It’s hard to explain now, thirty years on, just what a huge event The Death of Superman was. It grew far beyond anything DC Comics could have imagined. It all started with that same old thing in comics, falling sales on the Superman books. There was nothing wrong with the stories or creative teams, they were all very good. I should know because I have practically every issue after all. The problem was with culture. Punisher was big, Ghost Rider was big, Wolverine was big, Batman was getting darker and darker. Superman was just out of step with tastes. So, to get a bit of publicity, then Editor Mike Carlin and his creative teams decided to kill Superman (temporarily of course).
The story, though, caught the attention of the national, then international press,...

With an enormous swath of the world involved in varying degrees of social distancing, many of us suddenly find ourselves with a lot of time on our hands. Never fear! There are more options for streaming comics than ever before, and that means we have access to more of comics history, more hidden gems and epochal runs than ever before. But the variety of options to read can be daunting. That’s why we’ve put together a recommendation list of some of our favorite comics binge reads to help you through quarantine.
DC Universe rolled out in 2017 as the first full-service entertainment streaming platform – old shows, old movies, new shows, new movies, and a huge library of comics. And while a lot of the excitement over the platform has been about that original or new shows (justifiably! Harley Quinn and Doom Patrol are amazing!), it also gave us access...

If you’ve seen the first season of DC Universe’s Titans, then you know that Superboy and his dog Krypto were set up for Season 2. This got some fans excited for what is to come.
Now we know who will be taking on the role of Conner Kent a.k.a. Superboy. They’ve cast actor Joshua Orpin in the role. I’m not familiar with the actor, and he hasn’t really done much, but it looks like he will fit the role. In a post-credits scene of the series Conner escapes from Project Cadmus with Krypto.
According to the official character description Superboy "is the angsty teenager of steel searching for purpose and the truth about his past. While looking for answers, he crashes into the world of the Titans, where he finds an unlikely home and surrogate family as well as revelations that carry more complications than he ever bargained for.

The Titans cast just added some major Kryptonian muscle: Joshua Orpin has joined the ensemble for the series regular role of Conner Kent, aka Superboy, a key character in the upcoming second season of the superhero series on the DC Universe subscription streaming service.
Orpin, a Melbourne native and graduate of the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, will be seen in the upcoming Foxtel drama series Upright and his most recent appearance was in The Blake Mysteries: Ghost Stories for the Seven Network in his native Australia. Orpin made his feature-film debut in The Neon Spectrum while his stage credits include A Midsummer Nights Dream for the Australian Shakespeare Company, The Matchmaker, The Tempest and The Diary of Anne Frank.
The name Superboy has a long but somewhat twisty history in the pages of DC Comics and on the small screen as well. The original Superboy was introduced...

DC Universe is adding Superboy for the second season of “Titans” and cast Australian actor Joshua Orpin in the role as a series regular.
The “Titans” version of Superboy is described as the angsty Teenager of Steel searching for purpose and the truth about his past. While looking for answers, he crashes into the world of the Titans and finds an unlikely home and surrogate family as well as revelations that carry more complications than he ever bargained for.
But before you ask, this character is not young Clark Kent/Kal-El.
Orpin will be playing Conner Kent, the second DC Comics character called Superboy. Created by Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett as part of DC’s 1992-1993 “The Death of Superman” crossover event, Conner is a clone intended to fill the void left by the apparent death of the Man of Steel. Believing himself to be a clone of Superman himself,...

This exclusive preview of Nightwing/Magilla Gorilla is surprising in every way.
With Halloween fast approaching, we're due for another round of the shockingly good DC/Hanna Barbera crossovers, and DC sent us an exclusive preview of Nightwing/Magilla Gorilla from Heath Corson (from the also-shockingly good Bizarro) and Tom Grummett (Superboy).
We've already had a number of insanely good comics from DC's Hanna Barbera line - both individual series like Snagglepuss and The Flintstones, and from crossovers like Black Lightning/Hong Kong Phooey. And while it's astonishing that any of these premises came out good at all, it's even more incredible that they continue to be good.
Magilla Gorilla was a flimsy 60s premise about a gorilla who Mr. Peebles can't sell. That's...about it. It was the same joke over and over again, with no actual gags outside of your typical thin early-tv sitcom repetitions and fourth wall breaking.

Marvel Comics' "Cable" #151, showcasing the character played by Josh Brolin in the upcoming feature "Deadpool 2", is written by Ed Brisson and illustrated by Jon Malin, with covers by Malin and Tom Grummett:
"...in 'The Never Mutant' Part 2, someone is killing off members of an ancient group of mutants called the 'Externals'.
"But the 'Cable’crew of 'New Mutants' are jumping through time to find the killer once and for all. And their investigation leads straight to the vampiric mistress 'Selene'..."
"Deadpool 2", directed by David Leitch, stars actor Ryan Reynolds, reprising his role as 'The Merc With A Mouth', based on the Marvel Comics' character.
Other Marvel Comics characters confirmed to appear in the sequel include 'Neena Thurman'/Domino', 'Colossus', 'Dopiner' and 'Negasonic Teenage Warhead'.
"...the first "Deadpool" feature follows former 'Special Forces' operative turned mercenary, cheap prankster...
"'Wade Wilson', who after being subjected to a...

In the past few years, DC Comics have partnered with General Mills to offer exclusive comics packaged inside some of the most popular cereal boxes on the market. Well, the time has once again come for us to hunt down more books featuring the Justice League at our local grocer.
Before we get to the limited edition comics themselves, let’s discuss what separates this year’s offerings from those previous: The fact that known creators are putting heroic spins on cereal mascots. Don’t expect drastic overhauls as people still need to recognize the fictitious spokesmen, but I’d still say they’re certainly memorable.
Here’s what you can expect to find greeting you as you stroll down the breakfast aisle: Honey Nut Cheerios’ BuzzBee as Batman, drawn by Dave Johnson; Multi Grain Cheerios featuring Wonder Woman,...

A couple of weeks ago some artwork surfaced teasing a DC Comics special event crossover series involving the Looney Tunes. Today we have some actual story details about the comics that will be coming out, and they sound pretty damn entertaining. The one that I'm most looking forward to reading involves Elmer Fudd stalking Batman.
The Looney Tunes characters will cross paths with DC characters that will include Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Lobo, Jonah Hex, and the Legion of Super-Heroes.
Below you'll find the cover art and details for each one:
