Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman made her debut in the Dcu in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and made a great impression on audiences. They loved Gadot’s charm and ease with which she portrayed the character. Her solo film in 2017 further proved that she was not a fluke and was born to play the character.

However, audiences did not enjoy 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984, and it seriously affected the reputation of the character. With James Gunn taking over the brand, the character was excluded from his plans for his new Dcu. Gadot’s co-star from Wonder Woman 1984 is lamenting the decision and questions the new Dcu for not recognizing Wonder Woman’s immense potential.

Damsel is the latest fantasy film to be framed and sold as a deliberate subversion of typical fantasy tropes. While the traditional “prince saves the damsel in distress” fairy tale narrative hasn’t been common in fantasy for at least two decades at this point, the concept is so pervasive in popular culture that flipping it on its head has become just as, if not more, pervasive.
This most recent flipping aims to differentiate itself from other modern fantasy by combining the fairy tale approach with a darker Game of Thrones style tone. While the narrative is fairly simplistic, it still tackles very heavy material and does not shy away from the brutality and darkness of it all. And with the aid of a great lead in Millie Bobby Brown, it mostly succeeds.

Gal Gadot has welcomed a baby girl — for the fourth time. The actress made a surprise announcement on social media Wednesday, revealing that she had given birth, though it was not widely known that the Wonder Woman star was even pregnant.
“My sweet girl, welcome,” Gadot, 38, shared on Instagram and Facebook. “The pregnancy was not easy and we made it through. You have brought so much light into our lives, living up to your name, Ori, which means ‘my light’ in Hebrew. Our hearts are full of gratitude. Welcome to the house of girls. Daddy is pretty cool too.”

Rachel Zegler opened up for the first time during a discussion for Variety’s “Actors on Actors,” presented by “Air,” about what it was like working with CGI characters on the set of Disney’s upcoming live-action “Snow White” movie. Zegler is starring as the iconic Disney princess in the film opposite Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. “500 Days of Summer” and “The Amazing Spider-Man” filmmaker Marc Webb directed the movie.
Back in October, Disney released a first-look image from the movie that featured Zegler as Snow White surrounded by the seven dwarves. The image confirmed that CGI was being used to bring the dwarves to life and not human actors, which led to a lot of divisive reactions on social media from Disney fans.

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses major plot points for “Wish,” currently playing in theaters.
Disney’s animated feature “Wish” features over 100 nods.
As the animation studio celebrates its centennial year, “Wish” pays homage to classic Disney films from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” to “Peter Pan,” “Sleeping Beauty” and more. Speaking with Variety, director Chris Buck explained they are “Disney nods” rather than easter eggs.
“We wanted to get the story to work first,” Buck says. “Once we had that, and we started going into production, we could start layering in all the nods.”
It wasn’t just fellow director Fawn Veerasunthorn and writer and Disney Animation chief creative officer Jennifer Lee helping to incorporate them. According to Buck, “every artist and every department was saying, ‘What if we tried this?'”

Mere mortals have been fascinated by witchcraft for hundreds of years, and the film industry has taken note, with witch-themed movies going back more than 100 years.
In 1922, the silent partly documentary-style Swedish film “Haxan” sought to understand the roots and misunderstandings of witchcraft, and the mania that surrounded the witch hunts. Controversial at the time, it is now considered one of the most influential of the early horror films. The first look of the upcoming live-action remake of ‘Snow White’ has been unveiled. In a new image, Rachel Zegler has transformed into the iconic Disney Princess, surrounded by her Seven Dwarfs.
As of now, the film, which was originally set to open on March 22, 2024, has been delayed to March 21, 2025, reports Variety.
Zegler stars as Snow White and Gal Gadot plays The Evil Queen. Ansu Kabia co-stars as the Huntsman and Andrew Burnap plays a new character named Jonathan.
As per Variety, the Seven Dwarfs have been reimagined for the remake, and Zegler has said that this new iteration will not be as focused on the romantic subplot but instead will show Snow White becoming the leader her father encouraged her to be.
The reimagined storyline and Zegler’s casting — she will be the first Latina to play Snow White — have generated some online criticism for veering from the source material.

Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs certainly seems to have struck a nerve for some people, and I doubt the first-look image is going to change anyone’s mind.
The studio announced this morning that the release of Snow White had been pushed from March 22, 2024, to March 21, 2025, but they also released a new image featuring Rachel Zegler’s Snow White surrounded by the Seven Dwarfs. Unfortunately, the characters look as though they’ve been dragged from the uncanny valley kicking and screaming. Check it out below.
That’s some Polar Express shit right here. The reveal of the characters may also come as a surprise to some as Disney had implied that they would be taking a different approach with the Dwarves after Peter Dinklage slammed the remake last year.

Disney's streak of live-action remakes continues, and one we're looking forward to is the upcoming film "Snow White," a revival of 1937's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." The original "Snow White" was Disney's first animated feature film and, adjusted for inflation, is one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time. The new version stars Rachel Zegler as the titular heroine, with Gal Gadot joining her as the Evil Queen intent on being the fairest of them all.
The movie is directed by Marc Webb and wrapped filming in the summer of 2022, though Walt Disney Studios revealed on Oct. 27 that fans will have to wait until 2025 to see it. Besides that, not a whole lot is known about the film, though the team behind it have teased that there will be some pretty big differences between the original and the new one.

Disney has unveiled a first look photo for its live-action Snow White movie, which this afternoon pushed back its release date from March 22, 2024 to March 21, 2025, amidst the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
Rachel Zegler plays the title character in the new take on Disney’s 1937 animated classic, a work foundational to the studio’s empire that was itself based on a 19th century fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm. The story, of course, follows a princess who is rescued by seven dwarf miners who make Snow White part of their household after she’s exiled into a dangerous forest by her wicked stepmother.
Check out the new still from Disney’s Snow White, featuring Zegler’s princess opposite dwarves Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy, below.
Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) directed from a script by Barbie‘s Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, with Marc Platt producing.

Disney has revealed a first look at its Snow White live-action remake starring Rachel Zegler alongside news that the movie has been pushed back to 2025.
In the new image, Zegler’s Snow White is surrounded by animated versions of Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy. Check it out below.
Early on in the production of the film — officially titled Disney’s Snow White — Peter Dinklage criticized Disney for “still making that fucking backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together.” Disney responded by saying the movie would take “a different approach with these seven characters” and later announced that they would be reimagined as “magical creatures.”
Later on, photos from the set leaked online and fueled rumors that Snow White’s companions would be portrayed as more human-like with differing sizes, ethnicities, and genders. Now, we know that Disney has decided to go the animated route.

Conservative media company The Daily Wire announced it is making a live-action Snow White movie following right-wing backlash over Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White.

Marc Webb, best known for helming The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, has signed on to direct the long-in-development Bermuda Triangle movie at Skydance Media.
The Bermuda Triangle is a region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft and ships have disappeared under mysterious circumstances over the centuries. The theories behind these disappearances range from plausible explanations, such as extreme weather and currents, to the paranormal, with everything from UFOs to parallel universes to technology from the lost city of Atlantis taking the blame. Plenty of possibilities for a movie.
The Bermuda Triangle movie has been in development at Skydance for quite some time, with Sam Raimi and Scott Derrickson both attached to direct the project at various points. However, it seems that the project has gone back to square one. Deadline reports the project is still in the early stages with no writer attached.

Disney’s live-action remake of 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs doesn’t come out until next year, but a culture war surrounding the film — titled Snow White — is already at full boil.
First, conservative critics took issue with casting of Latina star Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) as a character described in the original Brothers Grimm story as having “skin as white as snow,” and the production changing the formerly titular seven dwarfs into a diverse collection of magical creatures of varying sizes and genders.
Then 22-year-old Zegler caused a stir when a flurry of comments from late last year recently resurfaced that suggested she didn’t like the original film and that the new movie would take a very different approach to the iconic character.
“She’s not going to be dreaming about true love,” Zegler told Variety in September. “She’s dreaming about becoming the leader...

“Wonder Woman” actress Gal Gadot is currently filming a role in the live-action Snow White movie for Disney. Gadot recently revealed to GQ that, for the first time in a long time, she had to earn her part with an audition — but for good reason.
As she said, “It was the first time I had to kind of audition for a project in a while. They needed to make sure I can sing, because this is a musical.”
Gadot spent weeks preparing for the audition. She added, “So, for a month, I was working on the song, and then I auditioned. And we filmed the song, and I got the part, and it was very exciting.”
GQ isn’t the only outlet Gadot has been speaking to about the movie, set to be released in March 2024. In an interview with People, Gadot said that her middle child was hoping she...

Not so fast, Wonder Woman.
Despite Gal Gadot’s recent claims that she’d be back at DC with “Wonder Woman 3,” Variety has shared that a new entry in the superhero saga is not in the works at the studio under DC co-CEOs Peter Safran and James Gunn. Per the report, there are no plans right now to develop another “Wonder Woman” movie as part of the new order of the DC Universe. Gadot previously starred as Amazon princess Diana in Patty Jenkins’ 2017 blockbuster — which grossed more than $821 million worldwide — and the same director’s more cooly received sequel “Wonder Woman 1984.” That follow-up film, after much release date shuffling amid the pandemic, dropped December 15, 2020 day-and-date in theaters and on HBO Max and failed to recoup its budget. The circumstances were, of course, against it.

If there was ever a match made in heaven, it was Guillermo del Toro and Disney's "The Haunted Mansion." Del Toro is a monster kid through and through. His fascination with the macabre has deep literary and cinematic roots, to be sure. He can break down the gothic artistry of Mary Shelley's writing or grapple with the problematic side of H.P. Lovecraft with as much intelligence and passion as the most respected college professor.
But del Toro's passion for genre goes way beyond the intellectual. It's his whole heart, which you can see in everything he's ever produced. He has a childlike love of ghosts and monsters and anything spooky, so of course he was the right person for Disney to hire to try to make a real version of "The Haunted Mansion" back in 2010.
His particular adaptation had a long history of stops and starts before he eventually departed the project,...

I can’t say I ever would have expected to hear that Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson would direct a live-action/hybrid reimagining of The Aristocats for Disney, but here we are. Deadline reports that Questlove will be getting behind the camera for The Aristocats, which was first revealed more than a year ago.
The original 1970 movie revolved around a family of Parisian felines who discover that they’re set to inherit a fortune from their owner. But when a jealous butler kidnaps them and leaves them in the country, they must find their way back home with the help of a smooth-talking tomcat. Will Gluck (Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway) and Keith Bunin (Onward) are set to pen the script for the live-action adaptation of The Aristocats, with Gluck also producing through his Olive Bridge Entertainment banner. In addition to directing The Aristocats, Questlove will also executive produce the project as well as oversee the music.

Sofia Carson’s journey to the Oscar stage is an unusual one: The 29-year-old singer, songwriter and actress had her start guest starring on Disney Channel shows before breaking into film as the daughter of the Evil Queen (of Snow White infamy) in the network’s original movie Descendants. From there, she acted and created original music for the Netflix drama Purple Hearts. Now, she’s the vocalist behind Diane Warren’s Oscar-nominated track “Applause” from the anthology film Tell It Like a Woman, composed of seven short stories centered on female protagonists. “I still pinch myself about the very real reality that I am talking about the Oscars,” she says of being asked to sing at the ceremony, “and that Lady Gaga and Rihanna will also be performing on the same stage.” For the rendition, Warren will join Carson onstage, the first time the writer has performed at the Oscars,...

Disney is currently hard at work remaking pretty much every single successful animated feature into a live-action version, and they've finally returned to the film where it all began: "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." The upcoming film from "The Amazing Spider-Man" director Mark Webb will expand on the 1937 animated classic and will star Rachel Zegler ("West Side Story") as the title character. Starring opposite Zegler is Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, as the Evil Queen. As a part of Disney's D23 celebrations, Gadot and Zegler stepped out on the stage in Anaheim, California to share a brief clip from the film and their excitement about bringing this magical movie to life.

“It was very different from...

The Star Trek: Strange New Worlds review contains spoilers.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Episode 8
One of the downsides of our current era of Peak Prestige TV is the assumption that, in order to be good, something must also be deadly serious. This seems to be doubly true if we’re talking about a genre property, which these days tend to be peppered with bleak, grimdark depictions of authoritarian military regimes, insidious robot overlords, or widespread climate disasters. Even Star Trek hasn’t been immune to this trend in recent years—both Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard have certainly shown us futures that don’t always entirely feel compatible with the more lighthearted optimism of Gene Roddenberry’s original vision for the franchise.
Thank goodness (as usual!) for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. As an episode, “The Elysian Kingdom” is a bittersweet tragedy, as well as an hour...

Guy Ritchie has boarded Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Hercules.
Ritchie will direct the remake based on the 1997 film, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Ritchie previously directed Disney’s 2019 live-action Aladdin, which crossed the 1 billion mark at the global box office.
Dave Callaham, who wrote Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, penned a first draft of the script. The studio is currently in the process of searching for writers for the project.
Joe and Anthony Russo, the filmmakers behind Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War, are set to produce the film via their Agbo banner.
The original 1997 film, directed by Ron Clements and Jon Musker, offered a musical retelling of the Greek legend in which the hero must save Olympus from God of the Underworld, Hades. Tate Donovan voiced Hercules, while James Woods voiced Hades. It is unclear whether...

Exclusive: I’m hearing from sources that Universal is circling Cleopatra, the Gal Gadot epic which was set up at Paramount with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier EP/director Kari Skogland helming the project.
While interested in the project still, Paramount was not prepared to meet the timeline that the creative elements necessitated.
Deadline first told you about the project being set up at Paramount with Gadot, Jenkins and Skogland. No deals are in place at Universal.
The package is produced by Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven, Gal Gadot and her Pilot Wave Motion Pictures partner Jaron Varsano. Laeta Kalogridis wrote the screenplay and is serving as EP. Wonder Woman filmmaker Patty Jenkins is also an EP.
Uni’s potential interest here is no coincidence given how Roven is currently working with the studio on the Christopher Nolan WWII feature, Oppenheimer.
