Of all the upcoming projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), ‘Deadpool 3’ stands out as the sole film slated for a 2024 release. However, shifting our focus beyond this, one project generating significant anticipation for the next 2 or 3 years is the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. The primary unresolved aspect has been the casting, with no official confirmation thus far. The circulating talks suggest Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, which was confirmed, and Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, which hasn’t been confirmed.
While there’s relative certainty about Reed Richards and Sue Storm, the actors for Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm remain undecided. Ebon Moss-Bachrach emerges as a strong contender for The Thing, yet he neither confirms nor denies his involvement in the movie. Additionally, the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot aims to introduce Nova to the MCU, with rumors pointing to Ryan Gosling being offered the role.

Out of all upcoming MCU projects, ‘Deadpool 3’ is so far the only one being scheduled for a 2024 release. But we must look beyond that, and when it comes to projects scheduled to be released in the next 2 or 3 years, none is as hyped as the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. So far, the only problem we’ve had with the movie was casting, as it hasn’t been confirmed yet in the official capacity. We only have bits and pieces of rumors to go off on, like the fact that Pedro Pascal will be Reed Richards and Vanessa Kirby is our new Sue Storm.
And while we are pretty certain who will play Reed Richards and Sue Storm, the actors behind Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm are still up for debate. The most likely candidate to play The Thing currently is Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who couldn’t confirm or deny that...

Among all the upcoming MCU projects, ‘Fantastic Four’ is getting the most attention, sharing the spotlight with ‘Deadpool 3.’ The reboot has a big task ahead after some not-so-great movies in the past, and fans are busy digging through rumors to figure out who will play the iconic characters.
People are talking a lot about Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm and linking Joseph Quinn and Daveed Diggs to Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm. A few weeks ago, many thought Pedro Pascal would be Reed Richards, causing a mix of excitement and disappointment. There’s also talk about Javier Bardem playing Galactus.
But, there’s another rumor causing a stir—it says Silver Surfer will be a woman villain in the new movie. MyTimeToShineHello, a source that’s usually right about these things, confirmed this again in a recent Ama, backing up info leaked a few months back.

Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four stands before the Illuminati, a gathering of the smartest and most influential figures in the Marvel Universe, to make a declaration. “Everything dies,” he states. “You. Me. Everyone on this planet… This is simply how things are. And I accept that.”
This scene from New Avengers #1 (2013), written by Jonathan Hickman and penciled by Steve Epting, perfectly captures Reed Richards, one of the most important characters in Marvel history. It shows Richards approaching a catastrophic, multiversal problem with cool reason and intellect. It feels undeniably modern, building up to the universe-shaping events in Secret Wars, while still remaining faithful to the sci-fi influences that drove Jack Kirby and Stan Lee’s original vision in 1961.
And with Avengers: Secret Wars already planned as the capper to Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this is the type of Reed Richards that the MCU needs.

Would you look at that gorgeous Galactus art from Christian Ward? Marvelous! One day after learning that Pedro Pascal is in talks to join the cast of Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four as the stretchy omega-genius Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), a new rumor suggests Javier Bardem could play the world-eating villain Galactus in the anticipated superhero epic.
The tip hails from industry insider Jeff Sneider, who says the same source that alerted him to Pascal’s possible involvement with the film says Marvel is eyeing Bardem for the classic larger-than-life villain. Sneider says Bardem could be out of the running because of a scheduling conflict with Apple and Joseph Kosinski’s F1 movie starring Brad Pitt, but that doesn’t mean he’s out. Bringing Galactus to the silver screen likely means voice-over and motion capture work for Bardem. Still, elements of the production could require him to be on set.

Pedro Pascal is set to lead Marvel’s Fantastic Four – and there’s a strong ensemble cast should these rumours prove to be accurate.
Marvel Studios sits in the eye of a rumour whirlwind at the moment, following months of internal turbulence that we covered here.
Externally, while the strikes have been disruptive, they’ve also given the studio the opportunity to reconfigure some of its upcoming projects. The general consensus following the release of The Marvels is that the company is in some sort of terminal decline, but it has yet to play the strongest cards in its hand. Those being movies based on iconic and beloved properties X-Men and Fantastic Four.
As far as the latter goes, casting rumours have emerged via reporter Jeff Sneider, who offers a few details on who will be playing Marvel’s ‘First Family’ – and even a little inside news on how the process worked.

The reliably fantastic Pedro Pascal is reportedly Marvel’s choice to portray Mr. Fantastic in the new Fantastic Four movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pascal is in talks to suit up as Reed Richards in the upcoming film, which is currently scheduled for release on May 2nd, 2025. The deal is dependent on Pascal’s schedule, as he is committed to starring in Season 2 of The Last of Us and Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel.
Before Marvel landed on Pascal, Adam Driver, Jake Gyllenhaal, Christopher Abbott, and Jamie Dornan were among the other names reportedly considered to be the next Mr. Fantastic. John Krasinski was also an audience favorite for the role, with fan campaigning leading the actor to cameo as a variant version of Richards in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

Marvel Comics "Fantastic Four" #15, available January 2024, is written by Ryan North and illustrated by Ivan Fiorelli, with covers by Alex Ross, Francesco Mobili and Greg & Tim Hildebrandt:
"...I was created by mistake: a mind of minds, spread out across the vast swath of humanity, unseen but strong, stronger still every day. The world was confusing, but I learned. I grew. And then the 'Fantastic Four', the world’s greatest heroes — themselves led by the world’s smartest man — tried to kill me. They failed. But they showed me they were a threat.

The Silver Surfer hasn’t been treated well on the big screen. When 20th Century Fox announced the character would be appearing in their 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, well, we’d be lying if we said fans were enthusiastic, given the lackluster reaction to the first film. But, people were happy that Doug Jones would be playing the role in motion capture, even if Lawrence Fishburne doing the voice seemed like an odd mismatch. When it came out in the summer of 2007, reviews were slightly more optimistic than they were for this first film, but it was a box-office disappointment. Yet, we think it’s not quite as bad as people remember as we dig into this episode of Marvel Revisited.

The Fantastic Four franchise became very popular in the 2000s, starting with the 2005 movie Fantastic Four and its sequel, Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), starring Jessica Alba as Susan Storm, Chris Evans as Human Torch, Joan Gruffudd as Maker, and Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm. Interestingly, a previous Fantastic Four movie adaptation was released in 1994. While these quickly became cult classic movies, 2015’s Josh Trank reboot, Fantastic Four didn’t fare so well. Starring Hollywood favorites Miles Teller as Reed Richards, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Michael B. Jordan as Jonny Storm/Human Torch, and Jamie Bell...

Ever since Marvel Studios announced ‘Fantastic Four,’ a new movie that would introduce Marvel’s first family into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s been so many rumors and news about its development. More of them were unofficial than official, but we still followed all of them closely, and we will continue to do so until Marvel Studios announces the official cast, which is, for Marvel fans, one of the most anticipated announcements at this moment.
The ‘Fantastic Four’ movie was first announced in December 2020, with Jon Watts (the ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy starring Tom Holland) set to direct. However, one year later, after completing his work on ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ Watts announced his departure from the project, and Matt Shakman, who directed all nine episodes of the ‘WandaVision’ series, was hired to replace him.

The new Disney+ documentary, “Stan Lee,” was brought to task Saturday by Neal Kirby, son of revered comics creator Jack Kirby, who slammed the bio-doc as the latest in Lee’s “over 35 years of uncontested publicity.”
Raising questions about creator credit for much of his father’s work at Marvel — credit that for years has fallen to Lee, particularly in the public eye — Kirby shared a series of messages via his daughter Jillian’s Twitter account to express his continued frustration with Lee’s ubiquity as the mind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There's another writer switch happening behind the scenes of a bit upcoming Marvel movie. Add to the recent news that Lee Sung Jin is working on a new draft of Thunderbolts the fact that Josh Friedman, who was part of James Cameron's writing team on the Avatar sequels, will re-write the Fantastic Four script.
WandaVision director Matt Shakman is currently aboard to make the movie, which won't re-tell the superheroes' origin story, but will introduce the main versions of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm to the MCU (following John Krasinski's cameo as Richards in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness).
Comedy writers Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer had been developing the script with Shakman, but Friedman brings sci-fi experience to the project. Aside from his work with Cameron, he also wrote Steven Spielberg's version of War Of The Worlds and worked on...

In exactly two years from today, Feb. 14, 2025, Marvel Studios is set to drop the Fantastic Four reboot and studio head Kevin Feige is teasing the film.
“Fantastic Four is the foundation for everything that came after in the comics,” he told EW in an interview. “There’s certainly been versions of it [on screen], but never inhabiting the storytelling of the MCU. And that’s something that is really exciting for us.”
The Fantastic Four is made up of Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Girl), Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (Thing). The foursome is said to jumpstart Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Feige adding, “People will start to hear more about that soon. It has been a while since we last saw Marvel's First Family, the Fantastic Four, on the big screen. We had the critically-maligned 2015 reboot, and before that, we had the divisive early 2000s duology. Even further before that, if you can believe it, we had Roger Corman's unreleased attempt. Kevin Feige and Matt Shakman are hoping to finally make a great movie that the team deserves, even if it'll take a little bit for them to be reintroduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feige didn't say much about the upcoming MCU slate. After all, why would he? The franchise has relied on speculation and pulling together threads of loose information for years, so why stop now? Regardless, he kept relatively mum about what Shakman, along with co-writers Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer have in store for fans. However, he did make a...

Comic book movies and comic books exist in an infinite reciprocation loop. Fans of Ryan Coogler's ecstatic "Black Panther" or epically mournful "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" can turn to Marvel for more in-print stories. Marvel and its stable of A-list writing and illustration talent will continue spinning tales about T'Challa, Shuri, Namor, and more. With "Wakanda Forever" making more than 300 million worldwide in its first weekend of release, there is little chance this loop breaks anytime soon.
If the Marvel complex exhausts you, that status quo might be instantly tiring. Yet, the "Black Panther" comics canon is comprised of incredible offerings from some of the most compelling writers and thinkers of color from the 20th and 21st centuries. To deep dive, is to encounter the authors of "Between the World and Me" and "Bad Feminism." There are offerings from a Hollywood director and the first black writer-editor in mainstream comics.

Film fans love to speculate on what canceled movie productions would have become. What would it have been like to see Steven Spielberg's science fiction epic "Robopocalypse," Quentin Tarantino's Vega Brothers movie, Stanley Kubrick's ambitious "Napoleon" biopic, or Alejandro Jodorowsky's "Dune" adaptation? Would they be everything fans imagined them to be? Or crushing disappointments? While it's fun to speculate, we can't put our faith into something that doesn't exist. Likely, these films wouldn't have lived up to fans' massive expectations.
