Family, friends and former co-stars of Adan Canto took to social media on Tuesday to remember the actor following news that The Cleaning Lady and Designated Survivor star died of cancer at age 42.
“Forever my treasure Adan, see you soon,” Stephanie Canto, Adan’s wife, wrote on Instagram. She paired the message with a passage from Matthew 6:19-21 and a photo of the couple together.
Canto died Tuesday of appendiceal cancer, his rep told The Hollywood Reporter. His diagnosis had not been made public.
“Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever,” read a statement. “He will be greatly missed by so many.”
Along with his wife, he is survived by their two children, Roman Alder, 3, and Eve Josephine, 1.
Canto was known by many as Aaron Shore on Netflix’s Designated Survivor, the White House Chief of Staff-turned-Vice President to Kiefer Sutherland’s Tom Kirkman.

Netflix has removed an episode of “Designated Survivor” from its service in Turkey over complaints from Turkish censors that the episode painted a fictional version of the country’s president in an unflattering light.
“Following a demand from the Turkish regulator, we have removed one episode of ‘Designated Survivor’ from Netflix in Turkey only, to comply with local law. It is still available on our service in the rest of the world,” a Netflix spokesperson told TheWrap.
The episode “Family Ties,” which premiered on the streamer in 2018, depicts a fictional version of a Turkish president named Fatih Turan played by actor Troy Caylak (pictured above). The character meets resistance from Turkey’s opposition while attending a Nato summit in the U.S., where he interacts with the fictional U.S. president Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland).

Netflix has removed an episode of political thriller series Designated Survivor in Turkey following a demand from the country’s censor board.

Neal Baer is among the few people in the world who can list “licensed physician” and “experienced showrunner” on his resume. With that background, it’s telling that Baer’s most recent TV effort — steering the third season of Kiefer Sutherland drama “Designated Survivor” — revolved around the theme of a pandemic breaking out in the U.S.
The extraordinary global response to the coronavirus threat has appeared to lift viewership and social media traffic on the Entertainment One series, which premiered its third (and final) season on Netflix in June 2019, after two seasons on ABC.
Baer, who previously worked on “ER” and was showrunner/executive producer of “Law & Order: Svu” and “Under the Dome,” knew that the threat of a bio-terror attack and the nation’s lack of preparedness would be meaty subjects for a political drama series because they have been a growing focus for real-life public health experts.

War is brewing in the latest trailer for HBO’s Watchmen, so we’re going to get this out of the way early: We’re on whatever side Regina King’s Angela plays for.
If the reasoning put forth at the beginning of the clip is to be believed, Angela is driven by trauma, obsessed with justice and has experienced grievous injustice in her lifetime. But that doesn’t stop her from donning a mask and kicking down doors in the pursuit of good — even if that means, as she informs Don Johnson’s police chief Judd Crawford, getting a little rough.

“Designated Survivor” and “Tuca & Bertie” have both been canceled by Netflix after one season each at the streamer.
For the Kiefer Sutherland-led political thriller, this marks the second time it’s gotten the chop. The first two seasons ran on its original network home, ABC, with Netflix announcing plans to revive the show last fall. The show’s third season debuted on the streamer last month.

Netflix will not be picking up new seasons of D.C. drama series Designated Survivor starring Kiefer Sutherland, or freshman adult animated comedy series Tuca & Bertie, headlined by Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong.
Netflix rescued Designated Survivor, picking it up for a third season last September after its cancellation by ABC following months of complex dealmaking. At the time, the streaming service and studio eOne made one-year deals with the cast for a third season only. Some of the actors have already moved on — for instance Kal Penn is toplining a new comedy series on NBC — but they were open to doing more Designated Survivor. The three produced seasons will continue to be available on Netflix globally.

Making its Netflix debut this Friday, Designated Survivor opened Season 3 with President Kirkman navigating a disastrous State of the Union with the help of a slightly revamped staff. Does the re-re-re-re-rejiggered political drama get your vote?
One month after announcing that he would be seeking a second term — as an Independent — Kirkman found himself dealing with the fallout of a Sotu in which he got a bit hot, after someone in the crowd crowed that he was “illegitimate.” Kirkman’s sharply voiced message was simply one about draining the swamp, but opponent Moss and the media turned it into a question of his composure.

There is no shortage of topics left undiscussed this season.
The campaigning is something which carries over throughout the season, but it seems each installment wants to take on a couple of issues at a time sometimes in a way that feels like it's checking them off of a checklist.
For example, Designated Survivor Season 3 Episode 3 was heavily focused on transgender visibility, and Designated Survivor Season 3 Episode 4 most prominently featured Aaron's identity issues and delved into racial politics, colorism, passing, and even Eugenics.
The series took off running with this new forum and flexibility, and they are making use of its nearly full hour. However, it also feels a bit too cluttered.

Young-adult fiction often poses the question of what would happen if kids found themselves without the guiding hands of adults.
Do they emulate what they have seen before or do things crumble down around them?
The Society is the latest such piece of young-adult entertainment that ponders all of those questions, and it manages to do it quite nicely.
The Society's creator is Christopher Keyser who co-created another show that explored similar themes, Party of Five.
While Party of Five featured a close-knit group pulled together when the parents of five children get killed, The Society features a larger group who also seem to have lost their parents -- and everyone else who lived in their town and perhaps the world.
Review: Chambers is An Inspired Thriller that Goes Off the Rails

When Designated Survivor Season 1 debuted, Tom Kirkman did not have to run for President of the United States.
On Designated Survivor Season 3, premiering Friday, June 7, on Netflix, Tom has to sway public opinion in his favor with the aim of keeping the coveted title that fell on his lap at the start of the series.
It's an interesting direction, but it also presents many opportunities for him to be skewered in the media for past actions.

There is a lot to process in the first full trailer for Season 3 of Designated Survivor, which hits Netflix on Friday, June 7.
For starters, you’ll see Tom Kirkman (played by Kiefer Sutherland) wonder if he has already screwed up his reelection campaign. You’ll also see who his pick for a running mate is… and the crisis that results. Hannah (Maggie Q) is offered a plum new gig with apparently very high stakes, and Seth (Kal Penn) unleashes quite a tirade about the state of journalism from the press room. In addition to Sutherland, Penn and Q, returning cast...

President Tom Kirkman is setting up his new office at Netflix, as Kiefer Sutherland’s “Designated Survivor” has finally received a Season 3 premiere date from the streaming service.
The former ABC drama will debut its 10-episode third season June 7 on Netflix, Sutherland said in a video tweeted Wednesday. In that same two-minute clip, the series’ lead took it upon himself to recap the political drama’s first two seasons for users who haven’t been following along with Kirkman’s journey.
Watch the date announcement below.
“Designated Survivor” was revived for a third season by Netflix last September, with its fifth different showrunner in “ER” and “Law & Order” vet Neal Baer. The streaming service had been in talks with eOne, which produces the show, since it was canceled by ABC back in May. The political thriller was one of many broadcast TV shows to get the ax last spring during the pre-upfronts bloodbath.

During the first two seasons on the eOne-produced series, Kirkman faced the daunting task of having to rebuild the government and stabilize the country. He has paid a heavy price for becoming president in such a volatile way: his wife (Natascha McElhone) accidentally was killed,...

This week on Designated Survivor, in its Season 2 and, at very least, ABC series finale, Tom Kirkman’s administration stepped in it yet again, casting even more doubt on the future of his presidency.

President Kirkman's term has come to an end.
Sadly, Designated Survivor has officially been canceled which means after Designated Survivor Season 2 Episode 22, the political series will be signing off for good.
It's been an amazing ride for this Kiefer Sutherland favorite.
As for Tom Kirkman, he's facing multiple crises at once. The direst at the time is a natural disaster, specifically a tsunami that will jeopardize the lives of two of his staff members.
Designated Survivor and Quantico Canceled at ABC!
It's hard to say which staff members, but if you watch Designated Survivor online, you would know that Emily's life was in jeopardy on Designated Survivor Season 2 Episode 21 when someone gunning for Kendra shot at Emily instead.
It didn't look good for Kirkman's favorite Chief of Staff.
Elsewhere, Kirkman overcame the hurdle of a competency hearing to determine whether he was fit to rule the country after the devastating loss of his wife.

Exclusive: We might not have seen the last of political thriller Designated Survivor. I hear that eOne is in talks to shop the Kiefer Sutherland-fronted drama to other networks following its cancellation by ABC.
eOne sources have told Deadline that “it’s not over” and that it’s starting to look at whether there is another home for the thriller. “We’re right at the beginning but there’s more to play on that one,” said the exec. “Designated Survivor” had a tough second season ratings-wise, but the drama starring Kiefer Sutherland as the Commander-in-Chief was still seen as having a decent shot at winning a third term on ABC — until the ax fell on Friday.
The show, from Mark Gordon Co./Entertainment One and ABC Studios, had been a strong draw for eOne in international markets, an important factor these days in the survival of any scripted series. And Sutherland is the kind of name-brand star that broadcast networks like to have in their sizzle reels.
But “Designated Survivor” was handicapped almost from the start by a revolving door of showrunners. Entertainment One had lined up drama veteran Neal Baer to take the helm of season three, which would have made him the show’s fifth showrunner. Sutherland per his contract had veto power over showrunners and had approved Baer. Sources say Baer had been busy this...
