Bad Boys apparently really are for life as it seems that this action-packed franchise isn’t ending anytime soon with Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys 4 set to reach theatres in just a couple months. This series, centered on detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett of the Miami Police Department, has already produced three blockbuster films that have grossed over $840 million as well as a spinoff television show, L.A.’s Finest, making it one of the most successful buddy-cop action-comedy series in history. The most recent film, Bad Boys for Life, was one of the last movies to hit theaters before the pandemic shut them all down and was able to be a critical and box office success – so why would the franchise stop now? Will Smith and Martin Lawrence (Lowery and Burnett) are back for the fourth film, and this is music to the ears of fans of the series since...

Prime’s prominent chart leader, Anne Hathaway’s romantic comedy The Idea of You has rekindled people’s interest in the movies exploring the topic of the romances between people with significant age differences. However, in the case of Hathaway’s movie and other similar romcoms the age-gaps are still within the bounds of law and moral.
There is a movie, brutally showing the other side of such romances. It was one of the main hits of the last year and nowadays it’s still watched by Prime Video’s viewers a lot.
Its plot revolves around an actress in the research for her upcoming role in an independent film. We learn that she is set to play Gracie, a woman, infamous for seducing a 13 year-old boy Joe when she was 36 and was imprisoned for rape of him.

Todd Haynes’ impeccable character drama May December is getting a DVD and Blu-ray release in the UK. More details below.
In a just world, May December would have been a bigger awards contender. Todd Haynes’ stylish, addictive drama was as funny as it was disturbing. The Oscars did nominate Samy Burch’s rather brilliant script, but ultimately, the film went home empty-handed.
Starring Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore and Charles Melton, May December was loosely based on the true story of Mary Kay Letournau, an American teacher who at 34 years old sexually abused her 12-year-old student, Vili Fualaau, ultimately having two kids with him and marrying him.
May December is getting a DVD and Blu-ray release in the UK and will be released on the 20th May. You can pre-order it right here.
In the film, Moore plays the almost childlike Gracie who is married to Joe (Charles Melton),13 years her junior.

Details have emerged regarding Garland’s next film, and it seems the filmmaker will be remaining in the ‘theatre of conflict’ with Warfare.

Just as the new Apple TV+ series The New Look takes viewers back to the 1940s — when Christian Dior erupted onto the fashion scene — the 2024 Oscars also provided a portal back to that era of elegance.

Both are currently on view at a breathtaking fashion exhibition, “Fashioning San Francisco: A Century of Style,” which is on view through Aug. 11 at San Francisco’s de Young Museum (which has the dresses in its permanent collection).

Actress Natalie Portman has officially divorced her husband, French choreographer Benjamin Millepied.
Portman filed for divorce in July of last year after 11 years of marriage. The divorce was recently finalized in France.
Portman, 42, holds dual citizenship in the United States and Israel and is widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s leading actresses. She began her career as a child star in Luc Besson‘s thriller Leon: The Professional and went on to achieve success in blockbuster films such as Star Wars and Marvel movies, as well as independent and art-house productions.
Portman first met Millepied in 2009 while filming the psychological horror film Black Swan, where she delivered a performance that earned her the Best Actress Academy Award. Millepied not only appeared in the movie but also provided choreography for it.

The general public isn't always the best at accepting the reality that child stars and teen idols eventually do grow up, struggling to see them as anything but their most memorable role during adolescence. But a trend has emerged in recent years, where the stars of massive teen franchises are getting the chance to grow. People have stopped making "Twilight" jokes about the Academy Award-nominated Kristen Stewart and "The Batman" star Robert Pattinson, while Zac Efron's turn in "The Iron Claw" had people campaigning on his behalf for an Oscar. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lawrence completed "The Hunger Games" and became the second-youngest person to ever win the Oscar for Best Actress, with all three main stars of the "Harry Potter" franchise having gone on to great success in other roles.
There's still plenty of room for growth (like folks who discredited Charles Melton in "May December" because his breakthrough role...

Well, everyone, the winners for the 22nd Annual Golden Schmoes for the year 2023 are in. As expected, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer walked away the big winner, earning nine Schmoes. It took home most of the big prizes, including Best Movie, Actor, Supporting Actor, Director, Screenplay, Poster, Trailer, Line of the Year and Best Sequence. While an excellent showing that beat the seven wins Everything Everywhere All At Once took home last year, it still falls short of our all-time winner here at the Schmoes, Nolan’s own The Dark Knight, which won an amazing 12 awards.
Otherwise, the winners were an eclectic mix. Godzilla Minus One, which is now widely considered the greatest Kaiju movie ever made, took home three awards, including Best VFX, which is impressive considering how small its budget was compared to the competition. Third place was an interesting tie, with John Wick: Chapter 4, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,...

According to People, a rep for Portman confirmed that the Oscar-winning actor quietly filed for divorce from the French choreographer in July in France, where the couple resided with their two children. The divorce was finalized last month.

Portman and Millepied first met on the set of “Black Swan,” for which Portman won the best actress Oscar in 2010. They wed in California in August 2012 and share a 12-year-old son, Aleph, and 7-year-old daughter, Amalia.
Portman most recently starred in Todd Haynes’ “May December” alongside Julianne Moore and Charles Melton, which is up for a best original screenplay Oscar on Sunday. Oscar week is finally here! Ask anyone who has been in the thick of awards season and they’ll likely let out a huge sigh followed by exasperated admission that this has been one of the most hectic runs in recent memory. The condensed calendar, forced by last year’s dual strikes, could translate to more lively bashes, however, as there’s light at the end of the tunnel with Sunday’s Oscars. That can only mean that champagne is currently popping at A-list bashes across Los Angeles, and The Hollywood Reporter is on the scene everywhere from Vanity Fair and Elton John to MPTF’s Night Before. See below for the roundup of all the red carpet action.

Apologies for the delay in what was supposed to be the Almost There series' glorious return. Since the Oscars are less than one week away, let's see if I can get things back on schedule, starting with a look at one of the season's most disappointing "snubs." When May December premiered in Cannes, many singled out Charles Melton's performance, starting a narrative with great potential. Here was a Riverdale heartthrob making his way into the big leagues, proving he could go toe to toe with such awards-winning stars as Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore. Sadly, not long after a Gotham victory, Melton's campaign lost steam, victim of his film's failure to secure industry support, and he ended outside of AMPAS' Best Supporting Actor ballot…...

[Editor’s note: this story was originally published in January 2024. We updated and recirculated it in advance of the 96th Academy Awards on March 10.]
The Oscars are a cruel, selective beast. With only 10 movies recognized in the Best Picture race, and five entries in every other category, it’s an unfortunate reality that many high quality, deserving films each year will end up with nothing on nomination day.
The 2024 Oscar class is no different, with plenty of cries of snubbery coming out after their January 23 announcement. Most of the discussion has been taken up by the shocking blanks for Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig, who missed out on Best Actress and Best Director respectively for their work on “Barbie,” the indisputable film juggernaut of the year. Other major surprises included Charles Melton missing out for his breakout turn in “May December,” and Leonardo DiCaprio getting left out of the Best Actor race for “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Other surprises proved of the more pleasant sort, with on-the-bubble contenders making it in like Robbie...

Exclusive: Piper Curda (May December), Noel Fisher (Shameless) and Josh Zuckerman (Oppenheimer) will topline Cogn-ai-tive, an AI thriller from first-time feature filmmaker Tommy Savas. It has wrapped production.
Written by Angie Simms, the film centers on a pioneering tech startup on the verge of launching Cogn-ai-tive — a new AI chatbot with unparalleled speed and intelligence. Soon, the team discovers their creation harbors a dark and sinister will of its own.
Hailing from Reckless Content in collaboration with Bridge & Tunnel Films, the indie also stars Natasha Behnam (The Girls on the Bus), Ritesh Rajan (Russian Doll) and Lucius Baybak (Dear White People). The production team includes executive producer Jason Schnell, producers Judy Craig and Kelly May, line producer Cameron Fife, and co-producer Justin Mooney.
“Cogn-ai-tive is a commentary on the ever-growing reliance on technology and artificial intelligence in our lives,” Savas said. “I’ve always been inspired by the iconic cinema of the ’90s.

What do you do when they come for you? Beloved horror franchise “The Strangers” is getting a revamp, courtesy of prequel “The Strangers: Chapter 1” starring “Riverdale” alum Madelaine Petsch. Two more sequels are due later this year, all from “Die Hard 2” and “Cliffhanger” director Renny Harlin.
In this first film, Petsch stars as a young woman who is trying to start a new life with her fiancé. Yet, during a road trip stop in a remote vacation rental in the woods, the couple become the prey of a mysterious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason. Froy Gutierrez, Gabriel Basso, and Ema Horvath co-star.
Sure, it may sound like a run-of-the-mill slasher, but “The Strangers” franchise has a haunting allure, thanks to its creation by filmmaker Bryan Bertino. The director has a “story by” credit for “Chapter 1,” which is helmed by Harlin and written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland.

Oscar nominations were announced in Los Angeles at 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 23. The backlash began by sunrise. Barbie received eight nominations, including for best picture, but where were individual nods for director Greta Gerwig or star Margot Robbie, the A-list architects who constructed a billion-dollar blockbuster out of an $18 plastic doll that was born in 1959? Barbie fans went berserk online, denouncing the Academy for what they saw as a sexist snub. Breathless press coverage of the controversy dominated the news cycle for days, and even Hillary Clinton weighed in to support her shunned sisters.

The American Psycho reboot is reportedly in development at Lionsgate Films, with the studio looking for writers for the project. The Christian Bale starring 2000 film discussed consumerism in a satirical thriller context and earned a cult classic status. The new project should offer something unique to capture the attention of the audience. One theory for the reboot may have the potential to surpass the original classic.
Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho
According to this theory, the American Psycho reboot project could be a series instead of a film. Each season or episode will be dedicated to a new psychopath, played by multiple talented artists, and they take the audience through different problems persisting in society.

According to reports, Lionsgate Films wants to reboot one of their cult classic IPs, American Psycho. Fans have been both skeptical and excited ever since this rumor dropped on the internet. Christian Bale’s film set in the ’80s had the perfect central character in Patrick Bateman. Bateman’s newfound fame in the present meme culture may have put the idea in the studio execs’ heads. However, the reboot movie will work only if two arcs are changed in Bret Eaton Ellis’ story.
Mary Harron and Christian Bale on the set of American Psycho
When Mary Harron took up the challenging task of adapting Ellis’ novel into a movie, the odds were stacked against her, unlike today. Both Harron and Bale were turned away from the film at one point before the studio realized their vision for the film.

Beef 2 Reported Cast Update & More(Photo Credit –IMDb)
The Netflix series Beef, starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, impressed critics and viewers with its dark comedy, fantastic storyline, and outstanding performances. The first season came out in April last year, and it has grabbed some of the major awards at the Emmys this year. Luckily for the fans, the fun won’t end with season 1. Apparently, there will be Beef 2, and big names like Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal are being eyed for the main cast.
What is Beef about?
It is about a failing contractor and an unfulfilled entrepreneur, sparking a feud after a road rage incident between them. However, there is also an underlying depression. They require psychological solace but refuse to get conventional help. The series has an 8/10 rating on IMDb. Many critics call it one of the best series of the year.

It looks like the popular drama series Beef is heading down the anthology route as a brand-new (and very impressive) cast comes together for its second season.
Netflix’s Beef, created by Lee Sung Jin, was one of last year’s breakout hits on the streaming platform. The ten episode drama featured Stephen Yeun and Ali Wong as its twin leads told a self-contained tale of two ordinary people that let an everyday moment of frustration boil up into something much darker and destructive.
Sung Jin is now putting together the casting for season two of the show, which looks like it will go down the anthology route and tell an entirely different story.
Given the critical acclaim that the first season was able to build up, it looks like Sung Jin is going to be able to call on some pretty prestigious names too: according to Deadline, the core...

Netflix hasn’t officially pulled the trigger on Beef season 2, but when it does, it could come with a star-studded cast. According to Deadline, the new season will revolve around two feuding couples. Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are being eyed to play one of the couples, and Charles Melton (May December) and Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) are being eyed for the other.
As it’s still early on in the process, Deadline admits that there are no deals in place yet but added that the scripts for Beef season 2 were recently turned in. Should everything move ahead, production on the new season could get underway by later summer or fall. Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway have appeared together several times before, most notably in Brokeback Mountain and Love & Other Drugs, so it would be fun to see them share the screen again.

After cleaning house during awards season, major awards taken at SAG, The Indie Spirit Awards, the Golden Globes, the Emmys, and the PGAs, the Netflix series, “Beef,” once seen as a limited series, is coming back for season two, but more as an anthology series it sounds like. Initially starring Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, the series centered on a road rage incident between two strangers and the ensuing vengeful feud that makes them both go unhinged.
