It’s been over 40 years since the pioneering hip hop group Run-dmc formed in Hollis, Queens, but Darryl “Dmc” McDaniels insists, “I remember everything like it was yesterday.”
He appeared at Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary & Unscripted virtual event to discuss the Peacock docuseries Kings from Queens: The Run Dmc Story, which chronicles the group’s incredible achievements and influence. Along with McDaniels, Run-dmc was comprised of Joseph “Run” Simmons and the late Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell.
“We’re going back to 1980,” producer/EP William H. Masterson III said of the series, “when really hip hop was relatively small, and taking the viewer on a ride with these three young men from Queens that came together and really changed a lot — changed pop, changed fashion, changed music, changed race relations between white people and Black people.”

Reggie Bush is ready to tell his side of the story in a new documentary from Believe Entertainment Group, the studio behind the Oscar-winning “Dear Basketball.”
Before he achieved NFL stardom as a running back for the New Orleans Saints, Bush was one of the top college football players in the country. But his time as one of the leading lights of USC football was marred by allegations that he and his family improperly received nearly $300,000 gifts while he was a student. As a penalty, Bush’s achievements on the field were erased from the NCAA record books and USC was forced to return his Heisman Trophy. Kirk Fraser (ESPN’s “30 for 30: Without Bias”) is set to direct the film, which will look at Bush’s role in leading USC to multiple national championships, as well as the scandal that overshadowed that legacy.

Recently, it seems like large corporations just can’t help investing in media companies. British broadcasting and television company ITV is now following suit by investing in New York-based Believe Entertainment Group. Specializing “in developing premium entertainment with A-list talent and matching them with global brands,” Believe Entertainment has several new initiatives in development which will be announced in the near future. “As the entertainment industry continues to converge to meet the demands of consumers and how they want to view content, this partnership offers both companies a distinct competitive advantage,” said Dan Goodman and William H. Masterson III, co-founders of Believe Entertainment Group,...
