Production is underway on Season 2 of the “Frasier,” with Peri Gilpin set to return in the new season.
Gilpin famously played Roz Doyle throughout the original show’s 11-season run. She then reprised the role in a guest star appearance in the first season finale of the revival. She is now set to make multiple appearance in Season 2 as a recurring guest star. In addition, James Burrows will return to the series to direct two episodes, as he did in the first season.
Gilpin is not the only original series actor to return for the revival. Bebe Neuwirth reprised the role of Lilith Sternin, whom she originally played on “Cheers” before making multiple appearances on the original “Frasier,” in the revival’s seventh episode.

The latest episode of Paramount+’s “Frasier,” entitled “Blind Date,” followed as Kelsey Grammer’s titular character competed with his son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) for the affections of a woman named June (June Diane Raphael) in a 22-page-long scene.
Director Kelly Park told TheWrap that filming the sequence was “one of the highlights” of her career.
“It really allowed me to prove to myself that I am a technical director,” she said. “Kelsey Grammer was wonderful because he collaborated with me and was with me all the way. It was really divine… they just let me play, let me create, and allowed me to delve into what Frasier used to be and bring it back home.”
But directing a multi-camera comedy in front of a live studio audience is no easy feat.

In Paramount+’s “Frasier” reboot, Kelsey Grammer’s iconic character has returned to Boston for his next chapter, as he looks to reconnect with his son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott).
The move finds the psychiatrist and former radio show host leave behind many beloved characters from the original NBC sitcom, including his brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce). Earlier this year, Pierce revealed that he would not be reprising the role, which showrunners Chris Harris (“How I Met Your Mother”) and Joe Cristalli (“Life in Pieces”) admitted was “a tough setback in the moment, but ultimately very freeing.”
“It let us build the show more organically from the ground up, focusing more on Frasier and Freddie’s relationship,” Harris told TheWrap. “The flip side of that is we don’t have several of the beloved characters that the original series had.”

Paramount+ has released two key art images for the upcoming sequel to the Emmy-winning comedy series Frasier, which debuts Oct. 12. Both posters feature the title character front and center. In fact, the sequel’s star and executive producer Kelsey Grammer, who is reprising his signature character as Frasier Crane, is the only cast member from the sequel pictured.
In one of the images, Frasier is surrounded by luggage, moving boxes and furniture as he is standing in front of the Boston skyline — a nod to the original series’ famous title card that features the Seattle skyline.
In the other, Frasier Crane, never too modest about his own intellectual abilities, has surrounded himself with the busts of several great intellectuals in different areas of art and sciences: Benjamin Franklin, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, William Shakespeare and Charles Dickens.
In both, Frasier is sporting a business casual look we have rarely seen on the original series.

The scheduling move puts the streaming series right in the middle of the traditional broadcast network fall-season rollout, and back on a night where it was part of NBC’s Must-See TV lineup for several seasons of its original run. CBS will also give the show a broadcast sample airing with two back-to-back episodes on Tuesday, Oct. 17. Frasier premiered in 1993 and ran for 11 seasons.
The new series “follows Frasier Crane in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill.”

Notably absent from the series is actor David Hyde Pierce, who played Crane’s brother Niles on the original show.

The Game is over, for a second time. Paramount+ has cancelled the revival series, so there are no plans for a third season, at least on the streaming service.
A sequel to the original 2006-15 comedy series, The Game was executive produced by original series creator Mara Brock Akil, showrunner and writer Devon Greggory, Salim Akil, and original executive producer Kelsey Grammer and Tom Russo.
The show stars legacy cast members Wendy Raquel Robinson and Hosea Chanchez, with new players Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, Adriyan Rae, Vaughn Hebron, and Analisa Velez. The series features a mix of the original cast and new players to offer a modern examination of Black culture through the prism of pro football. The characters tackle racism, sexism, classism, and more as they fight for fame, fortune, respect, and love.

The Frasier revival has added another familiar face to the cast.
Deadline reports that Peri Gilpin is joining the impressive guest cast of the Paramount+ sequel.
Gilpin played Roz during the original series.
As of this time of writing, Roz is set to return for one episode of the series.
News of the big return comes almost two months after it was revealed that Bebe Neuwirth would reprise her Lilith role from the original series.
Ever since the show was announced, there has been a great deal of excitement about which former cast members would show up.
Unfortunately for fans, Kelsey Grammer is the only confirmed returning series regular.
Grammer previously revealed that his on-screen brother David Hyde Pierce "basically decided he wasn't really interested in repeating the performance of Niles."
Grammer believes the decision has helped the storyline of the follow-up.

Many of “Frasier’s” all-time greatest episodes feature guest appearances by Bebe Neuwirth as Lilith Sternin, the icy-cold ex-wife of Kelsey Grammer’s title character. The “Frasier” sequel will return to where it all began: Boston. That city, of course, was the setting for “Cheers,” the series that first introduced the character of Frasier Crane, played by Kelsey Grammer, in 1984. The hit NBC spin-off “Frasier” moved the character to Seattle; in its finale, the Frasier made the quick decision to fly to Chicago to chase a love interest, rather than head to San Francisco, where a new TV job awaited.
But as Paramount+ confirmed on Wednesday morning, the new version of “Frasier” will follow the character “in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston, Mass., with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill.”

The sequel sees Frasier (Grammer) off to a different city with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge, and an old dream or two to finally fulfill.
Olagundoye will play Olivia, head of the psych department at an Ivy League university. She projects confidence, warmth, and professionalism—in other words, the opposite of how completely unglued she feels on the inside. Olivia must contend daily with her colleague (and Frasier’s old college buddy) Alan (Nicholas Lyndhurst), who resents Olivia’s seniority over him. The two of them disagree on just about everything, but they both admire Frasier—and each hopes to use...

The pair join series lead Kelsey Grammer as well as cast members Nicholas Lyndhurst and Jack Cutmore-Scott.
Plot details are being kept mostly under wraps for the series, but the official logline states, “Frasier is off to a different city with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge, and an old dream or two to finally fulfill. Frasier has re-entered the building!”
Keith will star as David, Frasier’s nephew. The character is the son of Niles and Daphne from the original show who was born during the two-part series finale. Now an adult, David is described as “an awkward college freshman with a penchant for off-kilter observations. Jack Cutmore-Scott has been tapped to star opposite Kelsey Grammer in Frasier, Paramount+’s sequel series to the classic NBC sitcom. Cutmore-Scott will play Frasier Crane’s son Freddy. Also cast in the followup as a series regular is British actor Nicholas Lyndhurst who will play Alan Cornwall, a university professor who is an old college friend of Frasier’s.
In the new Frasier series, Frasier (Grammer) is off to a different city with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge, and an old dream or two to finally fulfill.
Charming and handsome, Frasier’s son Freddy (Cutmore-Scott) is a nuanced combination of his father and grandfather. Years ago, Freddy rejected following in his father’s footsteps—dropping out of college to become a fireman—and he’s never looked back until now, when recent troubles have left him with no one to turn to in his life.

Paramount+’s reboot of the hit NBC sitcom “Frasier” is set to begin rehearsals in February. But the show will notably be missing a fan-favorite member of the original cast: David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier’s younger brother Niles Crane.
“For a while we were going to try to bring back the whole cast, the whole legacy cast,” star Kelsey Grammer told People. However, the actor told the outlet that the creative team behind the revival decided to change course after learning Hyde Pierce wouldn’t be taking part.

Dr. Frasier Crane existed long before his got his “Cheers” spinoff — the fittingly titled “Frasier” — in 1993. Now, thanks to Kelsey Grammer and a smartly sentimental green light from Paramount+, the well-to-do radio host will go on after it too, in a series revival expected to begin production next year.
Sadly, the same can’t be said for David Hyde Pierce’s Niles Crane: the well-loved (if intensely persnickety) younger brother of the snooty psychiatrist, who stole scene after scene during the original run and will not return.
“For a while we were going to try to bring back the whole cast, the whole legacy cast,” Grammer said in a recent interview with People. “David basically decided he wasn’t really interested in repeating the performance of Niles.”
It’s a tough blow. Across 11 seasons of “Frasier,” Niles became a fan-favorite standout: delivering not only the humor, but the heart that...

Kelsey Grammer is opening up about David Hyde Pierce’s decision not to return to the upcoming Frasier revival series on Paramount+. Hyde Pierce played Grammer’s titular Frasier Crane’s younger brother on the Emmy-winning Cheers spinoff series.
“David basically decided he wasn’t really interested in repeating the performance of Niles,” Grammer told People in an interview.
After Frasier, Hyde Pierce went on to successful theater career and most recently starred in the HBO Max series Julia.
Grammer said Hyde Pierce’s decision not to return actually has worked out well in terms of the new series’ storyline.
“In a very funny way, it just took us to a new place, which was what we originally wanted to do, anyway, which was a Frasier third act,” Grammer told People in the interview. “It’s an entirely new life for him.”

The sophomore season of the Paramount+ revival series will premiere with two episodes on Dec. 15.
“The Game” stars Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, Adriyan Rae, Vaughn Hebron, Analisa Velez and Toby Sandeman. Kelsey Grammer is returning to Frasier in a revival set at Paramount+. The actor is addressing how John Mahoney’s absence will be dealt with on the show.
“His loss is and was devastating and must be given the proper attention in honor of the extraordinary man he was and the contribution he made to the show and to the acting profession,” Grammer told Fox News Digital. “We will most certainly be honoring him according to his merit. A man of merit he remains to this day.”
Mahoney died in 2018 and played patriarch Martin Crane in the comedy series.
Grammer added, “John was a kind man, and the world cannot afford to lose a kind man at any time.”
The sitcom star also made it clear that the new Frasier series “is not a reboot.”
