Paradise City is a movie starring Bruce Willis, John Travolta and Stephen Dorff. It is directed by Chuck Russell.
A run-of-the-mill thriller that funnily enough, counts on some sequences and scenes that barely saves it from being a complete fiasco.
Premise
The renegade bounty hunter, Ryan Swan, has to pave his way into the Hawaiian criminal underworld to avenge his father’s murder.
Movie Review
Here we are offered an extremely irregular film, which at times comes across as a TV production, and at others surprises with good dialogues and photography. It combines simple and easy scenes with hackneyed plots that seem to have a failed ulterior motive, failed in the sense that they are diluted and disappear in what is a simple thriller, with a retro 90’s touch, maybe even 80’s (you decide).
Its strongpoint: John Travolta taking on the role as the kingpin, big kahuna in Hawaii. Let’s admit it,...

A smug-faced Willis takes down his own star status and an assortment of drug smuggling villains in this painful, unoriginal action thriller
Bruce Willis continues his campaign of reputation self-ruin – not that he has that far to fall – with this cruddy, derivative action thriller that pits two cops – one being Willis, the other Swen Temmel – and a bereaved war veteran played by Chad Michael Murray, against an eclectic assortment of drug smuggling miscreants. In a semi-tropical rural locale somewhere in the southern US (Puerto Rico served as the actual location), cops David (Willis) and Cal (Temmel) make a mess of busting some drug dealers. Although David gets injured and caught by the miscreants, Cal hares off after Violet and her super-violent bottle-blond boyfriend (Zack Ward). They end up at the farmhouse of Eric (Murray), who recently managed to kill his wife and young daughter in a car crash by not...

A quick glance at its supporting cast — a lineup that includes such notables as Mickey Rourke, Lou Diamond Phillips, Penelope Ann Miller and Sean Astin — might lead you to suspect “Adverse” has only recently been retrieved from a time capsule originally sealed in the mid-to-late 1990s. And, indeed, if it weren’t for the occupation of the protagonist — he’s a rideshare driver, not a cabbie — and the abundance of smartphone text messaging, director Brian A. Metcalf’s modestly diverting thriller probably could pass for a direct-to-video concoction from that era. There’s something positively meta going on here, though you may have to be a hard-core B-movie buff to fully appreciate it.

Robert De Niro, who was nominated this year for an Academy Award for producing “The Irishman,” plays against type as a completely incompetent producer in the first trailer for the showbiz comedy “The Comeback Trail.”
To get the mob off his back, De Niro’s disheveled producer decides to make a Western starring the washed-up Duke Montana (played by Tommy Lee Jones) in order to “accidentally” kill him during a stunt in order to collect on the life insurance policy. The problem is that Duke is apparently immortal. He survives a daily game of Russian Roulette, a fall into a massive canyon and being engulfed in flames.
Morgan Freeman stars as the mobster, who appears at the start of the trailer threatening to kill De Niro’s Max Barber and accuses him of lying about paying his debt.
“I swear I’m not lying,” De Niro responds. “Ok, I’m...

Robert De Niro and Zach Braff play hapless movie producers who hatch an insane plot to pay back a mob boss, played by Morgan Freeman, in the new trailer for The Comeback Trail, set to arrive November 13th.
The scheme De Niro and Braff’s characters craft involves a classic bit of insurance fraud: They decide to make an action-packed Western and enlist a washed-up — and decisively deranged — actor named Duke Montana (played by Tommy Lee Jones) to star in the picture, with the goal of “accidentally” killing him during...
