Gerard Butler and Den of Thieves director Christian Gudegast could head to the Big Apple as Butler is in talks to join the filmmaker for the comedic action-thriller Empire State. The upcoming project finds Butler and Gudegast re-teaming after joining forces for 2018’s Den of Thieves, Plane, and London Has Fallen.
According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Empire State focuses on what happens when “the Empire State Building is attacked by a military contractor hellbent on revenge. Navy Seal turned NY firefighter Rhett (Butler) and NYPD Tactical officer Dani (yet to be cast) must put aside their relationship troubles as they work to rescue hostages and save the famous landmark.”
S. Craig Zahler of Bone Tomahawk fame co-wrote the script with Brian Tucker (Secret Invasion).

While critics may not love them, audiences love the adventures of Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross, Jason Statham’s Lee Christmas, and the rest of the gang. The Expendables 4 (which is actually called Expend4bles) recently got it’s first full, official trailer (embedded above), which is pretty last minute considering the movie is set for a September 22, 2023 release date. Given how soon it’s coming out, we figured it’s time to try to assemble everything we know about the fourth movie in the Expendables series.
The Release Date
The fourth film, created and produced by Millennium Media and Campbell Grobman Films, as well as being distributed by Lionsgate, has been through quite a bit of development hell over the past decade. As previously stated, the last movie was released in 2014 with the sequel being released in 2012 and the original premiering back in 2010. Following this pattern, the fourth movie...

When Olympus Has Fallen was released back in 2013, I don’t think anyone assumed it was the start of a franchise. Meant more as a quick way to beat White House Down to theaters (that was the year Hollywood decided that attacks on The White House were the trend to drill down on), it managed to outgross its more polished competitor. Hence, a series was launched. London Has Fallen raised the stakes, and now this week, Angel Has Fallen concludes the story. An improvement over the first two, largely awful outings, this is still a rather mediocre action movie. There’s some fun to be had, but not nearly enough to warrant a recommendation. Taking place after London Has Fallen, Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) now protects a new President in Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman), formerly the Vice President. Struggling with insomnia and physical issues after all of...

For the first time in Angel Has Fallen, Banning is no longer sure if he can trust his own agency. ?He can?t sleep, he can?t get through the day without pain killers. For Gerard Butler, this was exactly the way he wanted to see Banning?not idealized but rather a hardboiled warrior facing down his own doubts? inviting audiences into a ride as psychologically volatile as it is filled with stunts and battles. ?
Knowing he wanted both more grit and more emotional depth, Butler searched for a director who could thread that needle. He found what he was searching for in Ric Roman Waugh, a former stunt performer seen in a long roster of 80s action classics, who came to the fore as a director with his taut, tense trilogy of prison thrillers: ?Felon, Snitch and Shot - Caller.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Angel Has Fallen starring Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman. This is the third film in the Fallen series. London Has Fallen was the sequel to the 2013 film Olympus Has Fallen – both directed by Antoine Fuqua.
Gerard Butler starred in 2018’s Hunter Killer alongside Gary Oldman and Common. His third time as agent Banning looks to be a role that Butler has taken great fun in playing and will undoubtedly give another strong performance.

Some movies should never be graced with a sequel. Inexcusable in almost every way, Antione Fuqua’s 2013 action-thriller “Olympus Has Fallen” is one of them (read our review here). Sadly, Babak Najafi’s equally crummy “London Has Fallen” tread on its heels 3 years later (read our review here). And it seems the end isn’t quite nigh for the series. Following a similar recess, Ric Roman Waugh now sees fit to craft a full-blown trilogy with a script by Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt.

Ric Roman Waugh, directed the Dwayne Johnson-starrer Snitch, has signed on to direct the Olympus Has Fallen sequel.
The Hollywood Reporter reports Gerard Butler will reprise his role in Millennium Films' Angel Has Fallen, the third installment following the action flicks Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen. Butler normally plays the Secret Service agent who has kept American presidents safe, but this time around, he's the target.
Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, who created the Olympus has Fallen franchise, are writing the script for this third installment. This follows Antoine Fuqua's 2013 film Olympus Has Fallen, which earned $161 million worldwide. Babak Najafi's London Has Fallen, released earlier this year, grossed $195 million globally.
No more casting details or release date yet. I'm excited to see what happens in this third installment, the previous two movies were, afterall, pretty entertaining.

Gerard Butler’s Mike Banning is falsely-accused and on the run in the explosive Olympus threequel, Angel Has Fallen.
Angel Has Fallen will continue to prove that Gerard Butler's Secret Service agent, Mike Banning, officially has the worst luck ever when it comes to his security details. Seriously, how many calamities can one bodyguard stop?
Interestingly, the film franchise launched with 2013’s Olympus Has Fallen, would fall short in its sequel, 2016’s London Has Fallen, (critically at least - it still did a fair amount of cash at the box office). However, like its protagonist, Banning, the franchise keeps kicking, still bearing the “Fallen" branding. The threequel will see another director turnover, this time placed in the hands of Ric Roman Waugh.

Gerard Butler just keeps on coming. Notwithstanding the fact that this year’s Olympus Has Fallen sequel, London Has Fallen, fell way short of the original (critically at least - it still did a fair amount of cash at the box office), wheels are in motion on a third film in the series.
Butler is set to return to play Secret Service agent Mike Banning, and this time, the title of the film is Angel Has Fallen. That suggests that the target of the terrorist attacks in the film this time will be the President’s plane, Air Force One (Angel being its codename). And that also suggests that it’s long past time we dug out our Blu-ray of Air Force One. We shall get onto that pronto.

Apparently President Benjamin Asher, Aaron Eckhart’s tough-guy Commander in Chief in the —Has Fallen series of films, thinks term limits are for pussies. Deadline reports that he and his best bro/bodyguard, Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) will return for a third round of stabbing terrorists in the brain in Angel Has Fallen.

Because that’s the code name for Air Force One, as it turns out, a code name the real Secret Service will probably change now that this movie has been announced.

Mike Banning just can’t catch a break. Three years ago, Gerard Butler’s chiselled secret agent bore witness to a devastating terrorist attack on the White House in Olympus Has Fallen, before shipping across the pond to tackle threats anew in middling sequel London Has Fallen.
The fun doesn’t stop there, however, as Deadline reports that Butler has agreed terms to headline Angel Has Fallen, the third entry into the wildly over-the-top action series. Setting up shop at Millennium Films, the general gist for Angel reveals that Mike Banning’s hunter will become the hunted, as new enemies prepare to wage war on Washington D.C.. That places the Potus in danger once more, though Deadline’s scoop points to Air Force One (codenamed Angel) as a possible focal point.

I haven't had a chance to see London Has Fallen yet, but I heard it wasn't nearly as good as Olympus Has Fallen, a legitimately enjoyable action thriller that features brutal, over-the-top violence and some truly ridiculous sequences. (I greatly preferred Olympus to that year's other "Die Hard in the White House" movie, White House Down.) But even though it may not be as well-reviewed as the original, London Has Fallen ended up making more money in the long run, and you know what that means: sequel time!
Deadline reports that original writers Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt and actor Gerard Butler are all returning for Angel Has Fallen, a third film in the franchise.
Butler will be back to star as Secret Service agent Mike Banning, who has spent his career keeping American presidents safe. This time, he’s the target. If his attackers can take down half of Washington D.

2013’s “Olympus Has Fallen” already didn’t receive rave reviews, but its sequel, “London Has Fallen” is scoring even lower with critics. After an unconventional start into acting (he was fired as a lawyer in Edinburgh due to his partying antics and moved to London), Gerard Butler has appeared in rom-coms, animations and even musicals, but the Scottish actor has emerged as an unashamed Hollywood bad-ass in some of the most iconic action films of recent times.
From an early role starring alongside James Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) to returning as one-man-army Mike Banning in London Has Fallen (in cinemas March 3), there is no end to the tough-guy roles that Butler can impress in.
The sequel to the worldwide smash hit Olympus Has Fallen sees Butler in his latest action-packed role, as the relentless bodyguard to the Us president, Mike Banning. Upon the discovery of a plot to assassinate the world leaders attending the Prime Minister’s funeral, he makes it his mission to stand firm against the relentless violence that awaits him.

Here’s your first look at the teaser trailer for London Has Fallen – the sequel to the worldwide smash hit Olympus Has Fallen, a non-stop, suspenseful action thriller that delivers high-octane excitement through a heightened sense of authenticity.
The visceral intensity springs from a timely premise: after the British Prime Minister passes away, his funeral becomes a target of a terrorist organization to destroy some of the world’s most powerful leaders, devastate the British capital, and unleash a terrifying vision of the future.

Well, this was predictable. Whenever a big Hollywood action film so much as thinks to visit London, you know destruction can’t be far behind. And it wasn’t tough to guess what might get it in the neck – or the clock face – first given the title of London Has Fallen. Say buh-bye to Big Ben (or, more accurately, part of the Elizabeth Tower) in this teaser poster. Following on from 2013’s surprise victor in the White House-in-peril box office arms race, Olympus Has Fallen, the new film heads across the pond to cause trouble here. Christian Gudegast, Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt are behind the script, which finds Gerard Butler’s Secret Service agent Mike Banning, Aaron Eckhart’s President Benjamin Asher, Angela Bassett’s Secret Service director Lynn Jacobs and Morgan Freeman’s Speaker Allan Trumbull among those who travel to London to attend the funeral of the Prime Minister.

Despite the fact that Black Friday is hitting stores in just a few short days (and seems to have hit the internet already), this week is actually pretty light on high-end releases, as well as gift sets. The Expendables 3 Blu-ray The gang is back for Expendables 3, but this time writers Sylvestor Stallone Creighton Rothenberger, and Katrin Benedikt mess with the formula. The new movie is a PG-13 adventure filled with less appearances from action.s old faithfuls and more appearances from some young hotshots. It.s a good launch pad for the youngsters, but it doesn.t have the grit of the first two movies in the franchise. That isn.t to say the original members...

Though some might argue that The Expendables 3 was one big movie flub in itself (sure it has its moments, but the sequel fell flat), there were some real bloopers on the set of the action flick. We're used to seeing gag reels for comedies, especially with all the alternate takes many directors try out, but there's something even more endearing and fun about seeing stars like Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, Kelsey Grammer and Harrison Ford laughing after messing up a take during production. There's a lot of downtime on action films, so it's good to see not everyone is dead serious all the time while filming. Watch! Here's the gag reel for Patrick Hughes' The Expendables 3 from Collider: The Expendables 3 is directed by Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) and written by Sylvester Stallone and Olympus Has Fallen scribes Creighton Rothenberger & Katrin Benedikt. Out of the two dueling White House takeover pics that vied for box office dominance in 2013, it’s safe to say that Olympus Has Fallen emerged victorious against White House Down (though there are some, myself included, who feel that the latter film was far superior). While White House Down disappointed at the box office, Olympus Has Fallen made more on a smaller budget and certainly did well enough to warrant a sequel, which kicked off production in London today.
Rather obviously titled London Has Fallen, the follow-up reunites stars Aaron Eckhart, Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo. This time around, Secret Service agent Mike Banning (Butler) and President of the United States Benjamin Asher (Eckhart) find themselves battling a terrorist threat in London.
