Honoring the 40 most powerful women in unscripted entertainment, the Bravo elite mingled with real estate flippers, dancers, judges, singers, survivors, amazing racers and those just looking for love.

Snacking on caviar potato puffs and Spago’s salmon pizza, the honorees gathered for a cocktail party before the dinner. An elated Heidi D’Amelio of “The D’Amelios” snapped a selfie with “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice, who flew in for the celebration with husband Luis Ruelas. Our Flag Means Death‘s whirlwind eight-episode second season came to a close on Thursday, with one wedding… and a funeral.
When last we tuned into Max’s pirate comedy, things were quite explosive, as Prince Ricky Banes’ fiendish plot to bomb Zheng Yi Sao’s fleet left everyone utterly gobsmacked. In the wake of that surprise attack, the Brits made camp at Spanish Jackie’s watering hole, while most of the pirate folk (a wounded Auntie included) were thrown into a jail cell.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for both seasons one and two of Our Flag Means Death
We meet a whole crew of new pirate faces in season two of Our Flag Means Death, and you may have heard of a few of them. While we already know that Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and Blackbeard (Taika Waititi) were based on real historical pirates, you might be surprised to learn just true to life many of the characters in season two are, from the feared pirate queen Zheng Yi Sao to the infamously brutal Ned Low.
Let’s take a look at the true stories which – as ever – are even stranger than the fiction of our favourite pirate comedy:
Zheng Yi Sao Really Did Bend China To Her Will
We first met her as Susan, the soup shack lady, in episode one, before quickly learning Susan’s real identity is Zheng Yi Sao,...

Yo ho ho! The pirate comedy "Our Flag Means Death" is back for a second season, and we couldn't be more excited to catch up with Stede, Ed, and the rest of our favorite criminal misfits. The quirky show actually has more in common with real history than you might expect, with several characters loosely inspired (emphasis on the "loosely") by real-life pirates and miscreants. Sure, the real Stede and Ed probably didn't have a romance that was both devastating and adorable - but there's at least a kernel of truth to their portrayals on the show.
Is Stede Bonnet Based on a Real Person?
Yes! While Stede Bonnet (played by Rhys Darby) might not be a name most people know, he was, in fact, a real person. Born in 1688, he was a young landowner in Barbados who inherited his family's holdings at the age of six after his father died.

A pirate's life isn't all that it's cut out to be. On Sept. 14, HBO released the trailer for "Our Flag Means Death" season two, which finds our lovable band of chaotic pirates facing not just the perils of danger but also of love. When the Max series, starring Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi as pirates Stede Bonnet and Edward Teach (aka Blackbeard), premiered in 2022, it roped fans in as a comedy stacked with famously funny actors - but it's the budding romance between the two pirate leads that made them stay. In season two, Stede is trying to win back Ed, while Ed is intent on killing him.
The series was originally renewed back in June 2022. David Jenkins, the show's creator, said in a statement at the time, "We felt the show was special while we were making it, but fans' open-armed embrace of the inhabitants of the Revenge makes...

Ready the cannons! Not only does season 2 of "Our Flag Means Death" actually exist, but a brand new trailer now exists to prove it to all the non-believers! Honestly, folks should have already been back on deck, as Max delivered a little teaser back in August as a morsel of a treat to hold fans over until the show's triumphant return. In fact, it almost felt as if "Ofmd" was going to be yet another casualty of David Zaslav's kink for obliterating the Warner Bros. Discovery (and Max streaming service) library to earn tax write-downs, but the fandom rallied and made sure to justify the cost of the reported 50 different sets necessary for season 2 to play out. All too often, pirate shows and movies take the swashbuckling life a little too seriously, but "Our Flag Means Death" keeps things action-packed while also remembering that most pirates were a bunch...

I smell love on the salty sea air alongside gunpowder, rum, and wedding cake icing! The Our Flag Means Death Season 2 teaser trailer sets sail this afternoon, with members of The Revenge charting a course for adventure on the high seas! Many of your favorite characters return from the original season with several new faces ready to smile a black-toothed grin for the cameras.
The new season of Our Flag Means Death begins with gentleman pirate Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and softhearted bad boy Blackbeard (Taika Waititi) ruefully separated after finally realizing their love for each other at the end of season one. It’s “going to be unexpected and surprising, but also very pleasurable and satisfying for those who like the show,” says executive producer Garrett Basch. It “doesn’t follow the expected route,” teases Con O’Neill, who plays Blackbeard’s enthusiastic enforcer, Izzy.

On Outlander Season 7 Episode 1, Claire's resourcefulness and persuasive abilities are tested as she navigates her imprisonment and tries to secure her safety.
As the series progresses well beyond the season premiere and with much vital ground to cover, Claire's predicament is addressed with expediency rare for shows these days who like to milk the drama for as long as they can.
That's never been a problem for Outlander, and there is always another dramatic moment pounding on Claire and Jamie Fraser's door.
We never expected Claire to face the gallows noose again, but that didn't make Jamie's dream about it any less stressful.
They've been down this road too many times for the possibilities not to eat away at his brain, turning his sweet slumber into something far more malevolent.
Claire was safely ensconced in prison, and her modern sensibilities once again set her on a course for success.

Everyone loves an Egot. The prestigious title goes to the select few who win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony across their careers — proving them to be at the top of their game in four entertainment fields. So far, only 18 people have achieved the feat.
Among those who are halfway there is Taika Waititi. He won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2020 for “Jojo Rabbit,” ticking off the film segment of the Egot. He then took home a Grammy for the same film in 2021 when he won Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media. That was number two.
However, he has yet to win an Emmy or a Tony. He has never worked on Broadway, but he has reaped three Emmy bids to date. In 2020, he was nominated for Character Voice-Over Performance for playing Ig-11 in “The Mandalorian” (he lost to Maya Rudolph for “Big Mouth”) and...

Staring at my computer screen with the thousand-yard stare of someone who has seen stuff, I find myself unsure how to characterize 2022. The last year has been, frankly, not that different from the year before; despite the promise of vaccines, a new president in White House, and my new job (thank you /Film), 2022 turned out to be a lot less "post"-pandemic than many of us hoped.
Oh, and apparently it'll take me 20 years of saving to buy a house.
Yet, the optimist in me can't help but see signs of better things to come. The definitely-not-a-ponzi-scheme Nft boom of 2021 crashed and burned, leaving my Twitter timeline significantly more tolerable — at least until Daddy Elon took over. Canada and Denmark resolved the 50-year Whisky War. And Disney, heading into its 100 year anniversary as a studio, has Bob Iger back behind the wheel.

When Warner Brothers Discovery started eviscerating so much wonderful programming on HBO Max, there was a great deal of worry that "Our Flag Means Death" would likely be on the chopping block. But just like the Gentleman Pirate, in spite of every danger thrown its way, the series lives on to sail another day with a second season currently in development.
"Our Flag Means Death" is a hilarious showcase for comedian Rhys Darby, who brings a delightful amount of heart, flair, and, of course, humor to the swashbuckling period comedy about Steve Bonnet, a wealthy Englishman who ultimately chooses piracy during a mid-life crisis. Along with his crew of lovable Queer misfits, the Gentleman Pirate gets into sorts of misadventures on the high seas.
The series features an all-star ensemble with Nathan Foad, Joel Fry, Gus Khan, Matthew Maher, Kristian Nairn, Con O'Neill, and Vico Ortiz, in addition to a slew of guest stars.
