The producers of CNBC’s “The Profit” have beaten a $30 million arbitration lawsuit filed by the trustee of a bankrupt contestant that appeared on the show in 2015.
Last year, Lynn E. Feldman, Esquire, the Chapter 7 trustee for the estate of Pennsylvania design company Precise Graphix, LLC, sued NBCUniversal, Camping World Inc., a vehicle retailer partially owned by Marcus Lemonis, and the production company Machete for $30 million in damages, alleging that the show committed fraud and breach of contract that led to the company’s bankruptcy in 2021.
In May, an arbitrator dismissed those claims, finding that they were “unsupported by competent, credible evidence.”
“Given the complete failure of competent, credible evidence supporting her allegations at the hearing, the Trustee cannot establish the required elements of the fourteen causes of action alleged in the Demand,” arbitrator Ann Jones wrote in the ruling revealed in bankruptcy court documents on Wednesday. “Even if one...

He aims to break down walls in a physical and literal sense to rebuild lines of communication. Here, the proven mogul previews the series as he goes from The Profit to The Renovator. Where did the idea come from to pivot into doing an HGTV series? Marcus Lemonis: For a decade I did The Profit, which was working with small businesses across America. UK broadcaster Channel 4 is to remake CNBC’s The Profit in what represents the first international adaptation of the business investment show.
British production company Kalel Productions is adapting the format as a four-part series, in which serial entrepreneur Eric Collins offers investment to four struggling UK businesses in the hope they can turn around their fortunes.
Collins is the CEO of X Capital Partners, a venture capital firm that specializes in supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs across Europe. He has been named as one of the most influential Black people in Britain and the Financial Times said he was among the country’s top 100 Bame leaders in technology.

Week after week on "Shark Tank," there's unpredictable drama as entrepreneurs try to get investments and investors battle each other. The products and businesses can range from bizarre to must-have. The sharks' attempts to get a deal can be incredibly emotional and dramatic. All the show does, though, is focus on the initial deal. Yes, between pitches, "Shark Tank" does have brief segments that provide updates on previous pitches. Those usually focus on entrepreneurs that got a deal. Sometimes, companies that failed to get an investment from a shark are also included. But those are brief, 90-second summaries, not an exploration of everything that happens after the show. After making an on-camera deal, the sharks and their teams do due diligence. That's when many of the deals fall apart. Whether or not the deal goes through, when the company's episode of "Shark Tank" usually means a huge boost of attention and sales.
