“Become,” the penultimate episode of “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live,” takes viewers back to a more nostalgic-style of storytelling in the Twdu. On the heels of their rocky escape from the Civic Republic Military, Michonne and Rick are honeymooning their way through Wyoming, enjoying the sights and sounds of a quiet, apocalyptic grassland. Moving from place to place, staying in all sorts of random structures left to rot – this traveling style of survival calls to mind the many episodes of Season 4 and 5 which featured our band of survivors endlessly roaming the countryside. Most memorably, Carl, Michonne, and Rick once had an eventful journey down the railroad tracks in rural Georgia. As the spin-offs in the universe start leaning heavily into more civilized, polished settings, it’s a breath of fresh (or rotten) air to return to the greenery and grass that once...

The penultimate episode of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was the most shocking episode of the series to date, culminating with Jadis’ (Pollyanna McIntosh) death.
It was a storyline that had been in the works for years, but Jadis lost her life after playing quite the cat-and-mouse game with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira).
Monsters and Critics was fortunate enough to chat with Pollyanna about her time on The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
Check out the full interview below.
Monsters and Critics: I watched this episode multiple times. It’s just one of those episodes you don’t get very often. Not a single scene is wasted.
Since you left the main series, fans have wanted a resolution for Jadis. We also saw you on World Beyond, but The Ones Who Live brought this arc full circle.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 5
So is she Anne or is she Jadis? Is there even a difference? One of Rick Grimes’ many reclamation projects, like Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam), Jadis/Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh) was a character in need of redemption. As the former leader of the hostile Junkyardigans and an ally to both the Ricktatorship and the Saviors, she’s been a character constantly out for one person: herself. Always seeking a better deal, always working to ensure the survival of herself and her community, Jadis has become something of a convert to the ways of the Crm. She seems like a real true believer, but any fan of The Walking Dead knows that she might talk the talk and walk the walk, but her motivations are known only to herself.

[This story contains major spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode five.]
The Walking Dead giveth, The Walking Dead taketh. In its penultimate hour, the Rick and Michonne-centric The Ones Who Live reintroduced one of the mothership series’ most enduring figures: Father Gabriel, the once-cowardly preacher turned warrior-leader of Alexandria, played by Seth Gilliam.
In the same breath, the spinoff also removed one of the franchise’s other most enduring figures from the board: Jadis, aka Anne, aka Jadis Stokes of the Crm, played by Pollyanna McIntosh. Having appeared in three different iterations of The Walking Dead in a variety of antagonistic roles, McIntosh’s erstwhile leader of the Garbage People is now in the heap herself — though, not without putting up as much resistance as humanly possible.
“She died by a bed on the head, an axe wound, a car crash, a walker and Rick’s gun,” McIntosh tells The Hollywood Reporter...

After keeping us guessing for three weeks, The Ones Who Live finally made it clear in last week’s episode that it’s ultimately going to be Rick and Michonne versus Crm. With only two episodes left, you would expect the big showdown to roll out. Instead, we get a strange episode where the only other major characters of the show, other than Rick and Michonne, die, and a friendly face from the mother show makes an appearance. The Walking Dead has this habit of randomly humanizing a character before death, and with Jadis, aka Anne, meeting her maker, a big chunk of this episode is dedicated to the exploration of the character. Sadly, though, it doesn’t work, because when did we ever care about Jadis anyway? My apologies if some of you did, though.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live has been building up to a reunion of sorts between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), and it’s one fans have been waiting more than five years for.
Despite reuniting in the series premiere, they have been continually driven apart by the Crm and Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh).
Thankfully, that all changed on Sunday’s new episode, which found the lovers working through their issues and reconnecting as they embarked on a mission to return to their loved ones.
Monsters and Critics got to talk to Michael Slovis about directing one of the limited series’ most pivotal episodes and what the events mean for the final episodes.
We have just two episodes left.

Coming off an exceptional second episode last week, “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” Episode 3 (“Bye”) finds Michonne still undercover within the Crm as a consignee. She’s under strict orders from Rick to pretend to be a “B,” when it’s clear Michonne is anything but. Watching Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira play off the dynamic of reunited lovers acting like complete strangers is endlessly entertaining, and another testament to how strong the duo are as performers.
Michonne can only play innocent for so long, as her natural skills fending off the undead become clear during the frequent walker killing sessions that consignees are required to do at the Crm’s walls. Michonne punctures walkers one by one in sequences filled to the brim with that classic Walking Dead gore. Bad news for Richonne shippers: Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) are currently at odds with one another in "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live," to the point that their entire relationship is being put to the test. In episode 2, "Gone," we saw the lovers reunite after overcoming impossible odds, hugging and crying until their reunion was cut short by a Crm chopper. Rick repeatedly reminds Michonne not to show who she really is, as being branded as an "A" (a leader willing to die for their cause) is a fate worse than death. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, Season 1, Episode 3, “Bye.”] Anne, Jadis… whatever name you call her, Pollyanna McIntosh‘s Walking Dead survivor (the first character to appear in three different series within The Walking Dead Universe) is an unmovable force— one that can’t help but get in the way for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and surely will cause trouble for his katana-wielding love, Michonne (Danai Gurira), as well in AMC‘s latest spinoff, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Though Rick and Michonne technically have Jadis to thank for Rick’s survival after the bridge explosion in the mothership series, it’s also because of her that Rick is even trapped in the Civic Republic. And Jadis isn’t done with these two yet…not even close. Below, McIntosh, who took a break from shooting Netflix‘s fourth season of Outer Banks in Morocco to chat with us,...

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 3
The idea of paying debts is more of a Game of Thrones thing. After all, it’s the Lannister motto, and the show features a whole lot of characters paying off metaphorical debts, if not actual ones. While The Walking Dead doesn’t have any incestuous families scheming to take over the Seven Kingdoms (though they did have a king and there are undoubtedly incestuous families out there among the survivors), the Civic Republic is obviously keeping many secrets. The people of its secret city don’t know what the military does. The military doesn’t know what the elite Frontliners are up to. Within the Frontliners, there are conspiracies and gamesmanship; there’s certainly some sort of monetary system in use by the Crm, but it seems the real currency is personal favors.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Ones Who Live Season 1, Episodes 1 and 2, “Years” and “Gone.”] It’s a question that has plagued Walking Dead fans endlessly—why was Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) a ‘B’ to the Crm, and what the heck is a ‘B,’ anyway? Throughout several spinoffs and a series of vague references, we’ve gotten closer to an answer. Now, with this week’s episode of The Ones Who Live, it seems we’ve finally obtained a concrete definition of who Crm sees as an ‘A’ and who it sees as a ‘B.’ Here’s what we know. Do You Have an ‘A’ or ‘B’? Crm’s method of classifying survivors goes all the way back to the war against the Saviors when Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) held Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) captive as an ‘A’ to turn over to the Crm. Other potential ‘A’s we’ve seen over the years have included Father Gabriel (Seth ...

Sunday night’s premiere of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live delivered 3M viewers after three days of viewing, according to Nielsen. That makes it the biggest premiere night audience for a new AMC series in six years, since 2018’s premiere of The Terror (that episode had a lead-in from The Walking Dead).
The episode also performed well on streaming, according to the company. The Ones Who Live premiere is now the most-watched episode of any show ever on AMC+. Rick has been held in captivity by the Civic Republic Military (Crm), a vast government organization that has been consistently teased and touched on in nearly all “Walking Dead” media. Meanwhile, Michonne has begun the ultimate journey, traveling far and wide in hopes of crossing paths with Grimes.

When Andrew Lincoln left The Walking Dead in 2018, fans were promised a trilogy of movies to bring his character’s story to fruition.
Sadly, those movies never materialized, but AMC gave him and Danai Gurira a six-episode limited series titled The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live that charts Michonne’s quest to reunite with her husband, Rick, and take him back home.
The series premiere aired Sunday, February 25, and fans were bursting with pride across social media as the two beloved characters crossed paths for the first time since 2018.
The premiere was hard at work filling in the gaps about what became of Rick after he blew up a bridge to protect those he loved before being whisked off on a Crm helicopter by Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh).
Rick tried to escape countless times, which ultimately put him on what can only be described as a leash when he was taken out into the world.

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode 1.
When Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes exited The Walking Dead in season 9 episode 5 “What Comes After,” he did so in a mysterious fashion. After Rick was near-mortally wounded in a bridge explosion that he triggered to save his community, the enigmatic Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) came across his unconscious form. She then hailed down a nearby helicopter from an unknown community and delivered an unusual message to its pilot.
“I have a B. Not an A. I never had an A. He’s hurt but he’s strong can you help him?”
That episode aired on Nov. 4, 2018. In the more than five years since, The Walking Dead franchise has not fully explained what Jadis meant by “A” and “B.” Twd spinoff The Walking Dead: World Beyond did reveal what eventually happens to people labeled A’s and B...

The latest “The Walking Dead” spinoff, “The Ones Who Live,” premieres on AMC Feb. 25, reuniting Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Dana Gurira’s Michonne for the first time since 2018 and Season 9 of the long-running zombie show. But the two aren’t the only familiar “Walking Dead” faces stepping back into the fray, with sometimes-ally-sometimes-foe Jadis joining the action once more.
For Scottish actress Pollyanna McIntosh, who joined as Jadis midway through Season 7, “The Ones Who Live” present her with a unique accolade, with her becoming the first actor to star in three different “The Walking Dead” series, having also appeared in 2020’s spinoff “World Beyond.”
Speaking to Variety, McIntosh — who recently moved from Los Angeles to Dublin, Ireland — explains how her career could have taken a very different path from apocalyptic zombies were it not for a video game.

The Shudder streaming service is owned and operated by AMC Networks, which is why we’ll occasionally get a special episode of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, hosted by legendary movie host / drive-in critic Joe Bob Briggs, where Joe Bob presents an episode or two of one of AMC’s The Walking Dead shows. There was a special where Joe Bob showed the first two episodes of The Walking Dead, another where he showed the premiere episode of the spin-off series The Walking Dead: Dead City, and one where he showed the premiere episode of the spin-off series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Another spin-off series, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, is scheduled to begin airing on AMC on February 25th… and yes, of course, they’re going to have Joe Bob show the premiere episode of this one as well. When Andrew Lincoln exited The Walking Dead in 2018, we were promised a trilogy of movies to tell us what came next for our hero.
Six years later, we’re getting The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, a six-episode limited series that will chart Rick’s story after being handed over by Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) to the Civic Republic Military (Crm) and Michonne’s (Danai Gurira) harrowing quest to find him.
AMC shared the first four episodes with critics before the premiere, and after waiting so long for this story to come full circle, I can confidently say that it’s a resounding success.
In pre-series press, the cast has been vocal about the show being a love story with a post-apocalyptic backdrop, and that’s probably the best way to describe it.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live has lived a few lives.
The project, which stars Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, reprising their respective Rick Grimes and Michonne characters, originally was set as The Walking Dead franchise’s first feature-length movie before transitioning into a six-part limited series.
It was designed to wrap up the story arcs for Grimes and Michonne.
However, Scott Gimple, Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead universe and showrunner of The Ones Who Live, which is the universe’s sixth spinoff, teased that it might not be that limited.
“Anything is possible — even if Rick dies in the last episode, anything is possible,” he said. “We’re focused on this one right now. But this one came together in a really amazing way, where there were all sorts of plans. And then the world changed and we altered those plans.”

"The Walking Dead" is the cable franchise that just won't die. The saga that began in 2010 (or 2003 if you count the comic books that spawned it) has so far led to not one or two but six different spin-offs set within the same universe, a number that would be jaw-dropping even if AMC wasn't one of many media companies signing off on large-scale layoffs in recent years. At any rate, the latest spin-off is by far the most narratively promising, as it's set to answer burning questions fans (even those who quit watching ages ago) have about the show's most-loved couple.
That's right, folks: "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" is finally going to tell us whether or not Richonne is endgame. The couple comprised of original series protagonist Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his super capable second-in-command turned bestie turned lover Michonne (Danai Gurira) got separated way back...

The second trailer for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live aims for a mood, and that mood is pervasive dread.
Coming two weeks after the first trailer, the new clip features multiple shots of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) slaying zombies — it seems to be Rick’s job — while hoping against hope that the other is still alive and they can find each other once again.
That’s the animating principle for the series, which brings Lincoln and Gurira back into the Walking Dead fold after both departed the flagship series in the later years of its run. The trailer also features a slightly longer glimpse at the military force headed by Terry O’Quinn’s character, Beale, who tells Rick that “everything will change” if he comes on board with Beale’s vision.

When Andrew Lincoln’s severely wounded Rick Grimes exited The Walking Dead via helicopter in season 9, there was someone by his side. It wasn’t his wife Michonne (Danai Gurira), his daughter Judith (Cailey Fleming), or any of his many friends from the Alexandria and Hilltop communities. No, it was the strange leader of the Scavengers and pseudo-villain Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh).
Despite initially being a major annoyance to Rick as the enigmatic leader of a group of oddly-dressed junkers, Jadis made the walkie-talkie call for a helicopter to rescue the leader, and took off for parts unknown with him. It was always a given then that Jadis would return for Rick and Michonne spinoff The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Thanks to the show’s latest trailer, we now have a clearer look at this old Twd villain in action.
We’ll say this for Jadis: she really pops off the screen.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will (presumably) reunite Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) — but from what’s showcased in the trailer for the upcoming series, it won’t be easy.

At one point, Terry O’Quinn’s character, Beale, asks Rick, “Why are you here? Do you want to kill, or do you want to die?” To which Rick replies, “Look in my eyes, sir. You tell me.”

The Walking Dead wrapped up its eleven season run on AMC last year, and now we are in the era of spin-off follow-ups. The first season of The Walking Dead: Dead City, focusing on the Maggie and Negan characters, played out earlier this year. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is nearing the end of its first season run (and will adding the Carol character into the mix for season 2). Next up is The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, a limited series that will be catching up with Rick and Michonne, played by Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira – and now AMC has released a teaser trailer for the show, revealing that it will start airing in February 2024.
