(Toronto, On – October 12, 2023) Today, Nigerian born, Los Angeles-based artist TOBi delivers his bold new album Panic via RCA Records. Out now, the soulful, funkafied 12-track project further cements TOBi as a chilling storyteller with cleverly-written and tightly-woven bars as he continues to take us through pivotal moments in his life’s journey, but where TOBi becomes taciturn on certain tracks, the fullness of the production, instruments and layered harmonies, convey what’s left unspoken.

TOBi on Panic: “Panic is the epitome of unapologetic soul music and we held nothing back, which I am truly proud of. From the stories of vulnerability, masculinity, personal family issues, social commentary, there was no stone left unturned here. Even though MCU’s television schedule was recently reshuffled, with many upcoming series delayed, and some of them even indefinitely, we still have a handful of MCU content to watch by the end of this year. Apart from ‘Loki’ Season 2, which starts in October, and ‘The Marvels,’ which opens in theaters in November, MCU fans will get to watch the second season of ‘I Am Groot,’ a series of shorts that premiered last year. Everyone’s favorite tree, voiced by Vin Diesel, returns with another five episodes.
Vin Diesel debuted as Groot in 2014’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ written and directed by James Gunn. After the original Groot was killed off in the movie, he was succeeded by Baby Groot, who appeared only in 2017’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,’ before teenage Groot came onto a scene in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ a year later. However, only that one appearance...

Joe Jonas paid tribute to one of his fellow early-aughts Disney Channel legends, Hilary Duff, with Dnce sharing a cover of the actress/singer’s 2004 hit, “Come Clean.”
The performance was about as unplugged as you can get, with guitarist JinJoo Lee strumming an acoustic guitar and drummer Jack Lawless using jazz brushes to keep an incredibly inventive beat on a tissue box. Meanwhile, Jonas uses his phone as a makeshift microphone, leaping into his falsetto to hit all the classic high notes on the “Come Clean” chorus.

Early last year, Joe Jonas was in Savannah, Georgia, filming the Korean War-set film Devotion when he had a burst of another kind of creativity. “I felt so inspired by what a beautiful city I was in and some of the music I heard when I was there,” Jonas tells Rolling Stone. He began writing new material over Zoom with collaborators like Ryan Tedder, Jason Evigan, Mike Elizondo, and Mikky Ekko. Eventually he had written nearly an album, one he felt fit the raucous nature of Dnce.

We’ve been waiting for a new collection ever since, but while we wait, let’s count down the best songs of her career as a lead artist. Wednesday was a big day in Masked Singer-land: Not only did the semifinals mark the exit of three Season 4 competitors, but an early renewal ensured that Ken Jeong will be dropping it like it’s hot for many more episodes to come!
In other news, the two-hour broadcast gifted us with one of the most ridiculous lines I’ve heard uttered on TV this year, courtesy of guest judge Craig Robinson, who’ll host The Masked Dancer when it gets underway in December. Cedrice, one of the favorites on “The Voice” Season 18, was dealt a huge blow during Monday’s final battle episode when her coach John Legend pit her against powerhouse singer Thunderstorm Artis. Both artists had a realistic shot of making it to the finale, so did Legend goof by pairing them up against each other, thereby risking losing one of them? Luckily for Cedrice, rival coach Blake Shelton used his steal on her after Legend eliminated her and kept Thunderstorm. Kelly Clarkson and Nick Jonas then congratulated Shelton on his decision in a rare show of unity from the competitive judges. Watch the haunting cover of “Stay” by Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko above.

Mikky Ekko provides the music for an aspiring star’s tantrum in the new video for “Fame,” the title-track off the singer-songwriter’s latest album. “Fame” is a tender piano ballad that tackles the pitfalls of celebrity with humor and grace, and it provides the perfect soundtrack to the video, which centers around a young performer in drag auditioning for a role. The audition gets off to a peculiar start as the performer moves through a surreal dance, but a madness soon sets in as the performer begins crawling over...

On the April 16 episode of “American Idol,” Ryan Seacrest revealed that only seven of the dozen singers were moving on to the live shows. This meant that five contestants in Group 2 of the Top 24 saw their dreams of winning season 16 end. Which of these artists do you think was wrongly eliminated and was most deserving of a place in the Top 14? Vote in our poll below and then sound off in the comments section.
In episodes taped weeks ago, the remaining two dozen artists from the Top 50 had been split into two groups. The revival of “American Idol” on ABC is following the same format that worked so well for 15 seasons on Fox. This new season 16, which is also hosted by Ryan Seacrest, has moved on to the Top 24. They now compete to make the cut and get a chance to sing on the first live show on April 22. You’ve seen Phantom Thread, perhaps multiple times. You’ve been playing Jonny Greenwood’s score on repeat. And now you’re wondering what to do until the Blu-ray arrives this April. Well, Paul Thomas Anderson has you covered. In special screenings around the country, you might have heard a few songs play before the film begins, and now Tiff has revealed those were hand-selected by the director for a special pre-viewing playlist.
They’ve now revealed the full list of songs, clocking in at 23 and ranging from Beyoncé to Bruce Springsteen to Rihanna to Neil Young to Carly Simon and far beyond. Of course, there’s also some Bernard Herrmann thrown in for good measure. Ahead of 70mm screenings at the Tiff Bell Lightbox starting Friday, they’ve collected the tracks into a Spotify list, which can be listened to below, followed by a round-up of recent extensive Phantom Thread talks with its creators.

Paul Thomas Anderson is here to help you set the mood before your “Phantom Thread” viewing. While Jonny Greenwood’s Oscar-nominated score is well worth numerous streams, the director has curated his own mixtape of 23 songs he suggests you listen to before watching his romance drama. Anderson shared the playlist with Tiff., All 70mm screenings of “Phantom Thread” at the Tiff Bell Lightbox theater will play the songs before showtime.
The mixtape is pretty incredible on its own, featuring hits from Beyoncé, Rihanna, Carly Simon, Neil Young, and more, but it’s even better for those who have seen “Phantom Thread” and understand the relationship between Daniel Day-Lewis’ Reynolds Woodcock and Vicky Krieps’ Alma. Rihanna’s “Stay” is especially appropriate for the two lovers.
The full “Phantom Thread” playlist is below, courtesy of Tiff. The film is up for six Oscars at the Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

English duo Gorgon City have released a new single today, teaming up with rapper Tink and singer Mikky Ekko for a track titled “Impaired,” which sees Gorgon City emphasizing the vocal collaborators while putting their top notch musicality on full display.
“Impaired” is a slow burner of a downtempo track, opening with the mellow tones of a somber synthesizer progression and dark atmospherics. Gorgon City take their time building the song up, letting its quiet intro linger on past the one minute mark before mixing in percussive elements. Eschewing complex sound design, “Impaired” lets the dancefloor energy take a back seat to Tink’s rap verses and Mikky Ekko’s ghostly pitched down vocals, as clanky drums and buzzing synths drone on in the background.
With a focus on mood and texture, Gorgon City craft “Impaired” into an emotive electronic ballad that stands out as a memorable single against the bulk of their work.

On Sunday afternoon, shortly after it was announced that MTV would air a 15-second PSA about the recent protests in Ferguson, Missouri, I watched all six of the videos nominated for what seemed to me at the time to be the show’s most laughable category, Best Video With a Social Message. Among the contenders were Avicii’s maudlin anti-war clip “Hey Brother,” David Guetta and Mikky Ekko’s typhoon-relief single “One Voice,” Kelly Rowland’s “Dirty Laundry” (a candid song about domestic abuse that’s too often been misinterpreted as a Beyoncé dis track), and J. Cole’s “Crooked Smile,” for which the video tells the story of Aiyana Jones, a 7-year-old girl from Detroit who was accidentally killed by a police officer during a drug raid in her home.
