Before becoming one of Hollywood’s most beloved leading men, Chris Pratt lived in an apartment behind the TLC Chinese Theater. Well into the early morning, he would wander on the Walk of Fame and stare at the stars beneath his feet, wondering if his time in the spotlight would ever come.
Pratt returned to the Hollywood landmark on Sunday, not to lament over broken dreams, but to help introduce Garfield creator Jim Davis as he cemented his signature outside the TLC Chinese Theater at “The Garfield Movie” premiere.
“[He] absolutely rocked the part,” said Davis about Pratt’s performance as the lasagna-loving cat. “You laugh just listening to [his] kind of timing. He also has the ability to go over to the softer side and to sound angry and stuff like that. So, it’s not just the humor, but his ability to bring out all sides of the character.”

After voicing the leads in The Lego Movie franchise, The Super Mario Bros. Movie and now The Garfield Movie, Chris Pratt has established himself as a go-to voice for iconic animated characters. But after doing these multiple roles, how does he make each voice unique?
At the Los Angeles premiere of Garfield on Sunday, Pratt walked The Hollywood Reporter through each of the different voices, noting that as Emmet in The Lego Movie, he “aimed at something that was different than myself — it was kind of inspired a lot by Bill Hader’s voice and his character in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and for Mario, “you had to find some version that was different than myself but not hardcore Mario from the games because that would grow a little tiresome, I think.”

Casting Chris Pratt as Star-Lord was a pretty big gamble for Marvel. After all, to most of us he was the man-child Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation and nothing more. Fortunately for Pratt and the MCU, director James Gunn saw something special in him. While a number of actors also auditioned for the part, one who still remembers that moment and why he didn’t land Peter Quill is Joel Edgerton, who is well aware he just didn’t understand the tone they were going for.
Appearing on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast (via Variety), Joel Edgerton remembered Guardians of the Galaxy being one of the most high-profile projects he missed out on, probably for good reason. “Star-Lord’s a good one, actually, because I, unlike Chris [Pratt], didn’t quite sort of understand the tone of it the way he did and the way that those guys did. Before Chris Pratt donned the iconic Star-Lord suit in the MCU, he was known as the lovable Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation. Pratt’s characters prior to his superhero transformation often embodied a larger physique, evidenced by his deliberate weight gain of 60 pounds for the film Delivery Man, because he believed it suited the character.

Thus, prior to slipping into the sleek Star-Lord suit, Pratt naturally had to undergo a remarkable physical metamorphosis, shedding the extra weight to fully embody the iconic superhero.

“Parks and Recreation” debuted April 9, 2009, just three months after Barack Obama’s inauguration. A perfect alignment, one might think, considering how much the NBC sitcom embodied the 44’s “Yes we can” spirit. However, the tone of its much-neglected, much-derided first season was more akin to the Bush era: cynical, polarizing, and slightly clueless.
Subsequently, its opening six episodes have largely been consigned to history: the general advice to newcomers is skip them entirely and start with the sunnier second season. But while the show undoubtedly benefited from its course correction, its initial glimpse into the fictional Pawnee’s madcap P&r department isn’t the disaster often purported.
Much of the criticism inevitably focused on its similarities to “The Office.” The show was conceived as a spin-off from the corporate satire after all, and shares a creator (Greg Daniels), cast member (Rashida Jones), and mockumentary format. Its premiere was even...

When A Romantic Beach Getaway Turned Almost Fatal For Chris Pratt – Here’s What Happened Next! (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Sometimes, romantic escapades turn into a dreadful experience and stay engraved in people’s minds. Many of you would agree with this. At least the Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt would! The actor once had a near-fatal incident on a romantic break, and that was years even before his relationship with Anna Faris. During the promotion of his film The Magnificent Seven, the actor shared this frightful incident several years ago.
Chris gained recognition and fame as Andy Dwyer in the Parks and Recreation series, and after appearing in several movies as a supporting actor, his breakthrough came after playing Star-Lord in the MCU and as Owen Grady in the Jurassic World films. Pratt has also lent his voice in several animated movies and for the lead character. Some...

Chris Pratt is presently a household name with his experience in renowned franchises like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World. The role of Peter Quill was a turning point in his career. The MCU character needed him to go through an intense workout and diet routine which was key in elevating him to international stardom.

Before associating his name with the big franchises and animation flicks, Chris Pratt was known for playing Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation. Pratt made an insane physical transformation to change himself from an adorable overweight to a charming MCU superhero. In 19 memorable episodes that aired over the course of a dozen years and across two different shows — CBS’ The Good Wife and its streaming spinoff The Good Fight — Carrie Preston played Elsbeth Tascioni, a brilliant lawyer whose eccentric behavior constantly threw off the heroes of those dramas. So naturally, when Preston gets her own series, simply titled Elsbeth, the character is now helping the NYPD solve murders. As one does, right?

It has been nearly 10 years since Parks and Recreation (Parks and Rec. for short) closed up shop on its seven-season run. Despite an absence of almost a decade, the beloved NBC sitcom has remained prevalent in the pop culture sphere, garnering a massive following through streaming outlets such as Netflix and Peacock. And as with any top-rated show, the arrival of cool merch was inevitable, yielding dozens of fabulous Parks and Rec. products for hardcore collectors to get their hands on.
One of the first companies to jump on the opportunity of Parks and Rec. merchandise was Funko, the creator of the ubiquitous Pop! line of vinyl figures. Funko has produced a multitude of Parks and Rec. figures of characters from all across Pawnee, including icons such as Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson, to very specific alter egos like Burt Macklin. It's been 20 years since "The O.C." debuted on Fox, but it's still hard to see past Seth Cohen when Adam Brody shows up in a movie or TV show. It shouldn't be, because he's a terrific actor, but there's something about his still-fresh-faced persona that immediately harkens back to his time as America's favorite nerd-turned-awkwardly-popular-kid on the millennials' slightly savvier version of "Beverly Hills 90210."
Recently, Brody took his typecasting head-on with Evan Morgan's "The Kid Detective," an underrated and frustratingly underseen comedy about an Encyclopedia Brown-type wunderkind who's grown up to be a hard-drinking-and-drugging failure of a detective. His character has never made good on his early promise, but suddenly a murder case falls in his lap, and he has the opportunity to break free of his boy-wonder shackles.
Now 43, Brody's taking roles seemingly designed to torch his bantering nice-guy image. You can currently see him in...

A lot has already been said about Chris Pratt's historic use of the F-word in James Gunn's cosmic trilogy capper "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3." For the last decade or so, Pratt and his co-stars have been trying to get just one cuss word to make it into the final cut of the Marvel movies they've been a part of, and finally, the dream has been realized. As the only earthling, Peter Quill was perfectly suited to belt out our planet's favorite expletive, especially during a sequence that takes place on the High Evolutionary's experimental Counter-Earth. Out of any major MCU character, Star-Lord was the obvious choice to drop an F-bomb, save for maybe Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) who came oh so close to saying "Motherf******" when he gets dusted during the post-credit scene in "Avengers: Infinity War."

There may be no better example that shows what a chameleon actor Lee Pace is than his role as Ronan the Accuser in "Guardians of the Galaxy." Pace is virtually unrecognizable as the radicalized Kree enforcer, mostly thanks to the work done by makeup artist Lizzie Georgiou, who also helped finalize the looks for Yondu (Michael Rooker), The Collector (Benicio Del Toro), and the presumed leader (it's really Rocket) of the Guardians, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). Without all the extensive makeup caked on, fans will know Pace as tech entrepreneur Joe MacMillan in AMC's "Halt and Catch Fire," and horror aficionados will remember him from Halina Reijn's housebound thriller "Bodies Bodies Bodies" from last year. Pace was also perfectly cast as the wise elf Thandruil in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."

It’s an obvious point to make, but allow us just to state it once again, for the record: Andy Dwyer from Parks And Recreation really glowed up, didn’t he? Since the first Guardians Of The Galaxy movie in 2014, Chris Pratt: devilishly handsome, able to channel righteous anger, and capable of big stunt-filled set-pieces just as much as he is comedic ones.
He’s the star of several blockbuster franchises, has a number of standout voice turns under his belt, and his filmography is littered with darker, more dramatic roles, too. But which is his best? Only one way to find out: dance off, bro. Read Empire’s list of Chris Pratt’s 10 best movies now:
10. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Genuinely good sequels are something the Jurassic Park movies have historically found harder to come by than triceratops eggs, but this genuinely good sequel, uh, found a way.

Chris Pratt became a star almost by accident. After early acting jobs on such TV series as “Everwood” and “The O.C.,” Pratt was booked to guest on a short six-episode arc on a new NBC sitcom, “Parks and Recreation.” When the six episodes aired, however, the unexpected happened. From just that brief time, Andy Dwyer, his goofball of a character, became an immediate fan favorite, and the show’s producers wasted little time in inviting Pratt to return as a series regular for the second season. As the show’s acclaim grew, so did the cheers for Pratt, resulting in his first Critics Choice nomination.
From there, films beckoned as Pratt was cast in key supporting roles in a number of Best Picture nominees, including “Her,” “Moneyball” and “Zero Dark Thirty.” 2014, however, proved to be Pratt’s breakout year, as he moved up to starring roles in a pair of...

Chris Pratt has been a big movie star for the better part of a decade now, but he's getting ready to conclude a long journey that helped make him a movie star in the first place. With the release of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," his journey as Star-Lord is coming to an end. Well, at the very least, the franchise as we know it is over as the trilogy is done, and that will wrap up what James Gunn had envisioned for Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians. Fortunately for Pratt, his experience saying goodbye to the NBC sitcom "Parks & Recreation" some years ago helped him to prepare for this emotional rollercoaster.
Pratt recently spoke with IGN in anticipation of the release of Marvel's latest blockbuster. During the conversation, the actor explained that he felt this "end of a journey" thing once before when "Parks & Recreation...

When "Guardians of the Galaxy" came out in 2014, people only really knew Chris Pratt as the lazy-but-lovable Andy Dwyer from the NBC series "Parks and Recreation," but soon everyone would come to associate him with Peter Quill, Aka Star-Lord, the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Originally, Pratt almost didn't make the cut, as writer and director James Gunn wasn't sure that the guy known for being an affable goofball could pull off Star-Lord's sarcastic edge. In fact, he had a very different actor in mind: "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" star Glenn Howerton.
Howerton is best known for playing "Sunny" character Dennis Reynolds — a not-so-secret sociopath who considered being compared to a serial killer a compliment — so he's about as far from Pratt's vibe as possible. Since his days on the hit TV show Parks and Recreation, Chris Pratt has come a long way. The actor has starred in blockbuster films like Jurassic World and The Tomorrow War. While he’s now known for his chiseled physique, it wasn’t always that way. Back when the first Guardians of the Galaxy was announced, the concept art was revealed, and set photos had been released, not too many people were at all sold on it and thought Marvel Studios had overreached their grasp. In the wake of the success that was Phase 1, it didn’t feel like it was going to be a hit. At least not a success like The Avengers or any of the preceding films were. I was one of the many who had doubts, and I admit I was wrong, being pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed both entries.
It was easy to count out the first film when you see that two characters involved a large sentient tree and a warring raccoon. And nobody truly knew what James Gunn was capable of. Two films and six total appearances later, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now one...

Chris Pratt chose to call out the press in a speech to the cast and crew after filming wrapped on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
The film is the third and final instalment in the franchise, the first of which, released in 2014, turned Pratt into one of Hollywood’s leading men.
Previously, the actor was known for playing unemployed slacker Andy Dwyer on the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation.
When Guardians of the Galaxy was first announced, many critics predicted that the movie could be Marvel’s “first flop” due to its lack of A-list talent and relatively unknown characters.
In a new interview with Fandango, Pratt revealed that he kept the press clippings of those predictions and read them out at the end of filming Vol 3.

From the lovable Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation to Guardians of The Galaxy‘s Star-Lord, it’s clear that Chris Pratt has range. Now, he’s all tapped into the big franchise market and is a bigger deal than ever. Sometimes it's hard to remember that the Marvel Cinematic Universe wasn't always the mega-franchise it is now. Before all the Disney+ shows, theme parks, and "Avengers"-themed cruises, there was the humble beginning of Jon Faverau's "Iron Man." In what would end up being the blueprint for many more MCU movies to come, the first "Iron Man" film worked thanks to the passionate team behind it, and perhaps the most critical part of it all was the casting of Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Tony Stark. The actor would become synonymous with the character of Iron Man, and while the casting looks like a no-brainer now, back when the MCU was just starting, Downey was apparently the biggest risk when making the movie.
Needless to say, the risk paid off in spades. Downey's Iron Man would continue to grow and evolve, with new emotional weight behind every subsequent movie the character appeared in.

In NBC’s new promo video (watch below), Plaza and “SNL” cast member Chloe Fineman show off their celebrity impersonations before things get a little steamy. “I’m insane,” Plaza whispers while bugging out her eyeballs, “and I’ve been waiting to do this show since I was 12 years old.”
As the host gets closer and closer to invading Fineman’s personal space, Plaza eventually tells her to “shut up” as she purses her lips and goes in for a smoocheroo. The camera’s point of view then shifts to a janitor yards away who watches them passionately kissing. He shakes his head and then returns to vacuuming the floor.

The world has changed a lot over the past decade or so. Things that used to be acceptable aren't any longer. In the case of a particular bit of improv in the NBC series "Parks and Recreation," this is a good thing. Cast your mind back to season 2, episode 6 of the show. "Parks and Rec" was filmed with a lot of improvisation, and sometimes things went a little too far. The person involved this time was Chris Pratt, aka the man who is seemingly able to tame raptors with a mere hand gesture in "Jurassic World," aka it's a-me, Mario.
You may recall a particular scene from that episode where Pratt's character Andy Dwyer has been kicked out by his girlfriend, Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones). She invites him back over, and he thinks they'll hook up. That's when things took a turn. Pratt visited "The Graham Norton Show" (via YouTube...

The first time I saw Chris Pratt on screen was during his run as Bright Abbott on the TV show "Everwood." He had that relatable boy-next-door charm that only the biggest heartthrob in a small town can possess, and it was pretty evident from the start that he would be on to bigger and better things in the future.
And then he started popping up in films like "Jennifer's Body" and "Bride Wars," playing some absolute douche canoe dudes. The boy from "Everwood" who resembled a wall-sized ad in an Abercrombie & Fitch store was suddenly a grade-a jerkwad, which according to Chris Pratt, was due to the hells of typecasting. During a 2016 Reddit Ama with the "Guardians of the Galaxy" star, Pratt confessed that his turn playing pricks was due to his physical appearance. "I was confident and in good shape when I first came to L.A., but...

Dean-dong! Attention fans of Greendale Community College. After a seven-year silence, lovers of Dan Harmon's heartfelt and beautifully meta series "Community" finally got the news they'd been waiting for ever since the phrase "six seasons and a movie" was first uttered way back in the show's second season. That's right. Earlier this year, Harmon officially sent the internet into a tizzy — well, the part that was already obsessed with his flight-of-fancy-loving study group — by revealing that a "Community" movie is officially on the way.
For those unaware of why this is such a big deal, do yourself a favor and revisit the "Rick and Morty" co-creator's much-loved 2009 series. In it, he introduced us to a classic sitcom formula (six strangers are thrown together by circumstance and eventually become unlikely BFFs) before swiftly skewering this familiar format and audience expectations. Instead, Harmon whisks us away on ingeniously written adventures that...

Anyone looking for tips on how to embark on a mid-career transformation, look no further than Chris Pratt. Once known best for his bumbling, low-iq antics as Andy Dwyer on "Parks and Recreation," the actor has now pivoted 180 degrees towards embracing an unironic version of Andy's fantasy action hero alter-ego, FBI Agent Burt Macklin. Okay, that's maybe a little uncharitable for a guy who's now played a superhero, a dinosaur wrangler, and a soldier tasked with fighting off hordes of aliens ... but I can't help it if, no matter how hard he tries, he'll always...

When you have dinosaurs in need of corralling, you call Chris Pratt. When the galaxy needs saving, you call Chris Pratt. If you're caught in vaguely militaristic circumstances and squaring off against dangerous enemies, whether extraterrestrial or human, you -- you know what, you probably get the idea by now.

Parks and Recreation, one of TV showrunner Michael Schur’s most popular works, is an awe-inspiring example of good sitcom writing. Every single character, from the overly eager Leslie Knope, to the staunchly capitalist Ron Swanson, to random Pawnee citizens, is well written and fits the entire Parks and Recreation universe perfectly. But one character from the show emerges as its most iconic: Andy Dwyer. The character, played by current Hollywood superstar Chris Pratt, made Parks and Recreation 10 times funnier. It’s hard to imagine the show without the lovable goofball. Here are reasons why Andy Dwyer is the best character

If you’ve been wondering lately whether we’re living in the worst timeline, it’s possible this next announcement won’t help. Chris Pratt is voicing Nintendo’s Mario in a new Super Mario Bros. animated movie out next year.
Yes, that Chris, the one Mark Ruffalo doesn’t want you to be mean to on Twitter. But even if you think he’s the “worst Chris” and should be replaced in the Pantheon of Chrises by Chris Messina, Nintendo clearly loves Marvel’s Star-Lord, Parks and Recreation‘s Andy Dwyer, and Jurassic World‘s Owen Grady if the company wants him to be the voice of its most iconic character (and arguably the most recognizable figure in video game history). That must have been one hell of an audition.
“Each voice actor was cast for their ability to capture the unique spirit of their character,” said Nintendo in a press release.

In case you didn't hear, the most famous band from "Parks and Recreation" locale Pawnee, Indiana has officially released an album. Mouse Rat, led by the charmingly absent-minded Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt), debuted "The Awesome Album" on August 27, and it landed in quite an impressive spot on the Billboard charts. The Hollywood Reporter says the album from Universal Television/Dualtone Records debuted at No. 2 in the Comedy Albums chart, No. 11 on the Heatseekers Albums chart, and No. 17 on the Top Album Sales charts in the week ending September 2. Pratt plays a teacher turned pre-emptive conscript for a future war with aliens in this overlong and derivative actioner
We’ve come an awfully long way since Chris Pratt was the goofy comic turn Andy Dwyer in TV’s Parks and Recreation, pretending to be top-secret FBI agent Burt Macklin. These days he’s got the chops to be a tough, chiselled action lead who removes his shirt to reveal some serious work with the personal trainer, and this is how he’s presented in this great big overstuffed and overlong sci-fi action thriller from former animation director Chris McKay. In Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, Pratt had at least some residue of his former comedy existence, and to be fair there are one or two funny lines here, but this is a very earnest and generic lead performance.

Mouse Rat, the fictional band from Parks and Recreation fronted by Chris Pratt’s character Andy Dwyer, have officially released a pair of singles, “The Pit” and “Two Birds Holding Hands.”
Both songs originated in Parks and Rec episodes. “The Pit” comes from the Season One finale, and finds Andy turning his drunken, leg-breaking fall into a pit behind his then-girlfriend’s house into a grunge anthem (complete with hilariously exaggerated Eddie Vedder-style vocals). The official version of “The Pit” arrives with an animated lyric video directed by Grant Claire.

It’s not all that often that a fake band from a TV show actually decides to get together and create an actual album so saying that Mouse Rat is something that fans might want to check out isn’t a stretch at this time. Andy Dwyer once asked, "What's 5,000 times better than a candle in the wind?" A Mouse Rat album, that's what. On Wednesday, May 19, it was announced that the (fictional) band from Parks and Recreation will be releasing an album this summer. As fans of the show well know, Mouse Rat was led by Andy (Chris Pratt) and penned the iconic anthem "5,000 Candles In the Wind" following miniature horse Li'l Sebastian's death. And, on the 10th anniversary of the beloved mini horse's funeral, a real Mouse Rat album has been confirmed. These days, anything Marvel Studios touches is guaranteed to turn to gold as the shared cinematic universe firmly established itself as the biggest game in town a long time ago, with every new installment in the franchise destined for bumper box office business after Kevin Feige spent a dozen years building up audience goodwill, which means that Guardians of the Galaxy might always be regarded as the McU’s biggest ever gamble.

Chris Hemsworth must have loved throwing on the prosthetics to play Fat Thor in Avengers: Endgame, having spent the entirety of his time as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe getting himself into incredible physical shape. It takes a whole lot of dedication and twice as much effort to look like that, so it must have come as a relief that his contractually obligated shirtless scenes were of a very different nature.
Of course, with the fourth installment of his solo franchise set to start shooting early next year, the 37 year-old is back pumping iron with a vengeance, and posted a new workout photo that shows him in prime Asgardian form. The sheer size of the man didn’t go unnoticed by his Thor: Love and Thunder co-star Chris Pratt, either, who asked Hemsworth to kindly refrain from making him look bad.

Chris Pratt may have taken Hollywood by storm over the past few years, but he was a talented star long before he became a sexy superhero. He first hit the spotlight back in the early 2000s, making a name for himself on the small screen with roles on Everwood and The O.C.. For years, Chris cracked up Parks and Recreation fans with Andy Dwyer's antics, and he's become one of the biggest movie stars in the world thanks to the Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World franchises. Although his onscreen talents are certainly a reason to appreciate Chris Pratt, his real-life charisma definitely makes him one of the most lovable celebrities.

Parks and Recreation lasted seven seasons and wrapped itself up on its own terms. Few shows get to be so lucky. Ending in early 2015, the series now maintains a dedicated following and is one of those Netflix shows you can easily binge through…as long as you power through the first season or forget about it completely.
That first episode, airing on April 9, 2009, introduced us to a lot of the core characters who were maybe rough around the edges, but still acted true to what they would blossom to be when the show hit its stride. Leslie Knope was the overly-optimistic workaholic. Ann Perkins was equal parts delighted and annoyed by the strange world around her. Tom Haverford showed himself as a self-important douche with no passion for government work. Ron Swanson was a man’s man who hated the government despite being part of it. We even got introduced...

What’s 5,000 times better than “5,000 Candles in the Wind”? The “Parks and Recreation” cast reuniting to perform the show’s legendary tribute song.
Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman), Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) and the gang from Pawnee, Indiana’s Parks Department virtually assembled in character Thursday night for a re-creation special to raise money for Feeding America amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 30-minute episode featured plenty of callbacks and running jokes from the NBC sitcom, which ended in 2015, but no Pawnee get-together would be complete without a performance of “5,000 Candles in the Wind,” the anthem Andy wrote in honor of Li’l Sebastian, the town’s beloved miniature horse who died in Season 3.
