A New Jersey native, Alex Cap is a media composer with a background as a classical pianist. Past works include VR film From Sea to Rising Sea, Christmas rom-com Holly Star, short animated fantasy Young Alchemist, short drama Silence (official selection of Festival International du Film Panafricain de Cannes), documentary Capoeira in Our Lives, vertical shooter Task Attack (Android/iOS, praised by TouchArcade and AppAdvice), action adventure game Blindsight: War of the Wardens (PC), puzzle game Bloobo (iOS), adventure game That's Not How It Happened (PC/Mac), narrative platformer Social Moth (PC/Mac), and action adventure game Spookulele (PC/Mac).
In July 2016, Cap drove solo cross-country to attend USC's one-year Master of Music in Screen Scoring program at the Thornton School of Music, where he received the Betty Rose Collaboration Award and was selected for a mentorship with James Newton Howard (The Dark Knight, King Kong (2005), Signs). He studied piano under Tomoko Kanamaru at the College of New Jersey where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. In between undergraduate and graduate school, he freelanced as a pianist, composer, and arranger and studied composition with Ken Lampl (Frontera, Kandisha).
