Meta is premiering a VR project that could make this October the spookiest season yet. The tech giant’s Meta Quest 2 devices will host Scream Park, an immersive series produced by the innovative online video outfit BlackBoxTV.
The eight-episode series stars Grace Van Dien, who recently had a breakout role as the cheerleader Chrissy on the fourth season of the Netflix hit Stranger Things. In Scream Park, Van Dien won’t have to contend with Vecna, but her character Kelly Q will face her own carnival of horrors. She will be trapped after hours in a terrifying theme park and will struggle to survive until morning. Other cast members include Zach Villa, Monique Coleman, and creator Steve Zaragoza.

Showrunners: The Tin Can Brothers Starring: Steve Zaragoza, Mary Kate Wiles, Sean Astin Usually when a multimedia series debuts with a companion podcast, it’s a little overly ambitious and the ideas don’t necessarily gel. SourceFed is back...sort of. Four the news/commentary/comedy channel's original hosts -- Elliott Morgan, Joe Bereta, Lee Newton, and Steve Zaragoza -- have reunited to launch a new venture called The Valleyfolk, which looks as if it will be a spiritual successor to SourceFed.
Beginning in 2012, Morgan, Bereta, Newton, and Zaragoza (along with Meg Turney and Trisha Hershberger) began hosting cheeky, bite-sized videos, which often broke down strange or outlandish stories from the news. Thanks in part to their shared charisma and chemistry, SourceFed flourished and became one of YouTube's best channels. Such success proved fleeting. Morgan and Bereta left the channel in 2014 and Newton said goodbye in 2015, among other departures. The resulting high rate of turnover contributed to SourceFed's cancelation in March 2017.
Less than a year after that door closed, another has opened. Morgan, Bereta, Newton, and Zaragoza are starting anew in hopes of providing fans...

Darren Aronofsky's latest film mother! has already made a splash with its trailers, and those hungry for more footage are in luck as a Redditor discovered a secret when they fooled with the film's latest digital poster, which you can see above.
If you take the new poster into photoshop, and show only the Blue alpha channel, you can see the hidden URL... https://t.co/gOSCXEBe7K pic.twitter.com/yqlCZxiyLJ
— Steve Zaragoza (@stevezaragoza) August 27, 2017
That hidden URL (which you can view right here) reveals a secret scene when you click the kaleidoscope image. The scene in question is the full scene in which the woman asks Jennifer Lawrence's character whether or not she wants children. I won't spoil it for anyone who doesn't want to be spoiled, but it's definitely interesting to see the scene in full context as it plays out differently than the trailer might indicate.

Some well-known SourceFed team members have branched out from the news network to create their own channel. Bree Essrig, Matt Lieberman, and Steve Zaragoza launched the sketch comedy YouTube channel Nuclear Family on January 6, 2015.
Created in conjunction with Discovery Digital Networks, Nuclear Family will host parodies, humor segments, and musical comedy about recent pop culture, political, and cultural news. Segments will also include special guests like Allison Raskin and Gaby Dunn of the Just Between Us web series. All Nuclear Family content will live exclusively on YouTube for three days before moving to other platforms. The first sketch on Nuclear Family, a spoof video dubbed “People Try Heroin for the First Time,” features Essrig, Lieberman, Jeremy Azevedo, and Jessica Amal as two couples trying out the schedule 1 drug (but not for real).
"I feel like Nuclear Family will be something you’ve never really seen before on YouTube,” said Zaragoza in a release.

Buzzr’s game show content will no longer be restricted to YouTube. During the week of September 7, 2015, the digital television network will air several failed game show pilots for a programming block dubbed “Lost & Found.”
Owned by FremantleMedia North America, the Buzzr brand was originally launched as a YouTube channel in 2014, produced through Fremantle’s Tiny Riot! digital studios. That channel released online versions of classic game shows like Family Feud, Celebrity Name Game, and Password. Popular YouTube stars, like Steve Zaragoza and Elliott Morgan (who just launched a new show with SourceFed) served as hosts for various iterations of Buzzr’s owned game shows.
Fremantle then launched the Buzzr TV digital multicast TV network in June 2015 (and it currently serves 23 or so U.S. television markets). For this network’s 60-day “Lost & Found” programming, Buzzr will show pilots from game show formats which never made it past the first episode,...

Collective Digital Studio has a new series that will appeal to YouTube's foodie crowd. The multi-channel network debuted the food game show series Win it for the Bar on the newly-launched Beer ‘N Stuff channel on June 29, 2015.
In Win it for the Bar, random bar and pub customers must correctly answer a set of food-inspired questions for a chance to win the entire establishment a round of free eats. The show host poses as the bartender, and then asks one bar patron, who unknowingly sat down in the hot seat, the culinary trivia questions. If the patron answers all questions correctly, everyone wins food; if a question is missed, the patron must buy someone a beer.

Earlier this year, we covered fitness powerhouse Beachbody's "YouTube test group," where a set of top online video creators - including Jack Douglass, Bart Baker, Olga Kay, and Shira Lazar - collectively dropped over 100 pounds and 85 inches by way of Tony Horton's P90 program. The before and after photos seemed too good to be true—commenters cried 'air brush' and 'spray tan.' So when we caught wind of a new class of YouTubers for Beachbody's 21 Day Fix Extreme program with trainer Autumn Calabrese, we had to get an inside look at the process to make sure it was legit.
The new group underwent back-to-back twenty-one day programs and featured Jennifer Veal, SourceFed stars Lee Newton and Steve Zaragoza, Timothy DeLaGhetto, Rick Carter, Shane Dawson, and yours truly. Now the last time I covered a story as an embedded journalist, I did a ridealong with the Good Cops, and things went horribly wrong.

Marriott Content Studio has a new project to add to its already-long list of and upcoming programming. The hotel chain’s digital studio teamed up with What’s Trending to produce an original travel series starring Jeana from PrankvsPrank, Steve Zaragoza of SourceFed, Louis Cole from FunForLouis, Tom Cassell of The Syndicate Project, and Meghan Camarena (aka Strawburry17).
The unofficially-named series functions as a five-piece video campaign to introduce millennial travelers to the ease of Marriott’s new mobile check-in feature. In the videos, the YouTube stars have the chance to visit a city from around the globe (at least one where Marriott has a hotel establishment), and partake in one experience to strike off their individual bucket lists.
Viewers follow Jeana to New York as she cooks dishes alongside world-renowned chef Einat Admony, watch Zaragoza tour the Franconian sausage factory in London, and see Cole learn martial arts in Shanghai.

The three big winners were an action web series (Video Game High School), a vlogger (Tyler Oakley), and a Spanish-language comedy channel (Enchufe.TV), but the night was full of stars and memorable moments. Here are a few choice clips from the show, with some quotes from the people who defined them. "Speaking of women, we are super excited to be considered them, because women have had some monumentous achievements in the digital space this year." - Grace Helbig Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart shined as the first women to ever host the Streamy Awards. They highlighted a big year for female creators; this year's Streamy Award winners included Jenna Marbles, Ingrid Nilsen, and Michelle Phan. Hart didn't limit herself to hosting duties, either; she also took home an award for My Drunk Kitchen for the second year in a row.

Pemberley Digital, the studio behind the Emmy-winning webseries The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, debuted its latest show on Youtube last week. The series is an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein that reinterprets the story with Victoria Frankenstein as a brilliant young medical student on the verge of obtaining her MD. Highly driven and slightly eccentric, she’s focused on obtaining a successful career in the male-dominated field of medical research. Her malleable colleague Iggy DeLacey (based on Igor from the novel) assists her. Her mentor Dr. Waldman and old friends Eli and Rory make occasional appearances as well.
Pemberley Digital is one of a handful of digital studios that has the funding and resources to create lengthy, well-produced webseries – yet, with each series it produces post-Lizzie Bennet Diaries, it continues to disappoint. I previously reviewed Emma Approved, which, while beautifully cast, was determinedly mediocre over the course of its 72-episode run.

PBS Digital Studios is eyeing minority actors for its upcoming scripted series. Pemberley Digital's Frankenstein, M.D., which will bring Mary Shelley's most famous work to YouTube, will debut on August 19th through PBS Digital Studios. Frankenstein, M.D. will bring Frankenstein to the modern age by reimagining its titular doctor as a Ph.D. student named Victoria. Dr. Frankenstein's gender seems to be a calculated choice, since the majority of Pemberley Digital's fans are women. A press release regarding the series claims Victoria is "determined to prove herself in the male-dominated fields of science and medicine." Actress Anna Lore will portray Victoria, and she will be joined in the cast by SourceFed host Steve Zaragoza, who will play Igor analoge Iggy DeLacey. It's Ok To Be Smart host Joe Hanson is involved in the series as...

If you were hoping to shoot some awesome videos at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, you're out of luck. A journalist from Russian news agency Ria Novosti informed his fellow sports reporters that anyone caught shooting video at the games will be stripped of his or her accreditation. Hating on Russia's Winter Olympics hosting duties has been in vogue thanks to the Russian government's anti-gay policies, but this decision seems to stem from the policy of International Olympic Committee. Ioc spokesman Mark Adams noted that video is prohibited due to broadcast rights restrictions, and Ria journalist Vasily Konov expressed a similar sentiment during a seminar. Konov noted that using phones to capture real time footage "will be considered a serious violation and will result in cancellation of accreditation." The news has already reached SourceFed, where Ross Everett and Steve Zaragoza mocked it as part of a game show called 'What's Russia Done Now?...

Philip Defranco's Defranco DoesArizona event was billed as a Q&A session where hundreds of his fans could bombard him and his SourceFed pals with all the questions on their minds. In reality, Defranco used the Tempe Center For the Arts Theater as the venue for a much more important conversation. Towards the end of the event, Defranco used a plant in the audience to help him propose to his girlfriend, Lindsay Doty. Doty, who goes by LinzLoves on YouTube, initially joined Defranco and SourceFed hosts Steve Zaragoza and Meg Turney on stage. Eventually, a woman in the crowd asked her a particularly personal question: "Are you going to get married?" As Doty gave an evasive answer, Defranco reached over, pulled out a ring box, and got down on one knee. The crowd went crazy, Doty said yes, and her parents rushed onto the stage to celebrate with her. The whole shebang...

Philip Defranco is hitting the road. The vlogger, journalist, and Wired's Sexiest Geek 2008 will host Defranco Does Arizona, a two hour Q&A special live from the Tempe Center for the Arts Theater. Defranco is expecting a full house at the 600 seat theater, and attendees will surely arm themselves with loads of questions for the Phil Defranco Show host. Afterwards, there will be a meet-and-greet, and Defranco plans to hang around "til we see everyone that stays or they kick us out." The 'we' in that quote refers to Defranco, SourceFed hosts Meg Turney and Steve Zaragoza, and two other as-of-yet unannounced special guests. Defranco provided some bonus info about the event at the beginning of a recent Pds episode. Last year, Defranco hosted Defranco Does Dublin, a similar event broadcast across the pond in Ireland. The full video from that event has scored more than 440,000 views on YouTube. Defranco Does Arizona,...

SourceFed is getting geeky. One of the most successful channels to come out of YouTube’s $100 Million Originals Initiative just announced it’s launching a spinoff channel targeted towards the not-so-niche anymore nerd demographic. SourceFed Nerd is slated to premiere May 20 and feature the familiar Streamy Award-winning faces of SourceFed (including Elliott Morgan, Joe Bereta, Lee Newton, Meg Turney, Steve Zaragoza, and Trisha Hershberger, and cameos by SourceFed creator and citizen number zero of the Phil DeFranco Nation, Phil DeFranco) talking about things tech, comic book, anime, movies, apps, collectibles, toys, board games, R2D2 dresses, and more. "SourceFed Nerd is the continuation of what we have done the past few years," explains DeFranco. "Make cool shit we love for people who also love it, but this time we're breaking outside of our white wall room of news." Here's a peek: If the success of its predecessor is any indication,...
