‘Tumse Na Ho Payega’ (2023) Review: Misses Its Mark Due To A Lukewarm Approach To An Inspiring Story
Every good movie is infused with a unique spirit that is very hard to miss. If it’s there, one senses it. It’s in the rhythm and pacing of every shot in every scene. It cannot be confused with sentimentality flooding the screen. Tumse Na Ho Payega is another lifeless film from writers Nikhil Mehrotra and Nitesh Tiwari. The duo had worked as writers in the latter’s directorial venture Bawaal, which was so stilted in its metaphors that it became preposterous. This one, directed by Abhishek Sinha, is perhaps less jarring, but it’s a bit of a straight story. It would be more accurate to say that the complex story, which is inspired by Varul Agarwal’s book How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company, is made into a dull one by the writers. Varun Agarwal is an entrepreneur whose story has inspired...

Laghushanka movie review is here. The short movie stars Shweta Tripathi in the lead. The short film marks the directorial debut of Nikhil Mehrotra, who has previously written for critically-acclaimed movies such as Dangal and Chhichhore. Laghushanka is slated to debut on SonyLIV on Oct 16.
Laghushanka story
Set against the backdrop of Patna, Laghushanka tells the story of Shruti (Shweta Tripathi), a young girl suffering from a peculiar condition. Shruti suffers from Lagushanka (urination problem). Shruti is about to get married. Preparations are in full swing in her house when this unusual problem re-triggers just two days before her wedding.
Laghushanka movie reviewNikhil Mehrotra begins with a bang and ends it on a highly predictable note. For me the movie began when it ended. A terrific story/plot for a full fledged length quirky feature, made into a short movie.
Nevertheless, this short underlines Nikhil Mehrotra’s caliber as a storyteller.

ReviewThe film makes you uncomfortable and emotional without obnoxious jingoism that’s common in army films.Geetika MantriScreengrab/Netflix In an ideal world, anyone can aspire to be anything. Some progressive families try to treat their children equally, irrespective of gender. But the world, more often than not, does not agree. A child, who was told she could soar, finds herself in a predicament when she learns that the society around her doesn’t think so. She fights back, but she is no superwoman – how many times must she prove herself despite being able? Many women would relate to this story. In a society that defines roles for us almost from the minute we are born, the struggle to swim against the tide can be difficult, exhausting and continuing forever. And the Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl does an efficient job of showing that without unnecessary angst or chest-thumping.

Ittefaq
Starring Akshaye Khanna,Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha
Directed by Abhay Chopra
This 2-hour thriller claiming to be a taut revisionist version of the 1969 classic produced by this film’s director’s father and directed by his uncle, actually seems to last much longer than its playing-time.
Ittefaq is one long stretch and a yawn. Unlike the origina,l the action in the remake jumps all over the place like a frog during the mating season. The characters run around a lot. But we are never interested in where they are going, or whom they were trying to bump off and why. This is not a whodunit. This is a whocareswhodunit disguised as a whodunit.
And the real murder victim is the original film’s script. Yash Chopra’s Ittefaq has been mauled and moulded into shapes that the original creators never intended. The real murder happens not in the...
