Wasserman, the sports and music representation firm that acquired Brillstein Entertainment Partners last year, is officially moving into the non-fiction space.
The company has launched a new division run by former Showtime exec Zoe Rogovin.
It comes after Wasserman scored a wide-ranging deal between Brittney Griner and Disney that includes a major documentary component. The company is also behind Netflix’s Get Gotti.
The unit will develop premium, commercial TV and documentary films with directors, talent and production companies as well as Wasserman’s own entertainment, sports, and music businesses.
Rogovin will report to Jon Liebman, CEO of Brillstein Entertainment Partners, who runs all content and entertainment for Wasserman.
She started her career as an intern at Brillstein and later worked in Global Media Rights and Business Development for Wasserman, before eventually becoming Showtime’s SVP of Programming, where she oversaw non-fiction series such as W. Kamau Bell’s We Need to Talk About Cosby,...

Wasserman has finalized plans to acquire Brillstein Entertainment Partners. The entertainment management and production company run by Cynthia Pett and Jon Liebman will now be under the umbrella of Wasserman’s sports marketing and talent management.
The current Wasserman clients, including but not limited to athletes and musicians, will now be able to potentially more closely participate in films, shows or related content created by Brillstein and using the IP already existing within Brillstein. Just over a year ago, the leadership of Brillstein Entertainment Partners — a pioneering Hollywood company founded in 1969 by talent broker icon Bernie Brillstein, who managed names like Lorne Michaels, Garry Shandling, Brad Pitt, Nicolas Cage and Mike Myers — started thinking about strategic options for their business, including a sale.
The management and production firm had been led by co-CEOs Cynthia Pett and Jon Liebman since 2005, when the duo bought out the stake of executive Brad Grey and Brillstein-Grey dropped the latter name from the shingle. (Notably, the late Grey, who went on to become CEO of Paramount Pictures, took the backend interest in HBO’s The Sopranos, which had been produced by Brillstein, with him.)
Liebman, a New York entertainment attorney who joined Brillstein in 1998, says informal conversations were held in 2022 with Casey Wasserman, whose namesake company — which includes sports talent agents and a booking agency — has been on the acquisition hunt,...

2021 Golden Globe Final Predictions:
Best TV Series (Drama)
Updated: Feb. 24, 2021
Awards Commentary:
Personally, we wouldn’t be mad to see a surprise victory by “Lovecraft Country” here. That show managed to explore the topics of racial injustice and violence, particularly in the Jim Crow era, through the lens of pulp horror — and to amazing results. But alas, the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. didn’t nominate its stars, Jurnee Smollett and Jonathan Majors, leaving us to wonder how committed they are to the HBO series. “The Mandalorian” was an Emmy victor several times over thanks to various craft categories, and “Ratched” comes from the awards bait of Mr. Ryan Murphy. But it likely comes down to two other Netflix dramas: “Ozark” and “The Crown.

Netflix senior vice president of originals Allie Goss is leaving the streaming service after more than 13 years.
Deadline first reported the news of Goss’ departure, and a network insider confirmed that report’s accuracy to TheWrap.
Goss’ exit is due to an organizational change in structure under Channing Dungey, who joined the company in February as vice president of originals, splitting the role with fellow originals vice president Cindy Holland. Goss, who has been among the longest tenured programming executives at Netflix, will step down this week.
