Walk the Moon, the Ohio pop-rock group behind the 2014 hit “Shut Up and Dance,” announced their “hibernation,” with singer Nicholas Petricca saying, “The time has come for us to take a good long break from touring and making records together.”
In a video shared on YouTube, Petricca suggested it was likely that the band would “reconvene” one day and that when it happens, it “will be a glorious day.” But, he added, “The truth is, we don’t know when that’s gonna be.”

Ahead of what would have been David Bowie’s 75th birthday, Spoon have shared their cover of the late icon’s “I Can’t Give Everything Away,” the closing track on Bowie’s final album Blackstar.
“’I Can’t Give Everything Away’ is a tune [keyboardist Alex Fischel] and I have been playing since we learned it for an acoustic and piano show in Mexico City in 2016,” Spoon’s Britt Daniel said in a statement. “It’s just a fantastic song, and as the last song on Bowie’s final album it doesn’t disappoint.

It’s always interesting to see how musicians got their start, but Captain Cuts may take the cake for the craziest start to a career of all-time. The group certainly aren’t rookies to the music game: you’ve probably heard of them whether you recognize the name or not. Over the past few years, the band has found success as solely a production trio responsible for producing tracks like Smallpools’ “Dreaming” and Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up And Dance,” but now the tables are turned to where they’re the main focus.
In an interview with Idolator, Captain Cuts explain that it all started when they were pitching a track that they wrote to Epic Records – instead of being told who a potential artist could be, they were handed a record deal, and their debut single, “Love Like We Used To,” was born. The track, which features vocalist Nateur,...

Steve Aoki has teamed up with bass music quartet Bad Royale to deliver a new remix of his recent single “Back 2 U.” The original version was released earlier in the year and featured Romanian producer Boehm and rock band Walk The Moon.
Steve Aoki and Bad Royale bring some dancehall influence to their “Back 2 U” remix, with reggae infused rhythms and uplfiting vibes throughout the verses. Things take a radical turn during the drops though, as the catchy melodies and jubilant vocals are traded in for pounding tribal percussion and wild elephant-like samples that push the energy to the limit. While the original version featured some tropical house influence and a mainstage friendly sound, the new remix is a pretty sharp contrast with its jungle terror styled drops and Caribbean vibes.
Steve Aoki‘s re-imagining of his own track is a worthy take on the original, bringing plenty of new elements to satisfy fans.

It never fails to amaze me how much a music video can change my perception of a track. I certainly did not have nice things to say about Steve Aoki and Boehm’s “Back 2 U” featuring Walk The Moon, but the colorful music video that was just uploaded to Ultra Music’s YouTube account manages to distract me from its riskless, Clear Channel-friendly execution.
Posterized cutouts of seemingly random people (with Aoki, Boehm and Walk The Moon included for good measure) are superimposed over colorful background patterns. Phone screens are the central theme of the video, and the viewer’s vantage point zooms into them to prompt each change of scenery.
Now that that’s over with, allow me to re-emphasize that Steve Aoki is everything wrong with dance music. Boehm and Walk The Moon are okay, I guess, but they should still be ashamed of themselves for acting as...

Ghostbusters Day will unite the mighty Houses of the Old Ghostbusters and the New. We've got exact details of how that will happen plus some info on the soundtrack including who is covering Ray Parker Jr.’s classic Ghostbusters theme. You may recall us reporting on the original film coming back to theaters for two different special events? Well, there's more planned, and I'm sure this won't be the last of it. The Ghostbusters casts will combine their comedy powers on Jimmy Kimmel Live June 8, reports USA Today. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts will rep for the original cast while Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will play for the new team. I'm sure the originals praising the new film on the show will get just as much vitriol as poor Aykroyd did recently. Mostly I'm just excited for Potts. "Seeing the original...

Oh boy, another Steve Aoki “collaboration.” The L.A.-based Edm superstar’s recent career seems to consist of little more than throwing cake and slapping his name on other artists’ tracks to cross-pollinate with each one’s fanbase, and his joint effort with Romanian DJ/producer Boehm titled “Back 2 U” featuring Walk The Moon is a prime example of that.
Does nobody else find it curious that every single time Aoki teams up with somebody, what they eventually turn out sounds like any of his collaborator’s other releases with no discernible input on his end? “Back 2 U” features the bouncy, melodic hallmarks of Boehm’s music in addition to rich instrumentals and vocals from Walk The Moon – but nothing that would signal Steve Aoki’s involvement other than his name in the listing.

As promised, Osheaga has dropped their 2016 lineup today, and they’ve assembled some of the biggest names in music for what’s sure to be an unforgettable 3-day festival.
For their 10th anniversary, the organizers have brought in Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey and Radiohead to act as the headliners, while Disclosure, Future, Flume, Mac Miller, Passenger, Walk The Moon and many, many more will support them.
Though there’s a much smaller Edm presence than last year, it’s still a strong lineup overall, and seeing as none of the headliners have played the fest before, it should be pretty exciting to see them make their Osheaga debuts.

2015 has been a huge year for Martin Garrix. Arguably the biggest of his career. He’s at the top of the dance music scene right now and things are only going to go up from here. So, it’s always nice to get a look behind the scenes of what goes on with the young producer when he’s off stage, and that’s exactly what The Martin Garrix Show provides.
Started earlier this year, we’ve already seen several episodes, with today bringing us the fourth. In it, we follow Garrix around Ibiza (as well as some other locations in Europe), where he spent most of his summer performing at his residency at Ushuaia. We also get to see him at October’s Ade, where the DJ Mag Top 100 was revealed.
Like previous instalments, the video is a welcome look into the DJ’s career and what goes on when he isn’t performing.

2015 has already been a densely packed year of massive collaborations for Martin Garrix, but it looks as though he’s about to add another to the list. A post to the website of L.A.-based Truth Studios has revealed that he came to the recording studio accompanied by Nicholas Petricca of Walk The Moon.
Cincinatti-based Walk The Moon gained notoriety for the massive success of “Shut Up And Dance” from their Talking Is Hard LP earlier in the year, but have yet to collaborate with electronic music artists in any significant capacity. According to Truth Studios’ post, the session consisted mostly of Garrix and Petricca brainstorming ideas with only base-level recordings made.
With Martin Garrix’s sound leaning more towards melody in recent months, Petrticca’s influence may well prove a worthwhile endeavor for both artists. While neither of them have publicly commented on their upcoming collaboration as of yet,...

Ice cream salesman Andy Taylor starts confectionary chaos among the X Factor judges on Saturday's show.
Clearly trying to woo Simon Cowell and company, Andy hands over some vanilla cones before belting out Walk the Moon's 'Shut Up and Dance'.
Andy's high energy manages to get the crowd going, but the judges themselves seem a bit more interested in slinging ice cream at one another.
Was Andy's sweet treat enough to win over Simon, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora?
Find out when The X Factor continues tomorrow (September 18) on ITV.

The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards kicked off in Los Angeles Sunday night, with Ms. Miley Cyrus on hand to host the wild festivities.
Miley didn't disappoint when it came to her always-entertaining brand of enthusiasm and her fashion picks -- the pop star rocked a variety of barely there ensembles, including a see-through number that had what appeared to be balloons pinned to it. Oh, and she also announced that she just dropped a free album. Surprise!
One of the other biggest moments of the night was when Nicki Minaj shocked the audience by opening the show with a special guest: Taylor Swift. The formerly twitter-feuding superstars appeared to bury their public bad blood with a duet. Good one!
Speaking of Tay, the "Blank Space" singer was the most nominated performer of the evening -- she was up for 10 moon men and ended up picking up Video of the Year.

For anyone that has taken the liberty of either following or creeping Veld’s Instagram page, it’s unlikely they could have missed the collective demand of unhappy attendees. Of Veld’s roughly 50,000 guests, at least 500 have taken to social media to continually voice their opinions.
Peppered with defamations towards the organizing team – Ink Entertainment – the unified ransom amongst irate fans is their entitlement to at least a partial refund; Veld festivalgoers showed up for two 12-hour days of music and received only a cumulative 18 hours. Though the final echoes of Veld 2015 ended on a bitter note, not everything about it was out-of-tune – if anyone besides me was sober enough to remember, Veld 2015 had its moments.
Arriving just in time for a hard-hitting afternoon set by none other than The Chainsmokers, the media entrance to the grounds immediately thrust me stage right into a crowd already almost halfway through a weekend of getting weird.

So I definitely ticked one of my life boxes this week by spending some time with the legendary Mr Samuel L Jackson. Big Sam was in town promoting a charity that he's an ambassador for called One For The Boys - a men's cancer charity highlighting the importance of checking yourself.
On Friday, my wife Rochelle and I were invited to see Take That on tour. You know what? You have to hand it to Gary, Mark and Howard, they really know how to put on a show - or should I say a spectacle. Also, you know you have had some serious hits when a show that is over two hours long just flies by. Big shout out to Gary for inviting us down, we absolutely loved it, top man!
Sunday it was of course all about the Vodafone Big Top 40. All eyes once again were on the number one spot.
