Italian designer Veronica Leoni has been named the new creative director of the Calvin Klein Collection. Leoni is the first woman appointed to this role by the brand, a symbol of 1990s minimalism.
“We are proud to name Veronica as Creative Director of Collection, the pinnacle expression of the Calvin Klein brand,” Global Brand President Eva Serrano said in a statement. Leoni will report directly to Serrano.
“It was clear from our first conversations that Veronica’s life’s work had been preparing her for this moment and the opportunity to define a new era for Calvin Klein,” Serrano continued. “I am confident that her purposeful approach to design and work ethic, combined with our shared values, will further enrich our iconic brand and result in a collection that resonates with our consumers around the world.”

“We humans are capable of greatness,” reads the first line in Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña’s The Hyperboreans as the narrator’s voice beams from an old TV set. On the screen, a hypno wheel spins and spins; the voice speaks of evolution and “the energetic charge of ancestral blood.” These ominous themes already suggest that the Chilean stop-motion animator / filmmaker duo continue to explore religious symbolism and the ritualistic nature of their Latin American heritage. Before premiering The Hyperboreans in this year’s Cannes Directors’ Fortnight selection, their 2021 short The Bones was awarded the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film in Venice and proposed a fictionalized legacy to address colonial trauma. Now, their second feature (after 2018’s The Wolf House) continues to mix fact and fiction as a means to allegorize the past.

Primo is no more at Amazon’s Freevee.
Creator Shea Serrano announced the news Tuesday on social media, noting that the series will not be returning for a second season at the ad-supported, Amazon-backed streamer Freevee. Sources say producers Universal Television will shop Primo in a bid to find the beloved comedy a new home.
“A short but beautiful run — sadly we’re not gonna be making any more episodes of Primo — i will always be indebted to everyone who worked on the show to make it so great and i will always be thankful to everyone who watched and championed it — thank you for real — long live Primo,” he wrote alongside a video of the rave reviews for the series from exec producer Mike Schur (Hacks, The Good Place) that doubled as a “For Your Consideration” promo.

The coming-of-age comedy “Primo” from author and journalist Shea Serrano has been canceled at Freevee after a single-season run. “A short but beautiful run — sadly we’re not gonna be making any more episodes of ‘Primo,'” Serrano said. “I will always be indebted to everyone who worked on the show to make it so great and I will always be thankful to everyone who watched and championed it — thank you for real — long live ‘Primo.'”

Freevee has canceled its freshman comedy series Primo from Shea Serrano and Mike Schur.
The decision to pass on a second season came after lengthy deliberations. While the show’s fate was being decided, the options on the cast were extended twice with the second extension ending this month. As explained by a source close to production, the executives looked for ways to confirm a second season but were unable to do so.
Primo employed a large number of Latinos both in front of cameras and behind, a rarity that will continue to diminish as networks and streamers cut down and eliminate productions due to budgetary reasons amid an industry contraction. Another such series, ABC’s Not Dead Yet, was among the broadcast shows canceled at the end of this season. While neither of the shows was deliberately targeted, their cancellations are a setback for representation.

Are you ready for your next TV obsession?
Neon, Netflix's highly-anticipated reggaeton comedy-drama, premieres Thursday, October 19, 2023.
TV Fanatic scored an exclusive first look at a clip from one of the freshman season's most pivotal episodes.
In the clip, we see Isa, an A-list Latin pop star who gathers her friends for a trip to her exclusive tropical island getaway.
In perhaps a nod to the rich and famous, our three leads get out of their car to escape to the private jet for a luxury holiday.
They have a pre-conceived expectation of what's about to go down, but the truth is, they couldn't be more wrong.
Isa, played by the Umbrella Academy's Genesis Rodriguez, tells them this isn't like the getaways other celebrities can give them.
How?

A young couple who moves into their new home gives hope to a neighbour, possesed by a mythical winged creature, to get rid of her curse. In Gabriela Serrano’s silent horror short loosely based on the classic “And Manananggal” (1927) by Jose Nepomuceno, Filipino mythology is used to express the feeling of helplessness and isolation during the times marked by Covid-19. In her interpretation of our new reality, Serrano paints loneliness as a nasty germ that invades the body and splits it in two halves. One way to get rid of it is to find a new shell, the one that is already consumed by another life.
