"You can still find her, there is still time…" 1091 Pictures has debuted the trailer for a trippy, mesmerizing band film titled Vide Noir - which is the French phrase for "black void". After finishing their tour for their third studio album "Vide Noir", Lord Huron created this psychedelic new film to go along with the music. This "cinematic album" is a neo-noir mystery film set in the 1960s in Los Angeles. Lord Huron is scoring the film with new versions of their songs. The mysterious film focuses on Victor Mascitelli as Buck Vernon, who goes looking for his missing fiancée Lee, after she left Detroit for what Vernon assumes to be her wild pursuit out west to become a singer. But his strange, surreal encounters -- which take him from a fortune teller's parlor to a dark, broody forest -- leads him to a new drug infiltrating town and...

While Grammy nominations usually include many commercial picks, the awards pride themselves on being decided by music industry peers judging quality over popularity, even banning chart-related messages in FYC ads recently. So we often can expect a couple of critical darlings to get nominated across genres and sometimes even in the general field. Nominations this past year for Haim’s “Women In Music Pt. III” in Album of the Year and Phoebe Bridgers in Best New Artist are examples of how far acclaim can take you at the Grammys. Granted, we don’t know how this will hold up with no more nomination review committees giving a boost to lower-profile acts. Nonetheless, there are a lot of lauded artists who might surprise us this year.

It’s been over two years since Billie Eilish released her chart-dominating debut, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and fans have, seemingly, been getting impatient. 13 Reasons Why is officially coming to an end next month. On Monday, Netflix announced that the show's fourth and final season will premiere on June 5. In an emotional goodbye video, which is set to "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron, we get glimpses of the cast tearfully hugging each other during one of their final table reads as well as clips of them filming at Liberty High. "I will never forget this experience for the rest of my life," Alisha Boe says in the video.
The video also included a few spoilers as Justin Prentice (who plays Bryce) was spotted with the rest of the cast during the table read. As fans will recall, his character was murdered last season, so we're definitely curious to see how the show brings him back. Perhaps in flashbacks or as a ghost? Does this mean we'll also see Hannah Baker again? We...

“What do you prefer?/I don’t have that much to offer,” Webster sings in the clip, laying in a bed of vibrant flowers. The floral theme is consistent throughout the video: Webster attempts to put a flower puzzle together, she puts a floral stick-on tattoo on Father, and so on. “Can you just give me all of your time?/I’m gonna try to give you mine.

After the release of Lord Huron’s acclaimed third album Vide Noir, the Los Angeles-based indie rock band took a few steps back during a session at Spotify Studios to cover a formative influence: Neil Young. For singer Ben Schneider, Young was a “perennial presence” growing up since his parents were fans. But when “Harvest Moon” came out in 1992 followed by the unplugged version in 1993, those records had a formative influence on Schneider. He was only nine year sold, but old enough to appreciate the Godfather of Grunge in his own way.

The 13 Reasons Why's season one soundtrack is a brilliant collection of songs, but there's one track in particular that will haunt you. It plays several times when the show flashes back to the school dance, as Clay (Dylan Minnette) and Hannah (Katherine Langford) dance together. It's called "The Night We Met," and it's off Lord Huron's 2015 album Strange Trails.
The melody is beautifully melancholic, and it's even more poignant when you consider the lyrics: "Take me back to the night we met / I don't know what I'm supposed to do / Haunted by the ghost of you / Take me back to the night we met / When the night was full of terrors / And your eyes were filled with tears / When you had not touched me yet / Take me back to the night we met."

13 Reasons Why Season 2 is in the can, and there's no denying that it was a major misstep for the series.
With meandering storylines that served very little purpose to the overall arc, it was a hot mess.
Check out our report card for 13 Reasons Why Season 2 below!
1. Best Character Justin is probably the most fleshed out character on the entire series. His storyline was heartbreaking right back to his younger days. With his mother being on drugs, he missed out on the childhood kids are entitled to. He made a lot of mistakes, for sure, and that's why he ran away. He did the only thing he could do to cope, and it turned out that he was reliant on drugs, much like his mother. All he wanted was to be a part of a family that cared for him, and it looks like he's going to get that living with the Jensens.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “13 Reasons Why” Season 2, including the finale.]
In the second season of “13 Reasons Why,” Tony (Christian Navarro) may have wanted to criticize the DJ at the Spring Fling, but we had no complaints about what we heard. Just like the Netflix series’ first outing, this season’s big dance included tracks that alternately made us want to dance, bang our heads, cry, or hug someone we loved.
In fact, all the songs this year lived up to the selection from last year. Whether you’re riding around town on your bike, in your sensible Prius, or in a vintage Mustang, these tunes are the perfect accompaniment for eating up the miles. The soundtrack provides a range of pop and rock with indie, electronic, synth, Latin, and British roots and influences.

Songs For Screens is a Variety column sponsored by music experiential agency Mac Presents, based in NYC. It is written by Andrew Hampp, founder of music marketing consultancy 1803 LLC and former correspondent for Billboard. Each week, the column will highlight noteworthy use of music in advertising and marketing campaigns, as well as new and catalog songs that we deem ripe for synch use.
In its first season, Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why” pulled off what few TV shows have done in recent years by sending an indie-rock band into the mainstream with the single use of one of its songs.
Lord Huron, whose song “The Night We Met” was featured in a climactic mid-season Winter Formal sequence during Season 1, suddenly found themselves on the Hot 100 and in the top 5 of Billboard’s Hot Rock Songs chart with a two-year-old single from their 2015 album “Strange Trails.” The track was eventually certified platinum,...

Music makes such a huge difference when it comes to enjoying TV’s top shows, on a level that goes well beyond a theme song. Great composers create an aural language that’s as tangible and essential as the actors or sets on screen, aided by music supervisors who discover undiscovered tracks as well as essential classic gems —without which the show’s most powerful moments would have no impact.
Even the Television Academy agrees: For this first time, this year the Emmy Awards handed out a prize for outstanding music supervision. Susan Jacobs won the award for the “Big Little Lies” episode “You Get What You Need.”
There were so many shows that changed the way music was used on television this year — whether it was Tom Petty’s “American Girl” becoming a shout of protest, an obscure Elvis Presley cover becoming one of our favorite tunes of the year,...
