The CW this Friday night at 9/8c invites you to get a taste of Moonshine, an acquired Canadian dramedy set against the backdrop of financial hardship, small-town intrigue and a long-buried secret that threatens to annihilate a quirky clan once and for all.
Created by Sheri Elwood (Lucifer), Moonshine stars Jennifer Finnigan (Salvation) as Lidia, an architect and eldest sibling who wants to redevelop her family’s titular campground and exploit the valuable coastal property. Immediately, Lidia finds herself locking horns with younger sister Rhian (Reign‘s Anastasia Phillips), while other characters include Lidia’s sister Nora (Mr. D‘s...

Doug Richards, a former member of Wet Leg and ex-boyfriend of the band’s current vocalist Rhian Teasdale, has accused the indie rock breakout stars of not crediting him for songs he said he co-wrote.
In a new interview with The Times UK, Richards explained that he formed Wet Leg with Teasdale and Hester Chambers in 2019, but was kicked out of the group once his seven-year, on-and-off relationship with Teasdale came to an end for good.
Richards’ first gripe with his former bandmates is the name they continue to use. Teasdale and Chambers have shared a couple origin stories of “Wet Leg” — one being a game of combining two random emojis together, another referencing hometown slang — but Richards apparently remembers it differently.
“For years me and a couple of friends had lists of stupid band names,” he said. “Anytime you’d think of a funny combination of words you’d just write it down.

“Shadow and Bone” sharpshooter Jesper Fahey (Kit Young) keeps his guns close, but he keeps his past and true identity even closer.
In “Shadow and Bone” Season 2, Jesper and the Crows are back in action, set mostly against the plot of “Siege and Storm” and “Ruin and Rising” by author Leigh Bardugo. Jesper remains the talkative one who has a flare for theatrics and the dramatic, but it turns out that he still has parts of him left to be revealed.
“Jesper’s quite unique in the Grishaverse in that he’s kind of the only secret Grisha,” Young told TheWrap. “Everybody’s on some level, if not out and proud, then it’s known, it’s something that is known about people and so to be hiding that about yourself, as it says quite a lot, I think, in this world.”

On October 19, 2022, Netflix streamed the feature film “The School for Good and Evil” based on the novel of the same name written by Soman Chainani. The movie’s plot centers around two best friends who attend the titular school but get sent to different sides: Sophie to the Evil side and Agatha to the Good side. The sprawling cast is led by Sophia Anne Caruso and Sofia Wylie as Sophie and Agatha, respectively, with other A-listers including Laurence Fishburne as the School Master, Michelle Yeoh as Professor Emma Anemone, Kerry Washington as Professor Clarissa Dovey and Charlize Theron as Lady Leonora Lesso.
While critics were mixed on “The School for Good and Evil,” which runs for 147 minutes, audiences ate it up all around the world. In fact, it became the #1 film on Netflix the day after its release. Director/co-screenwriter Paul Feig has hinted that a sequel could even be on the horizon,...

The School for Good and Evil, Paul Feig’s fantasy adventure film based on Soman Chainani’s YA book series, explores the gray areas in fairy tale morality through a pair of girls who are whisked away to the titular Schools for Good and Evil (Sge for short). Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso), who has always considered herself something of an unappreciated Cinderella within the town of Gavaldon, longs to be the kind of princess she’s only read about in fairy tales. Agatha (Sofia Wylie), regarded as the town witch, only wants Sophie to be happy.
When Sophie writes to the Sge begging for enrollment, she and Agatha are transported there… but then Sophie gets dropped into the School for Evil, while Agatha wakes up at the School for Good. With the School Master Rhian (Laurence Fishburne) staunchly claiming that there are no mistakes at his school, each girl must...

Netflix's latest fantastical movie, "The School For Good and Evil," left us wanting more. The film follows two outcasts, Agatha (Sofia Wylie) and Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso), as they discover two mythical schools for heroes and villains. Sophie desperately wants to go to the School For Good, but when she inadvertently ends up enrolled in the School For Evil and Agatha ends up in the School For Good, it's up to Agatha to stop Sophia from being roped into an age-old plot to wipe out all Good once and for all.
Even if the cast - which boasts up-and-comers Wylie and Caruso alongside industry heavyweights like Kerry Washington, Charlize Theron, and Laurence Fishburne - didn't have unbelievably compelling chemistry (which they do), the open-ended conclusion to the film alone would have had us thirsting for a sequel.
So will there be a "School For Good and Evil" sequel? The...

Shaking off the dust of years in studio development hell, Soman Chainani’s series-spawning YA novel, The School for Good and Evil, lumbers its way to the screen trailing not only the baggage of Harry Potter and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, but that of too many knockoffs to list. Given his inexperience with fairy tale fantasy, it’s no surprise that Paul Feig exhibits zero feel for the genre’s world-building. Still, this is a uniquely tiresome slog — madly over-plotted, thuddingly derivative, insanely overlong and slathered in a big symphonic score that strives to infuse momentum into a saga with minimal emotional stakes.
Acquired and put into production by Netflix after it stalled at Universal, it’s a lavishly appointed feature, albeit in a cloying, candy-colored way, and maybe young teens and tweens who fancy themselves as princesses or witches might find something to enjoy.

Fresh off performing at Life Is Beautiful, Wet Leg have reworked their debut album track “Convincing” and covered Ashnikko’s “Daisy” for the British duo’s new Spotify Singles session.
Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers originally recorded “Convincing” along with the rest of their acclaimed debut LP, but in the band’s non-stop touring since then, the song — the lone track featuring Chambers on vocals — has taken on another life onstage; the Spotify session captures the track’s “shapeshift.”
