The drama never stops in Serenity. From cliffhanger car crashes to surprise paternity reveals, Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias has spent three seasons delivering compulsively binge-able episodes of soapy, heartwarming TV. But could Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue’s story have come to a close? The streamer has yet to reveal if Sweet Magnolias will return for season 4. But the season 3 finale definitely felt like it could be a series finale.

‘Sweet Magnolias’ Season 3 doesn’t end on a cliffhanger
The first two seasons of Sweet Magnolias didn’t shy away from major cliffhangers. Season 1 cut to black just after Maddie’s (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) son Kyle’s (Logan Allen) prom night car crash. We had to wait until season 2 to find out who was in the car with Kyle and whether they survived the accident. Season 2 ended with Cal (Justin Bruening) getting arrested following a brawl at...

Netflix is on a bit of a true crime heater at the moment. Thanks to the Ryan Murphy double feature of Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The Watcher, Netflix was the go-to place for true crime nerds last month. But what does the streamer have on deck to keep the good times rolling in November 2022? Quite a lot as it turns out actually.
Netflix’s true crime division will machine to churn out content this November It starts early with the release of Killer Sally on Nov. 2 and goes all the way through to Take Your Pills: Xanax on Nov. 30. As that last example makes clear, true crime doesn’t always have to be about murder (though it so often is). In fact, this months’ Netflix true crime offerings are fairly diverse in subject matter. Pepsi, Where’s My Jet? on Nov. 17 is all about a corporate promotional giveaway gone wrong,...

Laura Poitras’s documentary All the Beauty and the Bloodshed appears to be on more solid ground as a possible Oscar frontrunner, after the release of Doc NYC’s influential shortlist of the year’s top nonfiction films.
Atbatb made the Doc NYC cut of 15 feature films Tuesday, a day after it missed out on a nomination as Best Documentary Feature for the Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards (Poitras did earn a Best Director nomination and her film was nominated as Best Political Documentary by the critics group).
All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, about artist Nan Goldin and her indefatigable campaign against the Sackler family of Oxycontin ignominy, last month became only the second documentary to win the top prize in Venice. Joining the film on the Doc NYC shortlist is Fire of Love, the National Geographic documentary that has earned more than 1.5 million in worldwide release. It tells the...
