This article contains Glass Onion spoilers.
Agatha Christie once famously said, “Every murderer is probably somebody’s old friend.” Perhaps that’s why in Rian Johnson’s latest whodunit, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, the filmmaker has littered the screen with pals. If Benoit Blanc—who is winsomely as ever played by Daniel Craig—is a pursuer of the truth, and the vigilant hound dog chasing hidden murderers wherever they may dwell, surely he is then conscious of the company he keeps? There might even be some murderers in his midst… or at least fellow detectives.
Indeed, Johnson and Craig use their second Benoit Blanc picture to invite a lot of real-life friends to come out and play, and many of whom’s appearances have hidden ulterior motives that only the most eagle-eyed sleuths might notice. Let us explain…

There are many reasons why you might know Ana de Armas. The actress has made headlines over the last few years for all sorts of reasons — alongside the pandemic, Hollywood gossip fans will remember 2020 as the year of BenAna, the fleeting romance between de Armas and Ben Affleck that ended with the unceremonious tossing into a dumpster of a life-size cardboard cutout of the actress — but she is perhaps most well known for her role as the unassuming Marta Cabrera in Rian Johnson's 2019 murder mystery hit, "Knives Out."
However, prior to charming us as the shy nurse who ends up inheriting an entire fortune, de Armas was busy building a name for herself in other films. Fans may have first seen her in the 2015 psychological horror remake "Knock Knock," which stars Keanu Reeves as a man who is held captive by two women who have made a hobby out...

For the most devoted defenders of the theatrical experience, it will probably make no damn sense. It compels them though. Rian Johnson’s Knives Out 2 and Knives Out 3 are headed to a Netflix account near you thanks to a landmark deal that makes streaming history, and gives Netflix its first major film franchise.
News of the development was broken late Wednesday by Deadline, who reported the streaming service is closing a deal with Johnson and his producing partner Ram Bergman to release two Knives Out sequels. Each will see Daniel Craig return as Benoit Blanc, the Last of the Gentleman Sleuths.
Considering the first Knives Out was the sleeper hit of the holiday season in 2019—back when movie theaters could have holiday seasons—this is obviously a surprise. After all, the first film grossed $311 million for Lionsgate on a relatively modest $40 million budget. Why would Lionsgate not want to double down on that deal?...

If you don’t already know actress Ana de Armas, you soon will.
The Cuban born actress starred in various American and Spanish films before her breakout role as the AI hologram Joi in the 2017 film, Blade Runner 2049 — but many may best recognize the starlet from her role as nurse Marta Cabrera in the 2019 hit mystery film, Knives Out.
Armas has recently been linked to fellow actor Ben Affleck and has a slew of projects in the works that prove the actress is showing no signs of slowing down.
So who exactly is she? Here’s everything to know...

After a lackluster summer where there were far more misses than hits, audiences were hungry for something fresh, something different. Lionsgate met that need with the surprise hit, Knives Out, which is out now on disc.
It’s a contemporary take on the kind of murder mysteries Agatha Christie made a career out of and like the film adaptations of her works, this comes with a stellar cast. Rian Johnson, who wrote and directed the feature, serves up an incredibly enjoyable tale, letting familiar performers work outside their familiar character types.
We have world-famous author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) and his immediate family gathering for an 80th birthday party, but by midnight, he’s dead with all four children suspects in the crime.
Lieutenant Elliott (Lakeith Stanfield) and a trooper Wagner (Noah Segan), perhaps the weakest written characters in the film, have been taking statements and investigating but seem to be getting nowhere.

In Rian Johnson’s subversive whodunnit, Knives Out, thinking like a killer actually brings out the best in you.
This article contains major Knives Out spoilers. You can find a spoiler-free review here.
Murder is not the worst thing to happen in Rian Johnson’s shrewd, incisive whodunnit Knives Out. The sparkling, secret truth at the heart of Benoit Blanc’s investigation—and how Johnson brilliantly subverts the entire genre—is the even greater depths to which the Thrombey clan can sink to protect their wealth. Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) dies on his 85th birthday, arguably at the peak of his career, which also coincides with the end of a good, long life. By contrast, per Kayti Burt’s deft analysis of the film, the nastiness of privilege that drives Harlan’s potential heirs threatens to destroy the future of Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas). They come,...

Old fashioned murder mysteries clearly appeal to Rian Johnson. The filmmaker has an affinity for those long time entertainment staples, and it’s that affection that helps him so deftly sharpen and update the tropes in Knives Out, his fiendishly clever whodunit. With a star studded ensemble cast, strong writing, a total sense of play, and third act that truly comes alive, this movie has a lot going in its favor. For a while, you may wonder what all of the fuss is about, but by the time the credits roll, you’ll understand. It hits theaters tomorrow and is a fantastic option for any dysfunctional family on Thanksgiving. The film is a crime dramedy/murder mystery, deftly mixing old school whodunit elements with a real new school approach. When famous crime novelist and family patriarch Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead following his 85th birthday party, the entire Thrombey clan is a suspect.
