Ever since her breakout role of starring role of Max Fox in FX’s comedy-drama series Better Things, we have all known that Mikey Madison is going to be a star and now with her upcoming film Anora winning Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2024 the young actress is well on her way to becoming an acting-powerhouse. Madison began her career at a very young age by starring in a couple of short films and then she starred in her first feature film Liza, Liza, Skies Are Grey in 2014 when she was 15-years-old but the film didn’t get released until 2017. Since then she has starred in many great films including a small role in Quentin Tarrantino‘s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin‘s Scream. So, if you also enjoy Mikey Madison’s performances here are her best movies and TV...

"Moonrise Kingdom" was the film that made me fall in love with Wes Anderson's work. It's not that I disliked his earlier stuff; ironically, one of his least well-received films, "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou," was also the one that started turning me onto his movies in the first place. Yet, it was 2012's "Moonrise Kingdom" that solidified me as a Fanderson or Westie or whatever you call those who can't get enough of the quirky cineaste's funny, melancholic, meticulously curated art.
The movie centers on a pair of eccentric 12-year-olds -- orphan and devoted Khaki Scout Sam (Jared Gilman) and rebellious Suzy (Kara Hayward) -- who develop a romantic attraction to one another and, feeling alienated from the rest of their community on the small fictional island of New Penzance, conspire to run away together. Meanwhile, the adults in their lives scramble to bring them home, yet...

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe films, an attempt to take villains and supporting characters they have pre-mcu rights to and make them A Thing, have had at best mixed success. But since the first “Madame Web” trailer dropped, fans have latched onto star Dakota Johnson’s delivery of a line describing the movie’s villain, Ezekiel Sims.
“He was in the Amazon with my mom, when she was researching spiders, right before she died,” Johnson’s Cassandra Webb intones as part of a number of voiceover lines that don’t seem to draw much emotion from the actress. And yes, “Webb” is her character’s last name even before developing precog powers allowing her to see events before they transpire — and change them.
The text has been joined with the bashful Kevin James meme:
What am I, some kind of researcher in the Amazon with your mom when she was researching spiders right before she died?...

Wes Anderson has once again recruited Jason Schwartzman for another one of his films. Over the past two decades, the pair have worked together several times, including on "Rushmore," "Fantastic Mr. Fox," and "Moonrise Kingdom." Now, Schwartzman is the star of Anderson's latest theatrical release, "Asteroid City," which premiered on June 16. The period film, which takes place during the 1950s, follows a group of gifted students and their parents who visit a desert town for the annual Junior Stargazer convention. During their stay, they experience a mysterious cosmic event together.
Schwartzman plays a war photographer named Augie Steenbeck, whose son, Woodrow (Jake Ryan), is a Junior Stargazer winner. Also making up the cast are Scarlett Johansson as actor Midge Campbell; Tom Hanks as Augie's father-in-law, Stanley Zak; Jeffrey Wright as the convention's host, General Grif Gibson; and Tilda Swinton as scientist Dr. Hickenlooper.

While not every film director has a distinct imprimatur, Wes Anderson’s whimsical diorama schtick has gotten more pronounced over time. “The Royal Tenenbaums,” which seemed so meticulously crafted back in 2001, practically looks like Frederick Wiseman-vérité compared to clips of the upcoming “Asteroid City.”
Anyhow, with such bold aesthetic choices will naturally come reprisals—like jokers on the internet aping your style with the use of A.I. to make it look like you’ve directed a “Star Wars” movie. That brings us to the collective known as Curious Refuge, and their fake trailer for Anderson’s “The Galactic Menagerie.”
Personally, I can’t decide which shot I like best, the three Tie fighters with pastel hues just kinda staring at the lens or “Owen Wilson” as Darth Vader.

Poor Wes Anderson. The filmmaker must rue the day the masses were able to use artificial intelligence to create tribute content that mimicked his signature visual style.
The latest piece of Anderson-like content to go viral is a trailer for The Galactic Menagerie, a YouTube clip created by the Curious Refuge channel. The trailer wonders what a Star Wars film would look like if Anderson had directed it, and features a lot of supposed traits that the filmmaker is known for, including symmetry, pastel colors, sardonic narration, painstaking attention to detail and offbeat humor. The mock cast also includes Anderson regulars Scarlett Johansson, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Willem Defoe, Ed Norton, Timothée Chalamet and Owen Wilson as Darth Vader.
The Galactic Menagerie was posted on April 29, but reposted by various accounts on Twitter on Sunday where it has been seen and liked by millions and commented on by thousands.

In May, Prime Video will return to the world of live awards shows as it again broadcasts the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 11. The major event will be hosted by country-music superstars Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks. The 58th ACM Awards will stream live from The Star in Frisco, Texas. One of the benefits of an awards show on a streaming service is that it doesn’t run commercials. If Prime Video continues the tradition it started last year, the ACMs will utilize the entire venue to keep the action moving throughout the show.
Coming to the streaming service in May is Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom,” a charming, stylized coming-of-age adventure about two offbeat 12-year-olds (played by Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman) who find solace in each other. Their touching romance is a potent reminder that love comes at all ages — and adults have much to learn from children.

"It is way more beautiful to watch a rhinoceros be a rhinoceros, than try to be an elephant." Gunpowder & Sky has unveiled an official trailer for another amusing contemporary take on the classic play "Cyrano de Bergerac" called It Takes Three, the latest from actor / filmmaker Scott Coffey. This young love romantic comedy is described as a "John Hughes spin" on the Cyrano de Bergerac story. When Chris, the coolest guy in school discovers that Roxy sees through his popularity and good looks, he enlists Cy to reverse catfish her-letting him take over his social media accounts. Signals are crossed, hearts are broken, but in this "post-modern rom-com," nothing turns out as you'd expect. It Takes Three stars Jared Gilman (from Moonrise Kingdom), with Aurora Perrineau, Mikey Madison, David Gridley, and Monk Serrell Freed. This looks sweet and kinda funny, but not that original in the end. Though I admit...

Over the course of his long career, Cheech Marin has toked up with Tommy Chong in umpteenth Cheech & Chong movies, hung out on the driving range with Kevin Costner in “Tin Cup” and rode shotgun with Don Johnson on “Nash Bridges.” But he’s never taken on a role quite like the one he’ll be playing in “Lapham Rising.” The actor will be lending his distinctive voice to role of Hector, a born-again evangelical and unapologetic capitalist talking dog. In case you’re wondering about his breed, he’s a Westy.
Marin joins a distinguished cast, which includes such heavyweights as Frank Langella, Stockard Channing, Bobby Cannavale, Ashley Benson, Katie Parker, Stelio Savante and Jared Gilman
Marin completed his voice work for the role recently in Santa Barbara. With its story set in the Hamptons, the film completed live-action principal photography on location in Minnesota before the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown went into effect.

Focus Features treated Wes Anderson fans to a free “Moonrise Kingdom” live stream this week that was accompanied by a Q&a with Anderson himself throughout the film’s runtime. The “Moonrise Kingdom” screening was the latest in Focus’ new “Movie Mondays” screening series, which includes upcoming showings of Pawel Pawlikowski’s “My Summer of Love” and “Mallrats” with a live Kevin Smith Q&a. Anderson was asked by a fan during the screening which original character he considers to be his most important and personal, and the writer-director didn’t need to look very far. Anderson selected Suzy Bishop, the troubled and endlessly cool female protagonist of “Moonrise Kingdom” played by Kara Hayward.
“Well, I suppose the girl in that movie might use quite a bit of my own personal experiences,” Anderson said. “She finds a little booklet called ‘Coping with the Troubled Child,’ and she knows which child it has to be…...

Describing what happens in Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom will take some time. It’ll sound like a seemingly random series of characters and quirks that don’t have much relation to each other, but as you’re watching the film, every single one of them not only seems natural, but completely necessary. This film takes place off the coast of New England, in the mid-’60s, only because I think it’s an appropriate time for Anderson to use some of the pop music he likes. The time period doesn’t matter, though, not in a Wes Anderson film. They take place, anywhere, and wherever he wants them too, and rewrites the rules as he sees fit. There’s a few things that he always has: funny insert shots, often with words elaborating on something, that play similar to title cards in silent films, he has wide-angle dolly shots,...

We all have predisposed notions about the infamous “romantic comedy.” As with other genres, there’s a large subsection of offerings, giving it a bad name. But, for every tired, cliché-driven comedy, there is another impressive offering that redefines the genre, garners plenty of laughs, and tells an honest story about love and relationships, however warped they may be. In the coming weeks, we’ll take a look at the fifty romantic comedy films that should be seen. These may not all be classic films, but they certainly put a stamp on the industry and the genre we affectionately call “rom-coms.”

Wes Anderson movies have a lot in common. You could rename most of them "Ooh, Look At Us In Our Little Outfits!" Some feel like cupcake shops with dialogue. But even if you don't lap up every last morsel of quaintness in "The Grand Budapest Hotel" or "The Royal Tenenbaums," you're always left with lasting Technicolor images that force you to acknowledge he's a genuine auteur. The uniformly great acting is a nice touch too. Perhaps the purest example of the Andersonian form is "Moonrise Kingdom," a movie that blends innocent longing and a Roald Dahl-like cast of grimacing grownups. Since it's available on Netflix to stream, we thought we'd reacquaint you with a few of its best images. 1. Absurd Tilda glamor "Grand Budapest Hotel" upped Tilda's bar for stunning makeunders, but her turn as Social Services in "Moonrise Kingdom" was nothing but a gorgeous reinvention. A smirking headmistress never looked so radiant.

Wes Anderson’s marvelous 2012 comedy, Moonrise Kingdom, was previously released on Blu-ray and DVD, but The Criterion Collection has seen fit to issue an edition that blows the old one away. With an abundance of fun, entertaining supplements and packaged ephemera—Criterion’s disc is in keeping with the other fine releases the company has done for the filmmaker.
Moonrise Kingdom is the first Wes Anderson movie I truly fell in love with. While I liked and appreciated his earlier pictures, Moonrise is a flawless masterpiece of style and wit—as is Anderson’s following film, The Grand Budapest Hotel. For my money, these are two slam-bang pieces of comic brilliance.
The setting is a small fictional New England island, during one summer in the Sixties. A Boy Scout troop camps out there. Some families live on the island, others visit for the season.

It would take a lot to squander the talents of Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer, but Elsa & Fred comes awfully close to doing so. Without much to recommend beyond the merits of the veteran actors, the inconsequential romantic drama swerves from being pondering to pleasant and back again. During the scenes of the couple’s impromptu running around the bustling city, trying to find a spark through more delinquent pleasures, the film finds its pulse. When we are locked in their apartments, watching their strained attempts at finding friendship, Elsa & Fred is dragged down by the screenplay’s inactivity.
Indifferently directed by Michael Radford of Il Postino fame, the drama focuses on two seniors living in adjacent, golden-lit New Orleans apartments. Elsa Hayes (MacLaine) is a bit of a troublemaker, trying to get out of paying for damaging a sports car by playing up her oblivious senior citizen qualities. Divorced...

Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah debuted in theaters this weekend and we have to say that we were pleasantly surprised by how hot all the Biblical characters were. Look, the Bible says nothing about Noah looking like Russell Crowe or his wife having the porcelain complexion of Jennifer Connelly or that his sons were super hot or that Emma Watson was even there. We’re totally fine with all the liberties that Hollywood took with the age old Biblical tale. In fact, we have some Bible stories we’d like Hollywood to tackle next.
The story of “Jacob and Esau” is kind of like “Cain and Abel Lite,” so why not beef up our interest in the classic tale of inheritance, jealousy and lentil stew by casting Ryan Gosling and Jake Gyllenhaal as the battling brothers? The tale of how Judith decapitated Holofernes seems like something out of...

You might recognize Clara Mamet from her ABC show The Neighbors, which is about keeping up with the Joneses—if the Joneses were aliens. (Much like Keeping Up with the Kardashians, except Neighbors is scripted.) Or you might recognize her because she looks quite a bit like her sister Zosia Mamet, who plays Shoshanna on Girls. (Yep, that makes her another daughter of David Mamet.)
But soon, you may recognize her from movies as well. Mamet just wrote, directed and starred in her first film, Two-Bit Waltz, an autobiographical jaunt that features William H. Macy (Fargo), Rebecca Pigeon (Red), and...

#50. Moonrise Kingdom (2012)
Most of Wes Anderson’s films could be described as romantic comedies, but his 2012 effort stands out, as its central story focuses on young love and the need to find acceptance. In Anderson’s world, while quirks abound, true connections between characters are commonplace. With Moonrise Kingdom,...

What if you could book your next vacation at a Wes Anderson-designed inn straight out of a snow-capped fairytale?
That’s the whimsical setting for the first trailer for The Grand Budapest Hotel. It stars Ralph Fiennes as a charismatic, cougar-loving concierge Gustave H and Tony Revolori as his doting, lobby-boy-in-training Zero Moustafa. (The casting of Revolori, a relatively unknown young lead, is similar to the the casting of young lovers played by Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward in last year’s Moonrise Kingdom.)

Let’s face it: Being a child star is not easy. Luckily, with the guidance and advice of pint-size psychologist Kiernan Shipka, the job can be handled with ease.
In this sequel to Funny or Die’s first installment of “Child Star Psychologist,” the Mad Men starlet — looking all grown up in a pink silk blouse — uses what she learned from her early days as Sally Draper to council kid actors including Looper’s Pierce Gagnon, Modern Family’s Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, and Moonrise Kingdom’s Jared Gilman. And don’t let her cuteness fool you: Kiernan — er, Dr. Shipka — is...

Every week, EW will imagine a sequel to a movie that we wish would happen — no matter how unlikely the idea really is.
Wes Anderson doesn’t do actual sequels. He just doesn’t. He and his partners create intricately imagined idiosyncratic worlds and contained stories that function on their own. They don’t need origins or postscripts. And I truly wouldn’t have it any other way. I don’t want to see those brothers take a trip to Macau or Duluth. I don’t care what Margot and Richie and Chas do for Thanksgiving 10 years later. And I...

After years of being stuck in development hell, Artemis Fowl, the "twelve-year-old James Bond villain" with a heart of gold, is finally coming to the big screen with "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" screenwriter, Michael Goldenberg penning the screenplay for Disney and producer Harvey Weinstein.
We're obviously still a long time away from much more real news about the first movie, which will cover the stories of the first two books of the series, "Artemis Fowl" and "The Arctic Incident," but the most important concern for anyone bringing these books to the screen is casting the right lead.
While it's pretty hard to find a decent 12-year-old actor, we have a few (almost) age-appropriate suggestions to play Artemis Fowl, if producers decide to go with a higher-profile star.
Asa Butterfield
Though the "Hugo" and "Ender's Game" star certainly isn't 12 years-old anymore, Butterfield has the whole Artemis look down.

Hoping for a prize for her smooching skills, Kerry Washington arrived at Sony Pictures Studios for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards tonight (April 14).
Teaming up with co-star Jamie Foxx, the 36-year-old actress showed off her gorgeous gown before heading inside for the main event.
This year, the 36-year-old actress is nominated with Foxx for best kiss for their puckering up skills in the film. Challenging them in the category are Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg, and Emma Watson and Logan Lerman.
Additionally, her film, "Django Unchained" and "Ted" lead the pack with seven nominations, while "Silver Linings Playbook" follows with six. "The Dark Knight Rises" has five nods and "The Avengers," "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," "Pitch Perfect," and "Skyfall" each have four.

Twi-boycott of MTV prize-giving ceremony following Stewart-Pattinson 'Best Kiss' snub this year Whatever you say about the Twilight Saga fans, there's one thing you must admit: they do take their sacred idols quite seriously. Pictured above: A very casually dressed Logan Lerman on the Mma red carpet. Please scroll down to check out more Mma 2013 pictures. This year, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were not to be found among the 2013 MTV Movie Awards' Best Kiss nominees. That's incomprehensible -- well, until one comes to the realization that the MTV powers-that-be who handpick the nominees in each category most likely felt that the MTV Movie Awards had been transmogrified into the Twi-Movie Awards, and as a result felt it necessary to expand the show's viewership, especially considering that Twilight is now a movie series of the past. Indeed, this marks the first time that a Stewart-Pattinson kiss has gone un-nominated in the past five years.

The 2013 MTV Movie Awards nominees were released today, Mar. 6, and I see one Glaring omission. How the heck did they forget Rob and Kristen for Best Kiss!?
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s Edward Cullen and Bella Swan from Breaking Dawn Part 2 weren’t nominated for Best Kiss by the 2013 MTV Movie Awards. Let that sink in.
Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart — Totally Snubbed!
I’m writing this because I can barely speak — I’m that surprised. This is like if Daniel Day Lewis didn’t get nominated for an Oscar for his role in Lincoln. This is like if the NBA had told Michael Jordan in 1998 that he wasn’t allowed to play anymore.
Because Rob and Kristen are literally the Michael Jordans of the MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss category. The couple has won the award Four years in a row! Every installation of the Twilight saga has returned a Best Kiss victory.

Now that the Academy Awards are but a distant past, it's time for the crazy, silly MTV Movie Awards! I love the categories such as Best Kiss, Best Shirtless Performance, and Best Wtf Moment. But it's also about the craft with Oscar nominees such as "Django Unchained" and "Silver Linings Playbook" duking it out with fan (and critics) faves "Ted," "The Avengers," and "The Dark Knight Rises" for the Movie of the Year award.
The MTV Movie Awards is really about and for the fans so they can vote for the winners which will be announced April 14. The funny Rebel Wilson will host the festivities where Will Ferrell will receive the Comedic Genius Award! Yes, genius!

Remember when Twilight was the king of the MTV Movie Awards? The monster film franchise adapted from the Stephenie Meyer novels have won a total of 16 buckets of golden popcorn, making it one of the most successful franchises in Movie Awards history, which is a sentence that make the MTV Movie Awards sound far more important than they actually are, but I digress.
Fact of the matter is, the Breaking Dawn installations of Twilight have been the weakest popcorn nod earners for the franchise: possibly because MTV wants other flicks to get a chance at the awards, or maybe because they've decided that Twilight is a horrible thing after all (and it's way too late to decide that). Breaking Dawn Part 2, the very last film of the saga, only garnered a single nomination in new category Best Shirtless Performance for the film's resident jailbait hunk, Taylor Lautner.

After lavishing the "Twilight" franchise with countless awards over the past few years, the biggest surprise of the 2013 MTV Movie Award nominations is that the final film in that saga only scored one nomination.
