The "Suits" renaissance continues over at Netflix where viewers are continuing to binge eight seasons of the legal drama at an alarming rate. There are actually nine seasons of "Suits" in total, but fans will have to go elsewhere to see how things wrap up, at least for the time being. At the end of season 7, Harvey (Gabriel Macht) travels to Chicago after his former partner Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) left their law firm, Pearson Darby Specter, to work as a fixer for newly elected Mayor, Bobby Novak (Morgan Spector). The dark history of Chicago politics is filled with backroom deals orchestrated by corrupt politicians that could make for compelling TV, leading the USA Network to greenlight the "Suits" spinoff "Pearson."
Hoping to expand on the success of "Suits" and capitalize on Torres' beaming star power, "Pearson" struggled to find the same success and was unceremoniously canceled after just one season.

Banking on the renewed interest in “Suits,” which has become a streaming hit on Netflix 12 years after it first debuted on the USA Network, Peacock has exclusively added the legal series’ short-lived spinoff, “Pearson,” to its ranks.
Gina Torres starred as title character Jessica Pearson in the Chicago-set offshoot, which was canceled after one season. The story picked up after Pearson had been disbarred in New York State and accepted a job as a fixer for Chicago Mayor Bobby Novak (Morgan Spector).
The series, which was more about politics than legal battles, was based on a suggestion by Torres after the 2016 election. She also came on board as a producer.
“I started talking to [executive producers] Aaron Korsh and Daniel Arkin, and we started throwing ideas back and forth, until it became what it is now,” Torres told Collider in 2019.
“Jessica really is a shark… She’s gotta keep moving. She’s...

USA Network legal drama Suits has entered an important second phase in its TV life. After airing throughout the 2010s on basic cable, the show about a very busy New York law firm has become an unexpected hit in the streaming world.
Though all nine seasons of the series have been available to stream on Peacock for awhile now, the addition of the first eight seasons to Netflix on June 17 helped supercharge its popularity. According to Nielsen, Suits has broken streaming records with the number of minutes it was streamed across multiple platforms this summer. Anecdotally, you may even know of several folks cranking through the show’s 134 episodes right now – or maybe that person is even you!
While Suits‘ “second phase” as a bona fide streaming phenomenon is an impressive achievement for any show with cable origins, there is still one more phase in the TV life cycle it needed to conquer: a spinoff.

Suits is one of the best legal dramas that actually managed to make the profession of lawyer cool again. The USA Network series follows Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who has a photographic memory and joins Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) at a prestigious law firm. The only problem with that is Mike didn’t actually go to law school and he doesn’t have a degree about which he has to lie to everyone. Suits ran for 9 brilliant seasons and ended its run around three years ago in 2019. So, if you are a Suits fan and miss the series here are some brilliant shows like Suits you can watch.

USA Network has canceled the Gina Torres-led “Suits” spinoff “Pearson” after one season, an individual with knowledge tells TheWrap.
The legal drama debuted in July and ended its 10-episode run in September. Its cancellation comes over a month after the planned series finale of “Suits,” which aired Sept. 25. “Suits” premiered on USA in 2011 and ran for nine seasons.
“Pearson” centers on the world of recently disbarred NYC powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson (Torres), a character that originated on “Suits,” as she adjusts to down and dirty Chicago politics. Newly appointed as Chicago Mayor Bobby Novak’s (Morgan Spector) right-hand fixer, Jessica is quickly embroiled in a crooked and dangerous new world where every action has far-reaching consequences. With her compulsion to win, Jessica is forced to reconcile her unstoppable drive with her desire to do the right thing – two things very much at odds.

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including the Arrowverse, Titans, The Righteous Gemstones and Dancing With the Stars!
1 | That late-night board meeting on Titans seemed rather unfazed by the young woman who crashed through their window, right? Also, did everyone catch Roy Harper’s name on Donna’s cell phone? And does anyone suspect the new Titans do so much of their training blindfolded so as to better conceal stunt doubles?

Bobby Novak is feeling himself.
For the first time, Pearson Season 1 Episode 6 presented us with the Bobby who put on his big boy pants and was ready to be an active participant in his campaign and mayorship.
He wasn't sitting off to the side leaving Jessica, Keri, and the others to do his work.
Finally, Bobby's backbone replaced his wishbone. For so long it felt like he was sitting back, and everyone else was fighting his battles and putting in more work than he was.
It was easy to forget how well Bobby and Jessica work together when they're on the same page since Keri and his relationship monopolizes most of his screentime.

Bobby is over the tug-of-war happening between Pat and Jessica. He was encouraged to pick a side by both of them, and he did. He chose Jessica.

“Suits” fans will get a double dose of their favorite characters with the Gina Torres-led spinoff “Pearson” debuts right after the main series’ final season premieres Wednesday night. And just as the title of the new show implies, “Pearson” is all about Torres’ Jessica Pearson.
Even though the disbarred NYC powerhouse attorney is now adjusting to down and dirty Chicago politics, Torres assures us that she’s still the Jessica you know and love.
“We took great pains to ensure that, even though the show by and large is really a complete departure from ‘Suits’ that you would still recognize the character that you love so much,” Torres told TheWrap in the interview above. “And so she is very much intact, she is very much the no-holds-barred, dynamic woman in charge that all of our Suitors love.”
