To mark the first day of Sen. Bob Menendez’s corruption trial, Jon Stewart took the opportunity during Monday’s episode of the Daily Show to point out how unnecessary the whole thing was and joked that the whole thing could have been avoided if the senator had been properly educated on “legal corruption.”
Last September, Menendez was indicted alongside his wife Nadine Menendez for allegedly accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for the senator’s influence. Stewart revisited the alleged crimes in the case including...

Jon Stewart returned to host The Daily Show on Monday night, and it’s taking a toll on him, as he also helmed the show last Thursday.
“I hosted on Thursday, and I’m back on Monday,” he jokingly said. “I just don’t know how much longer I could do this — barely any rest. just slept in a hyperbaric chamber all weekend.”
Stewart was absent from the show last Monday as he traded hosting duties for Thursday. The move was to accommodate Stewart being in LA for the Netflix Is A Joke festival and appearing on John Mulaney’s live show. Jordan Klepper took Monday, while Stewart took hosting duties on Thursday.
Despite Stewart joking he barely got any rest from The Daily Show, it was recently announced he would be adding to his job duties with a new podcast from Comedy Central set to launch in June and titled The Weekly Show....

Jimmy Kimmel gave a hitchhiking Bruce Springsteen a lift—at least that’s what Kimmel’s daughter thought.
In an interview with Good Morning America today, Kimmel revealed the origins of Stewart’s surprise appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, and his daughter’s reaction to the bit.
The pre-taped segment featured Kimmel and his wife—co-head writer and executive producer Molly McNearney—driving their kids Jane and Billy to school and picking up a hitchhiking Stewart along the way. The bit was a reference to a Jkl segment from six months ago, when Kimmel picked up Olivia Rodrigo, who his kids are huge fans of.
Unsurprisingly, they were less interested in carpooling with Stewart.
“We picked up Olivia Rodrigo, and then Jon called and said, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun if you picked me up and then the kids don’t know who I am?,’” Kimmel told GMA.

Hollywood as an institution is generally known for taking a strong stance towards positively promoting feminism. Kristen Stewart took aim at this trend in a recent interview. Stewart has been facing difficulties in getting funding for her directorial feature film, The Chronology of Water.
The actress pulled no punches and went after Hollywood for congratulating itself for its progressiveness while not doing enough to further it. Stewart made it clear that she thinks the industry has a long way to go when it comes to dismantling the patriarchal nature of society. The actress also pointed out that favoring the projects of a certain few actresses does not make the whole system inherently less patriarchal.

After the pop culture-breaking Twilight films, Kristen Stewart was thrown into Hollywood’s stratosphere. Since then, the actress has been making smart moves in her career.

Kristen Stewart, famously known for her Twilight films has navigated her career from appearing in films to making them. Currently, she’s gearing up for the release of her directorial debut The Chronology of Water, which forced her to face plenty of financial struggles and witness the ugly side of Hollywood’s women empowerment.

It’s official. Galactus is coming to the MCU.
After months of speculation, Marvel officially announced that they’ve found their Galactus. Ralph Ineson, a Game of Thrones veteran known for standout supporting roles in The Witch and The Green Knight, will portray the Devourer of Worlds. Ineson’s casting comes on the heels of other compelling announcements for its upcoming film The Fantastic Four, including Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich. Marvel hasn’t yet disclosed which characters those two are playing, but the smart money has Hauser down for the Mole Man. Malkovich could fit a number of characters, including minor baddies Puppet Master or Diablo, including just a grouchy official. Heck, maybe he’ll finally get to play a version of the Vulture, as he was slated to do in Sam Raimi’s abandoned Spider-Man 4!
While any of those baddies would be fun, the Galactus casting deserves the most attention.

Jon Stewart has been watching the television coverage of the Donald Trump hush money trial, but that doesn’t mean he has to like it.
“It has been another big week of wall-to-wall, nonstop penis-to-penis coverage of Donald Trump’s trial,” Stewart said at the start of his Comedy Central The Daily Show monologue Thursday (he switched from his usual Monday night spot this week). “The ubiquitous coverage is numbing, fading into televised wallpaper with insight that only occasionally crackles through.”
Some examples of that insight? Cue the tapes:
CNN reports that Donald Trump greeted Stormy Daniels in that hotel room wearing “satin or silk pajamas.”
Said Stewart: “Which?! I need to know!”
Another report, stating Stormy and Donald had sex “in the missionary position.”
Said Stewart: “No wonder Trump has locked up the Evangelical voting bloc….Tell us more.”
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell: “Not wearing a condom…”
Stewart: “Don’t tell us more!

Cannes Looms Large
The build-up: The 81st Cannes Film Festival kicks off in less than a week but all the early talk surrounding the fest is about events away from the big screen. The French industry is currently in a state of paralysis as speculation continues to mount in the local film industry over rumors that a bombshell #MeToo exposé will drop on the festival’s first day. There has been talk in the French film industry for weeks that a raft of accusations is due to break in the lead-up and during the upcoming edition. The rumors come amid a fresh #MeToo wave in France, sparked by actress and filmmaker Judith Godrèche’s decision to...

Jon Stewart continued with his criticism of the media’s coverage of Donald Trump’s New York trial during Thursday’s episode of The Daily Show. “It has been another big week of wall-to-wall, nonstop penis-to-penis coverage of Donald Trump’s trial,” Stewart said at the start of his monologue.
Stewart, who typically hosts Monday night episodes of the Comedy Central show, missed the start of this week in a pre-announced absence that was likely due to his live appearances in Los Angeles last weekend. Instead, he hosted this week’s Thursday episode.
Also, this week, Stormy Daniels testified in the former president’s New York hush money trial, further fueling an onslaught of headlines regarding the lawsuit.
“The ubiquitous coverage is numbing, fading into televised wallpaper with insight that only occasionally crackles through,” Stewart continued.
This week’s episode is not Stewart’s first time going after the media’s coverage of the trial.

One weekly show for Jon Stewart just isn’t enough.
In addition to his once-a-week gig on The Daily Show, Stewart has signed on to host a new podcast for Comedy Central, The Weekly Show.
Deadline reports that Stewart’s show will be a deeper dive into Tds-esque topics, and will be available through all major podcast outlets.
Like The Daily Show, the podcast will feature interviews with “newsmakers, authors, and celebrities,” and will see the host discussing “the most critical topics across current events.”
Notably, The Weekly Show differs from The Daily Show’s own podcast, The Daily Show: Ears Edition. While a feed for The Weekly Show has not yet been announced, it appears that Stewart may utilize the existing podcast feed from his Apple TV+ series The Problem with Jon Stewart for this new show.

Jon Stewart may only be hosting The Daily Show once a week, but when it comes to his beef with Arby’s, he’s all in.
Stewart has a long history of making Arby’s the butt of his jokes, dating back to his original tenure on The Daily Show. Where other brands might have sent “cease and desist” letters, Arby’s lapped up the free publicity, and ultimately took out ads on the show in response.
Now that Stewart is back hosting The Daily Show, it was probably only a matter of time before Arby’s would come up. This time, though, Jimmy Kimmel was the instigator.
Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! featured a pre-taped bit in which Kimmel picked up a hitchhiking Stewart and drove him to an Arby’s location in Hollywood.

The actor said that making movies by a small number of female film-makers was not cause for celebration. ‘You’re like, Ok, cool. You’ve chosen four’
Kristen Stewart has chastised Hollywood’s efforts at gender equality, saying that the industry clapping itself on the back for an embrace of female film-makers “feels phony”.
Speaking to Porter magazine for the release of Love Lies Bleeding, a violent romance set in the world of female bodybuilding, Stewart said much of the high-profile greenlighting of female stories was lip service.

Kristin Stewart is bitterly calling out Hollywood phoniness.
In a cover interview for Porter magazine, the actress claimed a select group of women are the go-to in the studio world, and that more change is needed.
“[There’s a] thinking that we can check these little boxes, and then do away with the patriarchy, and how we’re all made of it,” Stewart said. “It’s easy for them to be like, ‘Look what we’re doing. We’re making Maggie Gyllenhaal’s movie! We’re making Margot Robbie’s movie!’ And you’re like, ‘Ok, cool. You’ve chosen four.’
“And I’m in awe of those women, I love those women, [but] it feels phony,” Stewart continued. “If we’re congratulating each other for broadening perspective, when we haven’t really done enough, then we stop broadening.”
Stewart is focusing on her feature directorial debut, The Chronology of Water.

Kristen Stewart recently graced the cover of Porter magazine and called out “phony” Hollywood for how it often self-congratulates itself for doing away with the patriarchy when in reality, Hollywood has just prioritized a select group of women to operate in the studio world. While progress is being made, Stewart rang the alarm by saying changes for women in Hollywood are not as broad as Hollywood might like to make it out to be.

Maggie is a renowned filmmaker and actress, the older sister of established actor Jake Gyllenhaal. On the other hand, Margot’s fame grew exponentially after starring in Greta Gerwig’s film Barbie. Robbie’s movie did exceptionally well at the box office last year.

When first we heard that Jon Stewart was switching up his Daily Show schedule this week, we assumed it had something to do with the Netflix Is a Joke festival, where he had a show Friday night.
What we didn’t know at the time was that instead of sitting behind the desk of his own show this Monday night, he’d be visiting two other late-night shows instead.
In order of appearance, the first stop on Stewart’s Monday night comedy tour was episode #2 of Everybody’s in L.A., John Mulaney’s six-episode experiment of a live late-night show for Netflix. The delightfully frenetic show—which includes viewer calls, random tangents from announcer/actor Richard Kind, and plenty of unintended snafus—had Stewart simultaneously confused, amazed, and seemingly terrified.
“I feel like this entire show is a Banksy,” he finally declared. “I feel like, at the end of this,...

First on LateNighter: Jon Stewart won’t be on The Daily Show tonight, but you just might see him on two others.
Stewart was already set to appear tonight on John Mulaney Presents Everybody’s in L.A., the six-episode talk show streaming live on Netflix all this week.
But if Jimmy Kimmel’s latest Instagram post is any indication, it seems the Daily Show host may also be dropping by Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“Ran into a stranger this morning,” Kimmel captioned an Instagram photo of himself with Stewart. “Invited him on the show tonight.”The pair are pictured outside an Arby’s—the fast-food chain Stewart has had a, uh, beef with for years.

Kristen Stewart has been at the forefront of the media for many years now. Having starred in many different roles and worn many different faces, she has established herself as a truly versatile actress. While acting seems to have been more than a little fulfilling, it would seem that Stewart has been seeking something more for a few years.
Kristen Stewart in the role of Bella Swan in a still from Twilight
In 2018, the actress announced at the Cannes Film Festival that she would be making her directorial debut. While not much was heard about the project in the years that followed, the actress has finally spoken up about it, and the details are quite fascinating.
Not only would many of her fans be surprised at the approach she is taking with her first film, but the project may also spark some controversy.

Kristen Stewart Directing First Film in Latvia Because She Needs “Radical Detachment” From Hollywood
For Kristen Stewart’s adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir The Chronology of Water, which marks her feature film directorial debut, the actress is stepping away from Hollywood. Instead of filming the Imogen Poots-starring biographical drama in Los Angeles, Stewart is planning to shoot the movie in Europe.
Speaking with Net-a-Porter, the Love Lies Bleeding star shared that she is making The Chronology of Water in Latvia. She told the publication that the decision stemmed from craving creative freedom without the confines of Tinseltown.
“It’s a fledging film culture there [in Latvia],” she explained. “Look, I’m all about the way we make movies here [in the US], but I needed a sort of radical detachment. I am not a director yet. I need to make a student film. I can’t do that here.”

Kristen Stewart says Hollywood does the bare minimum when it comes to supporting female filmmakers. Well, more than four of them.
Stewart, who is set to make her directorial debut with an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch memoir “The Chronology of Water,” told Porter magazine that there is a “phony” performative structure to which women filmmakers find success in the film industry.

John Mulaney Presents Everybody’s in L.A. proved to be very much a late-night styled talk show in its live premiere Friday night on Netflix. Now like any good late night show, the six-episode miniseries is revealing its lineup for the coming week—and, as promised, it’s a doozy.
Leading things off tonight (and explaining this week’s Daily Show scheduling switcheroo) is none other than Jon Stewart. Stewart, like most of Mulaney’s guests this week, is in Los Angeles for the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival. He performed over the weekend at L.A.’s Greek Theatre.
Other guests sitting down with Mulaney later in the week include Nate Bargatze, Sarah Silverman, David Letterman, Bill Hader, Rony Chieng, and Hannah Gadsby.
Each night also features a musical performace, with Warren G kicking things off tonight, followed by Joyce Manor, Weezer, Los Lobos, and Beck.

Rose Glass’s follow-up to her acclaimed Saint Maud is a scorchingly sexy, darkly violent tale of a gym manager’s love affair with a bodybuilder
This may seem an unexpected point to make about an actor who is arguably one of the coolest people on the planet, but the key to Kristen Stewart’s mesmerising screen presence is her ordinariness. I don’t mean her looks, although as Lou, the manager of a bodybuilding gym in an insalubrious New Mexico backwater, Stewart’s natural magnetism is somewhat muted behind a whey powder pallor, an air of defeated weariness and hair that looks as if it’s been deep-fried rather than washed.
Rather, it’s the unstudied, naturalistic quality of her performances, which are seeded with little glitchy details and gestures – the way she rakes her fingers through her fringe; the moment when she nervously wipes her nose on the sleeve of her T-shirt.

At a comedy show as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest on Friday, Jon Stewart went deep on Joe Biden, antisemitism and the idea of “go woke and go broke.”
Stewart headlined at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles for his “Jon Stewart and Friends” show, which saw him bring out Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman and Mike Birbiglia as his special guests.
Starting things off with the upcoming presidential election, Stewart questioned, “Why are we allowing this? And now we’re going to have a president that’s [one of] the two oldest people that have ever run for the office of the presidency,” with Biden and Donald Trump breaking the record that they themselves set four years ago.
“I know liberals say, ‘Don’t say Joe Biden is old’ — don’t say what people see with their own eyes! You can say it, he can’t hear us,” he joked.

Hasan Minhaj turned a career downturn into a comic bit last night a the Netflix Is a Joke festival in Los Angeles, saying that his lost opportunity to host The Daily Show actually saved the long-running institution.
“We’ve all failed in our lives,” Minhaj said, “but have you ever failed so bad, you bring back Jon Stewart?” I saved a dying institution. You’re welcome.”
The reference came during a joking exchange between Minhaj, who was serving as emcee of a festival showcase, and current Daily Show correspondent Ronny Chieng, who had just taken the stage.
“I’m surprised that Hasan’s able to do this show,” Chieng cracked, according to Deadline’s sister publication Variety. “I guess canceling is not what it used to be.”

If there’s one thing you can say about Kristen Stewart, it’s that she refuses to be pigeon-holed. From a kid hiding from home-invaders in Panic Room, to the centre of a supernatural love-triangle in the Twilight saga, to thoughtful indie dramas like Personal Shopper or channelling the people’s princess in Spencer, Stewart has ran the gamut throughout her career, playing in all kinds of genres and with all kinds of characters.
With Love Lies Bleeding, though, the pulpy new revenge thriller from Saint Maud director Rose Glass, we’re seeing yet another whole new side to her. She is gym manager Lou, an androgynous lesbian stuck in a small town, trying and failing to cut ties with her criminal father – that is, until bodybuilder Jackie [Katy O’Brian] arrives, and shakes up her entire world. Here, Stewart tells Empire about what makes Lou so different to herself,...

It seems that the vampire genre is coming back in style! A once popular subgenre of horror and fantasy movies, the vampire genre became less popular after 2010 and not many filmmakers opted to make such movies anymore. But, it seems that we’re going to see a resurgence of vampire films in the near future. We have already reported on the upcoming vampire flick by Ryan Coogler, we’ve had several such movies recently, and there is another one coming up in 2025. Namely, Italian-Canadian filmmaker Panos Cosmatos is working on an original vampire thriller titled Flesh of the Gods, and it has been confirmed that the film will star Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac!
Panos Cosmatos is best known as the director of the action-horror Mandy (2018), which starred Elijah Wood. The filmmaker is now back after a 7-year break, as his Flesh of the Gods is scheduled to be released...

Hasan Minhaj is ready to laugh about it all.
At the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival on Thursday, Minhaj hosted a showcase highlighting various comedians. At the end of the lineup was Ronny Chieng, who joked, “I’m surprised that Hasan’s able to do this show. I guess ‘cancelling’ is not what it used to be.”
He was referring to a controversy sparked by a September story in the New Yorker that aimed to fact-check Minhaj’s stand-up comedy. The month before, Variety had exclusively reported that he was the frontrunner to replace Trevor Noah as host of “The Daily Show,” but he lost the job after the scandal arose. Instead, famed host Jon Stewart returned for Monday night episodes, while other correspondents anchor for the rest of the week.
On Thursday, Minhaj pretended to heckle Chieng from the crowd, calling out, “You planted that story about me!
