Game of Thrones star Kit Harington will return to the London stage in the upcoming production of Jeremy O. Harris’ acclaimed and controversial Slave Play.
Despite the star casting, Slave Play playwright Jeremy O. Harris assures audiences that Harington’s presence will not be a “distraction.”
In an interview with London’s The Guardian, Harris said Harington was emphatic that the ensemble piece not be turned into “the Jon Snow experience” (a reference to Harington’s character on Thrones).
“Kit was saying ‘I don’t want this to be Kit Harington in Slave Play, this is an ensemble play and I’m not even the lead,’” Harris told the newspaper. “He knows the weight his name carries and how that could become a distraction, if we allowed it to be.”

This article contains spoilers for Heartstopper season 2.
Netflix’s second season of Heartstopper is breaking viewership records for LGBTQ+ programming, transcending the typical queer audience it would be expected to garner. Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring’s (Joe Locke) deeply romantic teenage fling started to blossom into a real relationship in season 2, and with that development came discussions around coming out, eating disorders, communication, and sexual consent. The series has a unique way of painting every scenario gold that could possibly trouble its characters.
Heartstopper’s eternal queer ecstasy is an absolute Godsend for the LGBTQ+ community, allowing young viewers to see a bright light of possibility and potential for their adolescent romantic prospects and on into adulthood. In a world with so much darkness and depression, having this type of upbeat version of living queer is undeniably vital. This positivity has an odd way of making LGBTQ...

The trouble with most shows about teenagers is that while they can be entertaining, the storylines are often farfetched and absurd. In media, depictions of teens are adultified so much that the resulting characters are far removed from real-life adolescents’ daily lives and experiences. With “Heartstopper,” based on the graphic novel and comic of the same name, creator Alice Oseman proves that she recalls the uniqueness and singularity of teenhood. The U.K.-set Netflix series is one of the purest, most vividly accurate TV depictions of what it means to be a teen.
The first season of “Heartstopper” centered on the burgeoning relationship between Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a lanky, quiet student attending an all-boys school, and the magnetic Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), the captain of the school’s rugby team. Having endured abuse by his classmates because of his sexuality, and emotional turmoil from a closeted boy, Ben...

When "Heartstopper" hit Netflix earlier this year, it was nothing short of a phenomenon. The adorable, emotional teen romance was the title on everyone's lips for weeks after its first season debuted, so it was no surprise when it was renewed for more episodes just a month after it aired. But fans will still have to wait a while longer for the next chapter of the story of high schoolers Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor), as season 2 only recently entered production.
Still, even in the off-season, "Heartstopper" is worth celebrating. The show was just nominated for nine Emmys at the newly launched Children and Family Emmys Awards, an offshoot of the prestigious award show that's designed specifically to honor media aimed at kids and teens. Connor and Locke are among the nominees, along with their co-stars Yasmin Finney, William Gao, and Olivia Colman.

Starz has ordered a second season of “Dangerous Liaisons,” days ahead of its series premiere on Nov. 6.
Alice Englert (“The Power Of The Dog”) and Nicholas Denton (“Glitch”) play literary lovers-slash-enemies Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont. The series also stars Kosar Ali, Carice van Houten, Hilton Pelser, Fisayo Akinade, Michael McElhatton, Nathanael Saleh, Colette Dalal Tchantcho, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Tom Wlaschiha, and Paloma Faith.
Season 2 is expected to begin shooting in early 2023 in Prague, Czech Republic.

The production will be filmed at the Lyttelton Theatre building on London’s South Bank.
The UK’s National Theatre (Nt) is to make its first original film with a screen production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet starring Josh O’Connor and Jessie Buckley.
The production was first announced last year, intended for stage at the National Theatre’s Lyttelton theatre in London this summer.
That theatrical run was withdrawn due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the Nt has reimagined it as a 90-minute filmed version, directed by Nt associate Simon Godwin, and adapted for screen by Emily Burns.

Rehearsals will begin in November and filming in December. The production will bow on PBS in the U.S. and on Sky Arts in the U.K. in 2021.

Doctor Who‘s Peter Capaldi and Mark Gatiss were both last seen on the show back in 2017’s Christmas special “Twice Upon a Time,” but they’ll be teaming up again this yuletide for a chilling new ghost story.
Gatiss, who’s also the co-creator of Sherlock alongside former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat, has penned Martin’s Close, a 30-minute adaptation of a classic tale from Victorian horror author M.R. James that’s set to arrive on the BBC this December. James’ story is presented as a record of the trial of John Martin, a man accused of killing his lover, who may just be haunted by her vengeful spirit.
The Twelfth Doctor himself will feature in the cast as barrister Dolben. He’ll be joined by Wilf Scolding, Simon Williams, Sara Crowe, Fisayo Akinade and Elliot Levey. Martin’s Close follows on from 2018’s The Dead Room, an...

Peter Capaldi is to star in a Mark Gatiss-penned ghost story for the BBC. The Doctor Who star is to feature in Martin’s Close, an adaptation of the M.R. James story, for BBC Four alongside Wilf Scolding, Simon Williams, Sara Crowe, Fisayo Akinade and Elliot Levey.
Written by Doctor Who and Sherlock writer Gatiss, who also starred in Game of Thrones, the story follows the murder trial of John Martin. It is presented as a report of the trial in 1684, where Martin has been accused of murdering a young girl named Ann Clark, with whom he had a one-sided romance. The prosecution presents the case that Martin murdered Ann Clark, because she ruined a good marriage proposal for him. During the trial, an event is described in which Martin acted in a guilty manner when confronted with a possible apparition of the girl. In the end, Martin...

Three survivors of a tragedy at sea wash up on the shores of a mysterious island in this intelligent supernatural drama
The Isle is a well-made, forcefully acted film from director Matthew Butler-Hart; he has co-written the screenplay with his partner Tori Butler-Hart – who also acts in the movie – and together they have created an intriguing work, modestly and intelligently conceived, a supernatural melodrama characterised by an eerie sort of restraint. There are hints of Shakespeare and classical and Scots mythology.
It is the mid-19th century and three sailors, Oliver (Alex Hassell), Jim (Graham Butler) and Cailean (Fisayo Akinade) are the only survivors of a terrible wreck. On their leaky lifeboat they have somehow made it over to a mysterious island off the Scottish coast, where the inhabitants clearly have terrible secrets and are strangely unhelpful when it comes to getting these men back to the mainland. They are...

"This is a dead isle. We're only here because we've no choice." Great Point Media recently debuted the first official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled The Isle, set in 1846 on a remote island off the west coast of Scotland. Based loosely on Scottish ghostly folklore with inspiration from the Greek sirens, the film is about three survivors from a mysterious sinking of their merchant ship who find themselves stuck on a small isle, where the only inhabitants seem just as strange as the things that begin to happen. From director Matthew Butler-Hart, The Isle features Conleth Hill, Alex Hassell, Tori Butler-Hart, Fisayo Akinade, Alix Wilton Regan, Graham Butler, and Emma King. If you're in the mood for a misty, chilling Scottish isle supernatural horror, then this is just what you've been waiting to see. Looks like it has a few spooky scenes. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Matthew Butler-Hart's The Isle,...

In The Dark moves back to the big city for chapter two of its middling crime drama…
This review contains spoilers.

Goodbye Polesford and past trauma, hello Manchester and present day trauma. In The Dark has morphed into its second chapter, which doesn’t have much in common with its first. There’s not a mention of the historic child abuse case Di Helen Weeks reported at the end of the last episode, nor of that kidnapping murderer she cathartically stabbed in the heart. Weeks’ pregnancy aside, episode three could have aired a year apart from the previous instalment. Perhaps we’re best thinking of it as a sequel, series two in miniature.
