Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu’s film ‘Guntur Kaaram’ has released its latest song ‘Dum Masala’, and much like its name it brings home pure attitude, edge, swag, with musical ingenuity. The track is done in pure gangster style mixing in hints of Western neo-noir music with a lot of film music, some rap, classical, rock, electronic, folk, and more.
Very peppy, catchy and groovy, despite its somewhat gentle sonic texture and even amusing lyricism, ‘Dum Masala’ has pure hardcore edge and swag as desi and Western come together and create a very unique blend of their own in this track.
The song uses a lot of synthesisers combined with what sounds like a veena, some electric guitar, percussive instruments which mix in drums and a mrindangam (a type of dholak used in Telugu speaking states), and open spaces with only vocals without instruments.

It is based on true events and is based on a book ‘Escape to Nowhere’, written by the former Chief of the Counter Espionage Unit of R&aw, Amar Bhushan.
Vishal, who performed with Rekha Bhardwaj in the recent album launch of ‘Khufiya’, spoke about the rhythms and musical cadence.
He said: “The process of creating music for a film is usually so organic and mixed up that it’s very difficult for me to bifurcate it. In the case of ‘Khufiya,’ there is a theme in the film, a whistle which is my favourite melody.”

Indian sports people are often known as great cricketers or hockey players. Yet time and time again it is the weightlifters, squash and badminton players and shooters who win major medals representing India. Vishal Mishra is tasked with giving a soundtrack to these two ladies lives with Raj Shekhar providing the lyrics.
Jyoti Nooran and Sunidhi Chauhan team up for Udta Teetar as the album’s opener. An interesting combination piece with Western Rock instrumentation and also a harmonium, both singers take to a more classical style but with plenty of flourishes in their voices.

The trailer for Bharat ends with the line “Desh logon se banta hai, aur logon ke pechan unki pariwar se hoti hai” delivered by Jackie Shroff to his son Bharat in a flashback. This seems to be the key motif to this year’s Eid thriller for the masses, Bharat, starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Disha Patani. With this line, all that came in the previous 2:40 of the trailer boils down to 1 man, 1 country but it’s obvious that director Ali Abbas Zafar will be taking audiences on a fast-paced ride filled both with pride and power. Julius Packiam and Vishal-Shekhar come together to deliver an all-round score for this epic story spanning the history of both Bharat the man and Bharat the country based on the South Korean story “Ode to my Father”.

Manmariziyaan refers to the instinctual belief that the heart does whatever it wants. The new film starring Abhisekh Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal and Tapsee Pannu follows this instinctual belief from its beginning to its hopefully happy end. Even though the story is Punjabi and is set in Punjab with involving Punjabi characters, it gives a modern look at romance, love and lust; themes that will resonate across the world as Tapsee makes the tough choice between the wild Vicky and the arranged marriage with Abhisekh. Releasing 14th September, the film is produced by Phantom films and Yellow productions, who have called upon Amit Trivedi to give the audience a 11-track Punjabi musical extravaganza.
