Exclusive: Amazon Studios has acquired Brian Otting’s script Never Too Old to Die as a starring vehicle for Sylvester Stallone, Deadline has learned.
The action comedy to be produced by Stallone and Braden Aftergood for Balboa Productions watches as a mysterious murder within a retirement home for spies sparks a Cold War hero’s personal mission to find the assassin living among them.
This will be the first project falling under Stallone and Balboa’s multi-year, first-look deal with Amazon Studios, which we were first to report on last week — an agreement that will have Stallone write, direct, produce and star in both scripted and unscripted projects for the studio, for film and TV. A director has not yet been attached.

Hulu has acquired the domestic rights to “Run,” a thriller from “Searching” director Aneesh Chaganty and starring Sarah Paulson, from Lionsgate after it was pulled from the theatrical release slate earlier this year.
“Run” was meant to open on May 8 but was pulled from the schedule. Hulu has not set a new release date as of yet. The film will still be released theatrically in select international markets.
Kiera Allen stars in “Run,” a rare thriller to feature a person who uses a wheelchair in the lead role. She performs alongside Paulson, a controlling mother who has an unnatural, even sinister relationship with her daughter that as a teenager she’s only beginning to grasp.

Exclusive: The CW has put in development Infamous, an action-drama from writers George Northy (Charmed) and Darren Stein (Jawbreaker), and Mike Tollin and his Tollin Productions.
Written by Northy and Stein, Infamous is a take on the thrilling spy drama with a modern, satirical celebrity twist. It is inspired by the true stories of world-famous actors, models and musicians who also happened to moonlight as spies for the Allied Forces in WWII, such as Greta Garbo, Hedy Lamarr and Josephine Baker just to name a few. In Infamous, celebrities who’ve experienced a devastating fall from grace are recruited by a top-secret arm of the CIA, with the promise to rehab their careers in exchange for using their global access (and eccentric reputations) to perform high-risk missions across the globe.
Tollin Productions’ VP Scripted Programming Maia Glikman is executive producing the project along with Mike Tollin.

Exclusive: You don’t see that many films acquired at Sundance getting sequels, but Sony’s Stage 6 Films is working on a second installment of Searching, the thriller about a father’s desperate search for his missing daughter that Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions bought for $5 million in a world rights deal and watched become a breakout hit that grossed $75 million worldwide. It was released by Sony’s Stage 6 Films and Screen Gems.
Directed by Aneesh Chaganty and starring John Cho and Debra Messing, the original cleverly turned the computer screen into a cinematic canvas as a father accustomed to parenting through iMessages and quick FaceTime chats, realizes his daughter has gone missing and uses the laptop she left behind to locate clues to find her before it is too late.
That film turned out to be the bargain of 2018 Sundance, much the same as the $6 million A24 acquisition The Farewell...
