Heading into the Cannes market Vmi Worldwide has acquired international sales rights to the action title Kill Craft, with sister company Vmi Releasing set to release in North America.
Mark Savage wrote and directed the story starring Sanae Loutsis as a wife and daughter forced to take over the family business after her veteran hitman father is mysteriously killed on the job.
Michael Paré and Bill Oberst Jr. also star in the feature from Stl Productions, Savage Sinema, and Millman Productions.
Savage, Alexi Angelino, and Jeff Miller produced Kill Craft, with Shawn Loutsis and Tamie Loutsis serving as executive producers.

Saban Films has acquired the U.S., U.K. and other international rights to Jean-Claude Van Damme action-spy thriller “Darkness of Man.”
Directed by James Cullen Bressack, the film sees Van Damme playing Interpol operative Russell Hatch, who witnesses the death of his last informant in a routine raid gone wrong. Years later, he takes on a father figure role to the son of the informant, and finds himself protecting the boy from a group of merciless gangs in an all-out turf war.
Alongside the U.S. and U.K., Saban Films has picked up Australian/New Zealand, African, Spanish and Scandinavian territory rights to the film, which also stars Kristanna Loken (“Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines”), Peter Jae (“Blackhat”), Spencer Breslin (“The Kid”), Emerson Min (“Black-ish”) and rapper Sticky Fingaz.

Zeitgeist Films and Kino Lorber on Tuesday said they have co-acquired U.S. rights to Ken Loach’s Sorry We Missed You, which had its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The news comes as the pic readies for a screening at the Toronto Film Festival next month. The plan is for Zeitgeist to release the film beginning March 6, 2020 in New York with a national rollout following; Kino Lorber will handle the digital release. Penned by Paul Laverty, Sorry We Missed You examines the implications of the service economy are seen through the eyes of a British delivery worker (Kris Hitchen), his caregiver wife (Debbie Honeywood) and their two children. Sixteen Films’ Rebecca O’Brien is producer. The deal was negotiated by Kino Lorber’s Wendy Lidell, Wild Bunch International’s Eva Diederix and CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers.

The film imagines a dystopian future, one in which an electric-magnetic pulse strikes America, knocking out all the power and pushing the country into the Dark Ages. Exclusive: International film finance, sales and production company Vmi Worldwide has promoted Julie Paquit to the post of VP Sales, a move that comes as the outfit sets up shop at the American Film Market which kicks off Wednesday in Santa Monica.
Paquit recently repped market and festival deals via Vmi, inking territory and presales deals for the likes of Daughters of the Wolf, the Nicolas Cage-starrer The Humanity Bureau, the Bille August-helmed The Chinese Widow, Wake Up starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Francesca Eastwood and The Recall toplined by Wesley Snipes.
