Welcome back to another review of Aew Dark: Elevation, which features seven matches on the card once again. We’ve got regulars Paul Wight and Matt Menard on commentary as usual. So let’s get into the review!
Match #1: Emi Sakura def. Rachelle Riveter
My Thoughts: Nice to see Emi Sakura Open an episode of Elevation, though as usual she’s squashing her opponent. Well I say this is a squash, but this is the trademark-pending “Aew quasi-squash”, with Sakura giving Rachelle Riveter just enough space to get some offence in and not look totally weak. Which, if I’m honest, is always a trait of Sakura’s matches – she allows her opponent, no matter who it is, to show off their skills. Unlike some other people on the roster!
My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #2: The Kingdom (Mike Bennett and Matt Taven) def. Ej Sparks and Aguila Aguirre...

It’s time for this week’s review of Aew: Dark, which like last week features a mere 6 matches. But it’s a Stacked set of matches with some of Aew’s biggest names making an appearance on the show this week – And we’ve got a live paying and excited crowd (this was taped at the same time as Battle of the Belts 2 apparently). Let’s get into it!
Match #1: Toni Storm def. Gigi Rey
My Thoughts: Great to see Toni Storm open an episode of Dark, made the entire show feel more like a big deal. As did the appearance of Jamie Hayter on commentary for this match, really building towards the duo’s upcoming match against each other. Hayter, as I’ve said to people plenty of times before, needs more time on the mic – she has shown more personality in her appearance on Ethan Page...

It’s time for this week’s review of Aew: Dark, which once again comes from Aew: Universal. I’m always surprised by how much difference there is between Aew’s smaller Universal Studios audience and Impact’s small weekly audience. Aew still seem to make it sound like the crowd is into the action even when they’re quiet.
Match #1: Lee Johnson vs. Darian Bengston
My Thoughts: This was decidedly average. The only thing that stood out about this match was the fact the crowd were behind Darian Bengston more than they were Lee Johnson. Maybe Big Shotty needs a reboot to get over with the fans?
My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #2: Sonny Kiss def. Ashton Starr
My Thoughts: This was an example of the Aew quasi-squash match, with Starr given just enough offence to not make this a complete squash match for Sonny Kiss. Speaking of which,...

Stars: Danielle Kamela, Greg Maness, Rikishi, Reno Anoai, Gary Shergill, Marcus Nel-Jamal Hamm, Wendell Coley, Anthony Bear Williams, Jezette Marie, Kaleti Williams, Adam Sparn | Written and Directed by Stefano Milla
Originally released in 2017, Kingdom of Gladiators: The Tournament is in fact a sequel to the little seen 2011 original (which surprisingly got a UK DVD release by Kaleidoscope that same year) also written and directed by Stefano Milla – a filmmaker who seems to specialise in low-budget peplum-style movies and historical “epics”. And if this film is anything to go by, it seems Milla is picking up where the Italians left off, at least in terms of sword and sandal adventure, in the best way possible!
Kingdom of Gladiators: The Tournament tells the story a Templar Knight who is forced to fight as a gladiator where challengers from different worlds duel in a quest for a magical sword. Then the Templar learns...
