Kaela Waldstein is a multiple-award winning filmmaker that specializes in the production of short documentaries with a focus on Arts and Culture. Her films are of high production value with emotional resonance, and a strong human element. She sees her role as one of service, helping to distill and elevate the voices of artists and do justice to their craft. She leads all aspects of production, including concept development, cinematography, on-site sound, editing, color grading, and motion graphics; however, she sees each of her films as a collaboration with those she is filming.
Kaela's work has collectively garnered over 20 awards, including 5 regional Emmys. Notable accomplishments include having her work featured at the Smithsonian Renwick Gallery, where it accompanied the work of 6 Native American and Alaska Native artists for the 2023-2024 exhibition "Sharing Honors and Burdens." Her 2022 documentary "Cara Romero: Following the Light" received national distribution through PBS. She works full time as a filmmaker with her full-service video production company Mountain Mover Media, and also offer cinematography services to other producers. She is based in Santa Fe, NM.
