Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut, “Come Swim,” has already been shown to audiences at Sundance and Cannes this year, but now it’s time for the world to discover what the indie darling has come up with in her first time behind the camera for a narrative feature. The short film, produced by David Ethan Shapiro and scored by St. Vincent, is now streaming for free as part of Refinery29’s Shatterbox Shorts program.

Back at the New York Film Festival in 2016, Stewart called directing “Come Swim” the “most satisfying” project of her career. “As an actor, you’re like a little thing that can help everyone feel this, but when it comes from you — it’s like validation in the most ultimate,” she said of directing. “You’re not alone. Twilight star among three authors of paper explaining how ‘neural style transfer’ method was put to use in her directorial debut, the 17-minute short Come Swim
Twilight and Personal Shopper Kristen Stewart has co-authored a research paper on “neural style transfer”, an arcane technique that uses artificial intelligence to reconfigure an image in the style of another.
Written with Bhautik J Joshi, a research engineer at Adobe, and producer David Shapiro, Stewart’s paper is related to work done on her short film directing debut Come Swim, which received its world premiere at the Sundance film festival on Thursday. Called Bringing Impressionism to Life with Neural Style Transfer in Come Swim, the paper was submitted on Wednesday on Cornell University library’s open-access arXiv.org website, an online repository for scientific research papers.

Sitting down with Rolling Stone, Kristen Stewart opened up about her directorial debut for Sage + the Saints' new music video.
The "Twilight" actress co-directed the clip for "Take Me To The South" with David Ethan Shapiro, using funds obtained with a grant from Buffalo David Bitton’s Blank Check Series.
“I’ve been saying I want to direct movies since I was 10 years old,” Stewart told the mag. “And then I started making movies and working with such incredible people that I realized what I was up against.”
“Basically, I’m grateful to Sage,” she explained, “because she was like, ‘I have this little thing, no one could tell the story better than you… Just do it and stop being such a p*ssy.’”
Kristen and Shapiro directed the clip for five days in Tennessee back in February, and created Sage's journey from Los Angeles to Nashville before launching her country music career.

She's a kinetic speaker, elliptical and often self-deprecating, so perhaps it's no surprise that at 24, she's already making the move to the other side of the camera. As part of its ongoing Blank Check Series, the denim/lifestyle brand Buffalo David Bitton offered Stewart a modest-but-undisclosed amount of money to "embark on a new creative journey," which the...
