Ariana Grande has debuted the emotional video for her second Eternal Sunshine single, “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).” The visual directly references the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, an inspiration for Grande’s latest LP.
The video opens with Grande, playing a character named Peaches, in an office for Brighter Days Inc. She’s planning on undergoing a procedure to remove all memories of her ex, who is played by Evan Peters.
In the opening lines, she sings, “I don’t wanna hide, but...

Ariana Grande has announced her seventh studio album, eternal sunshine, set for release on March 8th via Republic.
Arriving three and a half years after 2020’s Positions, eternal sunshine marks the end of the longest break Grande has ever taken between subsequent studio records. Though the pop star has yet to share many additional details behind the album, it’s worth noting that eternal sunshine will be released almost 20 years to the day since the premiere of Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; the psychological romantic drama stars Jim Carrey, of whom Grande is quite the fan.
It’s also safe to assume eternal sunshine will include last week’s comeback single “yes, and?,” which Grande co-wrote and co-produced with Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh. See the artwork for the album below.
Last year, Grande released a 10th anniversary reissue of her debut album Yours Truly,...

Ariana Grande returns to the pop fray with “Yes, And?,” her first solo music in more than three years, following a hiatus in which the singer was cast in the role of Glinda in the film version of the Broadway musical Wicked, due in November. The new single comes on the heels of Grande’s guest spot on last year’s chart-topping remix for the Weeknd’s “Die for You.”
Co-written and co-produced by Grande and hitmakers Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh, “Yes, And?” is an expletive-laden uptempo house track that urges listeners to find their light and brush off negativity. Grande more overtly claps back at her critics during a spoken bridge: “Don’t comment on my body, do not reply/Your business is yours and mine is mine/Why do you care so much whose dick I ride?”

Ariana Grande is back with a new single, “yes, and?” Stream it below.
“yes, and?” is a nu-disco house track that interpolates Madonna’s “Vogue,” and finds Grande addressing intrigue about her personal life. “Your business is yours and mine is mine/ Why do you care so much whose dick I ride?” she sings in the bridge. The song was written by Grande, Max Martin, and Ilya Salmanzadeh and recorded in New York City,
Grande first started hinting at the new release several weeks ago when she was photographed in New York City wearing a black crewneck with the single name printed on her chest. Then, Grande uploaded the single art to her Instagram and to the Instagram account for her 2018 album, Sweetener, along with the pre-save link for the song.
Even before hinting at the new single, though, Grande has been alluding to new music being on the way.

Ariana Grande, who recently posted that she has completed her long-awaited seventh studio album, announced on Sunday morning that the first single from it will arrive on January 12, reports ‘Variety’. The song is apparently titled ‘Yes, And?’, a playful progression from Grande’s 2019 semi-autobiographical single and album, ‘Thank U, Next’.
The singer, notes ‘Variety’, has been featured on several hit singles in recent years — most notably the Weeknd’s remixes of ‘Save Your Tears’ and ‘Die for You’ — but she has not released an album or even a single under her own name since her sixth full-length, ‘Positions’, dropped in October 2020.
She has been hard at work on Universal’s big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical ‘Wicked’, which is due in November, and more quietly, she also split with longtime manager Scooter Braun and is now repped by Brandon Creed, adds ‘Variety’.

Singer-songwriter Ariana Grande is making her return in 2024 with a new album, she confirmed with a series of social media posts. “See you next year,” Grande wrote in the caption to a carousel of Instagram photos and videos, reports Variety.
She tagged her producer Ilya Salmanzadeh, Republic Records and numerous others, and shared a variety of in-studio memories that vary in tone: a video of Grande’s mother dancing, a screenshot of a FaceTime call where she’s dancing, a photo of a warehouse (possibly a music video set?) and another photo shows her crying. “The two moods of the album,” she wrote in her Instagram story.
As per Variety, the Grammy winner also included a video taken by someone who notes that it is “almost the last day of this album.” “I’m so tired,” she says in the clip. “But so happy and grateful. I also feel like I weigh 3,000 tons.

Beyonce and Jay-Z have arrived to the Golden Globes, albeit nearly an hour late.
The power couple entered the Beverly Hilton almost an hour into the ceremony, when Kate McKinnon was introduced on stage to present Ellen DeGeneres the Carol Burnett Award. They stood in the aisle during McKinnon’s introduction and took their seats before DeGeneres walked onstage.

First nominated in 2006 for best actress in a motion picture – musical or comedy, for “Dreamgirls,” as well as best original song for “Listen” from the film, she was up for best original song two years later for “Once in a Lifetime” from “Cadillac Records.” This year, she’s again in contention in the original song race, for “Spirit” from the 2019 remake of “The Lion King” (also nominated are co-writers Ilya Salmanzadeh and Labrinth).

Just look at this line-up of nominees: Beyonce vs. Taylor Swift vs. Elton John vs. Cynthia Erivo — along with composer and Egot champ Robert Lopez and spouse Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
Will there be a glitzier or more highly competitive category at the 77th Golden Globes than Best Original Song in a Motion Picture? Too bad that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association doesn’t make room for musical performances during its party that passes as an awards show.
One can only hope that these are also the same candidates that will show up on the Oscar ballot. Perhaps John Travolta will be given another a chance to right his wrong when he weirdly introduced “Frozen’s” Elsa — Idina Menzel — as Adele Dazeem before she sang the winning”Let It Go” at the 2014 ceremonies — that is if she gets to wail “Into the Unknown” from its sequel, “Frozen 2.”

When the Academy announces its shortlist for song nominations on Dec. 16, you can be certain that at least one Disney song will be on it and probably more.
Disney songs have been nominated 33 times in the past 30 years, winning 12 of the gold statuettes.
This year, the studio has at least four in the running: two from live-action remakes of animated classics and two from highly anticipated sequels. Three are already among the top-10 grossing films of the year, and the fourth, just released, is expected to join that elite crowd in a matter of weeks.
“Speechless,” from this year’s “Aladdin” remake, was written by original composer Alan Menken (who won a 1992 Oscar for that film’s “A Whole New World”) with new lyricist partners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Oscar winners for a song from “La La Land” three years ago). It’s sung by Naomi Scott as...

When the soundtrack for this year’s The Lion King remake dropped in July along with the lead single “Spirit,” performed by Beyoncé, fans on Twitter described its long-awaited arrival as the singer “coming to collect her things” - one of those things obviously being an Oscar for Best Original Song.
The gospel-inspired ballad penned by Beyoncé, the British singer-producer Labrinth and songwriter Ilya Salmanzadeh includes Swahili chants, a choir and, of course, Beyonce’s acrobatic vocals that practically summon thunder by the end of it. The song is noticeably Oscar-baity in its grandeur but also in that a live performance at the ceremony would prompt a long standing O and make for one of the best moments of the night...

Filmmakers and studios are still scrambling to complete their holiday releases, and not all of the songs you’ll be hearing about during awards season are set. But at least a dozen tunes are in contention for that all-important Oscar shortlist to be revealed Dec. 16.
Although the new song Taylor Swift and Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote for “Cats” is under wraps, it’s already looming large. Swift “really has understood the central message [of ‘Cats’] in the “very sophisticated lyric” she wrote for “Beautiful Ghosts,” Lloyd Webber tells Variety, “and it’s entirely written for the dramatic situation.” It first appears sung by lead actress Francesca Hayward, later in a reprise by Judi Dench, and finally over the end credits by Swift herself.
Five contenders are from Disney. Topping that list is “Into the Unknown,” another showcase for Idina Menzel in “Frozen 2.” You can never count out two-time Oscar winner Randy Newman,...

Normani performed a delightful and expertly choreographed rendition of her new single “Motivation” at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday.
Recalling the song’s video, Normani began the performance lounging on a basketball hoop before descending to a neon pink, makeshift court where she belted the track and ran through a impressive routine with an array of back-up dancers. Halfway through the song, Normani commandeered the stage solo for her own dance break before welcoming the troupe back for a bombastic finale.

Every blue moon, you can actually hear a pop superstar be born. “Motivation” is that song, and Normani is that superstar in the making (but already well ahead in her development).
Prior to “Motivation,” Normani had quite a successful incubation period, first as a member of Fifth Harmony and then with two Top 10 solo singles. However, everything we had heard from her in the period following Fifth Harmony’s hiatus had been collaborations, pairing her voice with fellow R&b-pop stars. “Motivation,” co-written by Ariana Grande, Max Martin, Savan Kotecha,...

One of the most iconic musical moments in cinematic history was a spur-of-the-moment freestyle, recorded for a demo for a movie that many thought would be overshadowed by a beautiful cartoon from Disney: Pocahontas. In 1994, though, The Lion King began with an animated sun rising against a crimson sky, a now-legendary voice booming “Nants ingonyama bagithi baba.” Nothing would eclipse it.
“As I was leaving the studio I saw the image of Mufasa, and I asked what’s that about, and I was told that’s the king arriving.

A brand new, CGI version of “The Lion King” opened on July 19 featuring Beyonce as the voice of Nala, but she didn’t just contribute her voice acting to the film. She also produced and curated the soundtrack album “The Lion King: The Gift” and co-wrote and performed a new song, “Spirit.” Will she get Oscar’s attention? Most of our readers think she’ll be nominated for Best Original Song, but not everyone thinks she’ll win. Scroll down to see our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
A plurality of respondents (46%) think Beyonce will win for “Spirit,” which she co-wrote with Ilya Salmanzadeh and Labrinth. Another 36% think she’ll be nominated, but not win, which means that a vast majority (82%) are betting on her to at least make the cut, which leaves only 18% who think Queen Bey will be snubbed entirely.

Beyonce released her single “Spirit” on July 10 in anticipation of Disney’s live-action remake of “The Lion King,” which opens on July 19 and features the song. Now it has a music video to go along with it. The clip premiered during “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” a July 16 special on ABC — which is also owned by Disney, because synergy. Watch it above.
The video features Beyonce, an appearance by her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, and a troupe of African dancers under Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon. And this isn’t the first time Beyonce has used a famous location to shoot a video; she famously closed down the Louvre Museum in France for “Apeshit,” her duet with Jay-Z.

Beyonce Knowles-Carter debuted the music video to “Spirit” on Tuesday, an original song from the upcoming remake of “The Lion King.”
The video aired on ABC’s primetime “The Lion King: Can You Feel the Love Tonight” special, hosted by “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts. Disney is the parent company of ABC. The “Spirit” music video was also posted to Beyonce’s YouTube channel.
In the four-and-a-half minute video, the singer appears in a flowing pink and red gown in the middle of an arid desert. Her seven-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, then appears in a complimentary dress, interspersed with shots from the film of Simba and his father Mufasa.

Make no mistake: “The Lion King” is an animated movie. Almost 100 percent. Only one shot, teased director Jon Favreau ahead of the Hollywood world premiere Tuesday night, was filmed live. Cinematographer Caleb Deschanel confirmed that it was the first thing they filmed on location in Africa. And it’s a gorgeous shot — but the whole film is photo-real gorgeous, and made within a digital world.
What Favreau and his “Jungle Book” VFX master Rob Legato have achieved with global squadrons of animators from Oscar-winner Mpc Film is an astonishing gamechanger. As IndieWire reported during production, “The Lion King” marks the first keyframe-animated movie shot on a virtual reality set with a live-action aesthetic.
The results are stunning. Aesthetically, Favreau was able to pull together naturalistic animation of wild animals moving their mouths, with voice actors speaking in English and breaking into song. This could have gone wrong in so many ways,...

Beyonce has 23 Grammys, but she may be coming for Oscar next. She co-wrote the original song “Spirit” for the live-action version of “The Lion King”; the song dropped on July 10 in advance of the film’s opening on July 19. Do you think it’ll cross that off her Egot bucket list? It would be a moment of redemption after she was disqualified for her songwriting contribution to “Dreamgirls” 13 years ago. Listen to “Spirit” above.
Written by Ilya Salmanzadeh and Labrinth along with Beyonce, the song will be featured in the film as well as on “The Lion King: The Gift,” a compilation album produced and curated by Beyonce that will include the work of African artists and producers. Salmanzadeh has numerous songwriting credits for a variety of artists, including Ellie Goulding (“Love Me Like You Do”), Taylor Swift (“End Game”) and Ariana Grande. Labrinth, meanwhile, recently released “LSD,” a collaboration album with Sia and Diplo.

Ariana Grande fans still have a month to wait for her upcoming fourth album “Sweetner,” which drops on August 17. But on July 13 she gave listeners another taste, and when she’s done you’ll believe “God is a Woman.” Watch the lyric video above.
The single isn’t so much a feminist anthem as it is a sultry come-on, with lyrics like “You love it how I move you / You love it how I touch you / My one, when all is said and done / You’ll believe God is a woman.” It was written by Grande along with Ilya Salmanzadeh, Max Martin, Savan Kotecha and Rickard Göransson.

Ariana Grande has released her first new song in two years. “No Tears Left to Cry” premiered on April 19 along with a futuristic, visual effects-driven new music video directed by Dave Meyers, who won Grammys for directing Missy Elliott‘s “Lose Control” (2006) and Kendrick Lamar‘s “Humble” (2018). Years after Ricky Gervais roasted Mel Gibson at an earlier Globes show the pair hugged on stage when the Australian introduced footage from Mad Max: Fury Road.
Prior to introducing Gibson, Gervais, tongue firmly in his cheek, referred to previous bad blood between the pair. “I’m sure it’s embarrassing for both of us and I blame NBC for this terrible situation.”
After the embrace Gibson turned to the comedian and said: “I love seeing Ricky once every three years because it reminds me to get a colonoscopy.”
A subsequent exchange was bleeped out.
The Martian was named best musical or comedy. Ridley Scott accepted the award and said “Screw you” as music began to play while he thanked a long list of collaborators.
Scott rounded off by saying: “Finally I know my [late] brother Tony would have been here tonight for sure and I know many of you knew him and loved him. I love you...
