The rules of the streets are clear: If a brawl ensues, you fight too. It doesn’t matter who threw the first punch or instigated the fracas. A blow at your friend is an attack on the group.
It’s odd, then, that Miguel (Tyler Dean Flores), the protagonist of Miguel Wants to Fight, a spry and entertaining film directed by Oz Rodriguez, has never even thrown a punch. His friends aren’t habitual fighters, but even they’ve found themselves in the middle of a melee or two. Plus, Miguel’s dad (Raúl Castillo) runs a boxing studio and the kid’s obsessed with Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.
So, what gives? Is it inexperience? (Yes). Lack of confidence? (That too). Fear? (Bingo).

“People jump in, you jump in. That’s the rule.” So says one of high schooler Miguel’s punch-happy pals at the start of Hulu’s bawdy comedy flick Miguel Wants to Fight (premiering August 16). But Miguel has never jumped in. That realization is a shock to his three best friends—ex-boxer David (Christian Vunipola), scrappy Cass (Imani Lewis), and sharp-tongued Srini (Suraj Partha)—who swear they’ve seen the guy throw at least one punch. Later, when Miguel gets the upsetting news that he’s moving hours away from Syracuse with his family, he decides to try to get into his first fight instead of telling his friends. Conveniently, he lives in a neighborhood where everyone, and we mean everyone, is always getting into a scrap. “Miguel is surrounded by fighting. That’s something we wanted to enforce, even in the murals that he walks by,” director Oz Rodriguez says.

Most people spend their entire lives avoiding physical altercations, but in Miguel’s case, all he can think about is giving someone the gift of chin music in the Hulu Original film Miguel Wants to Fight. Harrison Ford injured in plane accident (image: Harrison Ford as Colonel Graff in 'Ender's Game') Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark actor Harrison Ford was supposed to be in critical condition – later reports have upgraded that to "fair" or "stable" condition – following an accident with a small airplane on Los Angeles' Westside. Earlier this afternoon (March 5, 2015), a vintage, one-engine two-seater crash landed at the Penmar Golf Course, located in the Los Angeles suburb of Venice, not far from the Pacific Ocean and just west of Santa Monica Airport. Its pilot, 72-year-old Harrison Ford, was found "seriously" injured. He was alone on the plane. There were no injuries on the ground. As explained in the Los Angeles Times, "fire officials would not identify the victim of the crash but said he was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived." Ford was later transported to an unidentified hospital. Eleven...

Joel Courtney from Super 8 and Contest star Katherine McNamara are KidsPickFlicks.com's Movie Star Movie Critics. Here is their take on Ender's Game.
"Ender's Game is an amazing movie. The plot was surprisingly similar to that of the book, and the CGI effects were incredible. Every element of this film was impeccable. The special effects in the war room and the cadet training arena are stunning. The score is perfectly suited to the pace of the movie. The performances of the star-studded cast certainly do not disappoint either. The adults Harrison Ford, Viola Davis, and Ben Kingsley all gave incredible performances Of course, we expected nothing less from such legends of the craft. But it was the younger actors including Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Moises Arias, Aramis Knight, and Suraj Partha who stole the show. They truly show the power of a strong youth ensemble cast in film.

‘Ender’s Game’ movie to go the way of ‘John Carter,’ ‘The Golden Compass’? (Photo: Ben Kingsley and Asa Butterfield in ‘Ender’s Game’) Directed by Gavin Hood and starring Asa Butterfield and Harrison Ford, Ender’s Game is going the way of Andrew Stanton’s John Carter and Chris Weitz’s The Golden Compass at the domestic box office. After opening with a disappointing $27.01 million last weekend (including Thursday evening shows), the $110 million-budgeted was down a whopping 62% this past weekend, November 8-10, 2013, collecting a paltry $10.25 million from 3,407 theaters (no reduction in number of venues) according to box office actuals found at Box Office Mojo. One can blame Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World, but the action fantasy starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston wasn’t the sole culprit. After all, Ender’s Game was already trailing both Last Vegas and Bad Grandpa last Thursday. After two weekends,...

‘Ender’s Game’ movie review: Sci-fier displays ‘steel-grey self-seriousness,’ but fails to explore ‘disturbing brutality’ at its core (photo: Asa Butterfield and Abigail Breslin in ‘Ender’s Game’) Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi novel Ender’s Game was published in 1985, and in the 28 years that elapsed before the book became a film, the idea of children trained to fight by orders of an unfeeling government has been repeatedly co-opted, most notably by a certain tale of a beautiful young archer named Katniss. Indeed, comparisons between Ender’s Game and The Hunger Games are inevitable, but the key similarity between the two is that neither film really explores or, in the case of The Hunger Games, even acknowledges the disturbing brutality that lies at the core of their intricately-constructed worlds. To its credit, Ender’s Game, under the clean, straightforward direction of Gavin Hood (one of the X-Men movies, it’s...

He wowed us in Martin Scorsese.s .Hugo,. and now, Asa Butterfield wants to prove he can also star in a thought-provoking sci-fi blockbuster. In .Ender.s Game,. Asa is the one! The one to save us from the formic aka buggers, the giant insect-like aliens terrorizing our planet. In order for us to buy into the film.s premise that a 12-year-old kid can save the world, Asa must be equally believable. And trust me, he was! In this interview, we talked about:

"We Won, He Lost!" Harrison Ford.s Message in Response to .Ender.s Game.s. Author.s Anti-Gay Remarks
I was nervous bringing this up to Harrison Ford who plays Colonel Graff in the upcoming film, .Ender.s Game. opening Friday, Nov. 1st. I enjoyed the movie.s many great themes including compassion and peace. That.s why it behooves everyone that the book.s author, Orson Scott Card, made his anti-gay marriage comments publicly. So when I interviewed Ford, I couldn.t help but bring up the topic. To which the actor replied, without batting an eyelash, .we won, he lost!. Whoa! I.m now Harrison Ford.s biggest fan! Take a look at the interview below:

Already saddled with the “Star Wars meets Harry Potter” moniker which may get initial bums on seats but will surely risk alienating those who did encounter it, Ender’s Game instead emerges as a morally complex and thematically rich film which certainly gets itself lost in translation from its original source in spots but emerges as one of the oddest and boldest kids films of recent years, recalling the likes of Gil Kenan’s underseen and underrated City of Ember more than the aforementioned franchises used in the film’s marketing.
Based on an immensely popular book by now infamous not very nice guy Orson Scott Card, Gavin Hood’s adaptation gives us plenty of whizz and bang but also quite a lot to consider.

As expected, a first look at Sir Ben Kingsley as the heroic and rather gnarly-looking Mazer Rackham in "Ender's Game" has been revealed at Entertainment Weekly. As those who'd screened the trailer at CinemaCon warned, he's got quite a face tattoo indeed! Kingsley spoke to EW about his character, a general and war hero who saved planet Earth from the Formic bugger ships long before Ender Wiggin was even a twinkle in his father's eye.
