More good news for S.W.A.T. The series, which just got a renewal for a seventh and final season by CBS, also has a new streaming home. Netflix has made a substantial deal with lead studio Sony Pictures TV for the first five seasons of the action drama starring Shemar Moore, which will begin streaming in the U.S. on May 17. The current sixth season of the series is expected to join them on the platform in the fall.
As part of CBS’ deal for S.W.A.T. (and its other shows), current seasons of the network’s series are available on Paramount+ for their duration and a few months after they end their broadcast run. S.W.A.T.’s first three seasons are also currently on Hulu.

Executive: Fired Law & Order: Organized Crime co-executive producer Craig Gore and Universal Television have made a deal behind closed doors
Over a year after Chicago P.D. alum Gore was unceremoniously cut loose from his perch at Dick Wolf’s latest spinoff over racially charged social media posts in the days follow the murder of George Floyd, the studio has agreed to pay the producer a mid-range six figure sum, we hear. Emerging out of the arbitration clause in his contract that Gore sought in court last fall, the confidential agreement effectively wipes up a potentially messy situation for all parties.
Court filings late last year revealed that Gore was to be paid around $50,000 an episode as a co-ep on the 13-episode order for the Christopher Meloni-led Organized Crime. The spinoff debuted on April 1 on NBC. The Wolf, Ilene Chaiken and Matt Olmstead created show was picked up for a second season last month.

The “Law & Order: Svu” spinoff centering around Chris Meloni’s Elliot Stabler has been delayed.
The news comes as a result of a showrunner change, with Matt Olmstead exiting the role for creative reasons, Variety has confirmed with sources. Olmstead has plenty of history in the Dick Wolf stable of shows, having co-created and helped launch “Chicago P.D.,” “Chicago Med,” and “Chicago Fire.”
“Law & Order: Organize Crime” was previously scheduled to premiere on NBC in the fall, however, back in August it was nowhere to be seen in a revised fall schedule issued by the network. Sources say it is still on course to air sometime in the 2020-2021 season, which is being heavily disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. It will now begin a search for a new showrunner, with Olmstead likely to move to a different Wolf property, sources say.

Craig Gore is a writer that many people who read The Playlist probably aren’t that familiar with. His previous credits include episodes of “S.W.A.T.” and “Chicago Pd,” as well as the upcoming, highly-anticipated “Law & Order: Svu” spin-off that stars actor Chris Meloni. He definitely has a penchant for writing crime dramas. Oh, and he also enjoys posing for pictures outside of his house with a large gun threatening to kill people that come close to his home.

Defiance, Season 1: Episode 5 – “A Well Respected Man”
Directed by Michael Nankin
Written by Craig Gore and Tim Walsh
Airs Monday nights at 9 on SyFy
It was in my review of last week’s episode of Defiance that I suggested a StarCraft connection for this series. Maybe it’s because I played those games too much, but that Volge up there looks like it could be an accurate cross between a Protoss Zealot and a Zerg Hydralisk. In any case, the video game influence that you would expect this show to have shines through again in “A Well Respected Man” during a cat and mouse scene (albeit an imaginary one) that infuses a menace reserved for moments with the likes of Silent Hill‘s Pyramid Head or Resident Evil‘s Nemesis. Kenya can’t go toe-to-toe with a single Volge, even if they’re more vulnerable than either of those other entities.

We're a bit disappointed in "Cult" so far, but since we've been a fan of Robert Knepper since his "Carnivale" days, we're holding out hope that things will improve so we can keep seeing him on a weekly basis.
If you concur, here's everything you need to know about what's coming up on the show over the next four weeks:
"Cult" Episode 1.06 - "The Good Fight" (airs 3/29/13, 9-10 pm)
Obba Babatunde (“Dawson’S Creek,” “The Young And The Restless) Guest Stars In The Episode — Skye (Jessica Lucas) collapses the morning after the “Cult” fan party, suffering a serious reaction to the drug she was slipped. The doctors urge Jeff (Matt Davis) to locate a sample of the drug so they can find a way to reverse its effects in order to save Skye’s life.
Detective Sakelik (guest star Aisha Hinds “Weeds”) arrives at the hospital but refuses to help.

In This Episode...
A woman reaches out to Jeff in a “Cult” chat room. Her husband disappeared under similar circumstances as Nate, and she wants to meet and work together. He makes a move to them, but quickly reveals himself to be no threat. This is Terrence, a man who finds and rescues loved ones from cults. Jeff’s mystery date, Anya, hired him to find her husband, Romy. When Terrence deems that Jeff is not a True Believer, Anya joins the conversation. Has it really been just three episodes of "Cult" that have aired so far? It seems like at least a few more, which isn't necessarily a good thing, but if you're still digging the show-within-the-show concept, check out a Producer's Preview of Episode 1.04, "Get With the Program."
In this sneak peek "Cult" creator Rockne S. O'Bannon talks about the enforcer Terrence Ross and his relationship with Jeff and Skye.
"Cult" Episode 1.04 - "Get with the Program" (airs 3/15/13, 9-10 pm)
The Notebook — Jeff (Matt Davis) tells Skye (Jessica Lucas) about Ama (guest star Neelam Khabra), a woman he met on a “Cult” fan site who claims that her husband is missing after becoming obsessed with the show. When they finally meet her, Jeff notices that she has a “Cult” notebook that looks eerily like Nate’s notebook.
Ama introduces Jeff and Skye to a man who finds and deprograms cult members.
