Steven Calvert is a Northern Irish actor, writer and filmmaker.
He trained at the Guildford School of Acting.
In 2018, Calvert starred in the music video 'Britney' by Col3trane. Produced by Pulse Films and directed by award-winning filmmaker Oscar Hudson, it was nominated for a UK VMA Award.
That same year, he was cast as Mickey Murphy in the stage production of 'Lovers Anonymous' premiering at the Camden Fringe Festival in London. The play went on to receive numerous 4 and 5 star reviews. LondonTheatre1 said of the play, "I would've liked to have spent more time with some of the characters, in particular, Mickey, whose story I wanted to know a lot more about. His moment was possibly the most interesting part of the play ... I think there might be a whole play to be written about that character."
In 2019, Calvert began production on his first self-produced short film, 'Chasing'. He wrote, co-directed and starred in it. It was selected for 12 film festivals, winning 4 awards. Calvert was also nominated for Actor of the Month and Screenwriter of the Month at The Monthly Film Festival (UK).
In 2021, Calvert made his feature film debut as Evil Cupid in Netflix's 'The School for Good and Evil' directed by Paul Feig.
In 2022, Calvert was part of the original cast of 'The White Handkerchief', a musical play depicting the events of Bloody Sunday. Calvert played the role of the blood thirsty Lance Corporal and his performance was described by Clive Davis (The Times) as, "genuinely menacing." Later that year, he was cast in season 2 of 'Bloodlands' (BBC/Hat Trick Productions) and found footage horror feature 'The Glenarma Tapes' (Village Films).
Calvert's recent projects include guest roles on the new season of 'Hope Street' (BBC/Long Story TV) and 'Borderline' (Lionsgate/ShinAwiL, airing 2024).
As of February 2024, Calvert's upcoming projects include 'Table for Two' (short film), a dark psychological drama, and two of his own new short films which are in development.
