Exclusive: In a seven-figure deal, Amazon Studios has beaten out more than ten film and TV offers to win screen rights to QCode mystery-sci-fi podcast The Left Right Game. Producers will include Creed and Westworld star Tessa Thompson, who led voice cast on the podcast.
In the audio drama, an idealistic journalist (Thompson) tries to make a name for herself by following a group of paranormal explorers, obsessed with a seemingly harmless pastime known as the Left/Right Game. The journey takes her into a supernatural world that she and the other members of the expedition cannot handle. Or survive.
Also among voice cast were Aml Ameen, W. Early Brown, Dayo Okeniyi and Inanna Sarkis.

Amblin Partners has acquired the film rights to develop the podcast sci-fi thriller series “Carrier” as a film and has attached Cynthia Erivo to star and produce, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
The “Carrier” audio podcast series was created by QCode and Dan Blank and starred the Oscar nominee. Blank will also write and direct the film at Amblin.
Erivo will reprise her role as Raylene, a truck driver who accepts an off-the-books, long hall trucking assignment to cover for her ill father. She soon realizes that her mysterious cargo is a threat to the world and various forces begin targeting her to control or destroy it.

The new venture will work with creatives to generate podcasts and other audio content with an emphasis on scripted, narrative stories. The La-based company is in production on content which could launch in early 2019 and I hear material is already generating screen adaptation interest. David Henning, who was running Automatik’s unscripted division, will join the Qcode team.
Podcasts are a fast-growing market and a good fit for well-connected lit agents. Herting started his career at Endeavor and Verve before moving to CAA where he represented writers, directors and producers including Fast And The Furious 9 writer Dan Casey, Bad Boys 3 directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Wheelman director Jeremy Rush, Spiderman Homecoming writer Chris Ford and Kidding creator Dave Holstein. His clients have remained at CAA.

The screenplay, by Los Angeles writer and producer Kristina Lauren Anderson, was announced as part of an hour-plus process on Twitter and YouTube this morning.
Each of the 70 screenplays on this 10th annual list was chosen by a group of 250 development executives, agents and other Hollywood insiders as among the year’s best un-produced scripts in a process overseen by Franklin Leonard of http://www.blcklst.com. Anderson’s screenplay received 51 votes.
Other notables in the list include writer/actor/director Kenneth Lonergan with Manchester-By-The-Sea, which is being produced by Matt Damon and Chris Moore. Randall Green had two scripts make the list, The Swimsuit Issue and Cartoon Girl.
