Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams reunite on “Entrepreneur,” which the pair released Thursday at midnight. The song is accompanied by a new music video that spotlights black men and women, including Tyler, the Creator and Issa Rae, who have started their own businesses.
“Entrepreneur” is “all about how tough it is to be an entrepreneur in our country to begin with,” Pharrell told Time. “Especially as someone of color, there [are] a lot of systemic disadvantages and purposeful blockages. How can you get a fire started, or even the hope of an ember to start a fire,...

Rosalía has released a new remix of her song “A Palé” by French producer Gesaffelstein.
The remix extends the two-and-a-half minute track by an extra 30 seconds and adds a creeping techno beat to the Spanish pop star’s breathy vocals, replacing the Atlanta trap beats and hand-clapping in the El Guincho and Frank Dukes-produced original.
Rosalía first released “A Palé” back in November, alongside a music video directed by Jora Frantzis. She debuted the song at the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas, where the Spanish singer-songwriter also won Album of the Year,...

Southern California transportation officials are working on a plan to use Amtrak trains to help to ease traffic gridlock to and from the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
The Riverside County Transportation Commission says it has received $8.6 million in funding for temporary train service that would run from Los Angeles to the city of Indio, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
The funding would include $5.9 million from the state, with another $2.7 coming from the county. The trains would pick passengers up at Union Station in downtown L.A. and travel about two hours to the Coachella Valley. Attendees would then board shuttle buses to the concert grounds.
The goal is to have the service ready for the 2020 Coachella and Stagecoach Country Music festivals.
This year’s Coachella fest is set to take place from April 12-14, and then return April 19-21, with Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and Ariana Grande announced as headliners.

A former soldier turned security guard struggles with his Ptsd when called upon to protect a shady businessman’s wife and child
Writer-director Alice Winocour has described this tense tale of a soldier back from Afghanistan serving as security detail in the home of a wealthy Lebanese businessman as a chance to make “a genre movie” in an “area usually strictly reserved for men”. Matthias Schoenaerts is the Ptsd-afflicted Vincent through whose paranoid eyes and hair-trigger responses we experience the unfolding narrative. Diane Kruger is the businessman’s trophy wife, left at home by her shifty husband in whose absence Vincent becomes her paid-for protector. With early hints of both Sliver and Someone to Watch Over Me, Disorder (originally entitled Maryland) develops into something more intriguing thanks in large measure to a brilliant expressionist soundtrack by Mike Lévy (aka Gesaffelstein), which does most of the heavy lifting when it comes...

French techno virtuoso Gesaffelstein has become a hot commodity over the past year or so not only due to his unique, avant-garde sound, but also his high-profile tie-ins – and his soundtrack for French film drama Maryland (which also goes by the title Disorder) will make for a novel means of putting his music in the ears of an even wider audience. After a momentous countdown, he’s released the first track from the effort in the form of “A Pledge.”
The track features Gesaffelstein’s distinctly French take on the less-is-more sensibilities of second-wave Detroit techno artists like Richie Hawtin. Sound design elements that are but a step up from midi quality tell a seven-minute story of serene dissonance, building to a suspenseful peak before feathering back down into the shadows.
The only shortcoming of the track is that it works a lot better in the context of a film...

Gesaffelstein, an anomaly to some, a genius to many, has unceremoniously begun a mysterious countdown on his website. As the timer rapidly ticks away, there are 62 days remaining at the time of writing. This schedules the unknown event for September, and fans have wasted no time speculating as to what will happen when it the timer hits zero.
After announcing his Coachella performance to be his “last live set,” many were only just coming to realize the brilliance of the acclaimed French producer, Mike Lévy. Since then, he has been keeping busy, collaborating with the legendary Jean-Michel Jarre and providing the score to Diane Kruger’s Disorder, but Lévy has yet to release any solo work under Gesaffelstein.
Shrouded in mystique, critics the world over have called Gesaffelstein’s live shows following Aleph to be one of the most precise executions in dance music history- and they wouldn’t be wrong.
