Hero the Band is looking for its big break. In a different kind of year, the Atlanta rock quartet, a recent signing for Jason Flom’s Lava Records, would be hitting the festival circuit to pick up an opening gig for a bigger act and build up their fanbase in person. With the pandemic stretching its dark shadow over the entire live music circuit, the band and the label have veered toward a much less orthodox plan: They’ll roll out an album in the form of a scripted narrative podcast.

The atmosphere was palpable during Justin Bieber: Seasons’ virtual Paleyfest LA panel. Justin Bieber and his fellow panel members let raw emotions flow freely while reflecting on the docu-series filming process. Panel members, most of whom compose Justin Bieber’s inner circle of confidantes, spoke to Justin and Hailey’s bravery for letting themselves be vulnerable on camera. For the Biebers, the experience making the tell-all special was a grueling but cathartic ordeal.
Justin Bieber lives a life like no other. He grew up in the spotlight since his teenage years where his every minutiae landed front-page headlines. In spite of his fame and success, his existence is inseparable from the human condition. The 10-episode series documented Justin’s battle with Lyme disease, mental health issues and drug addiction. In Seasons he wanted to tell an intimate, authentic story of his trials and – in the process – help others deal...

Today, YouTube premiered the first episode of Justin Bieber’s 10-part documentary Seasons, which mostly charts the creation of his forthcoming fifth album. For Bieber and his team, returning to YouTube is the perfect metaphor for his career: the video platform was how manager and confidant Scooter Braun accidentally discovered a 13-year-old Bieber on YouTube in 2007.
Now, at 25, Bieber has survived some of the lowest and highest points a pop star can endure: struggles with addiction, messy public break-ups, and career uncertainty have coexisted alongside hit singles, sold-out tours and becoming a household name.

In a typical post-awards show scene, two music professionals start a friendly conversation at a bar. “I start telling him, ‘I’m the king of all jingles,’” says Jared Gutstadt, co-founder of Jingle Punks, the venerable production music house that he launched 10 years ago.“I thought I was talking to a complete stranger.” Turns out he was chatting up Justin Bieber, who was himself interested in the jingle game. As Gutstadt recalls, the pop star “was riffing on, like, a Wrigley’s commercial, going, ‘What if I did a pitch and nobody knew my voice was on it?’”
Waving over a couple of friends, the Biebs proceeded to change Gutstadt’s life.“In that brief interaction I met Poo Bear and Maejor, who I’ve worked with more in the last three or four years than anyone outside the company,” Gutstadt says.

The multi-talented YouTube star Rudy Mancuso is continuing his musical foray with "Mama" -- the third single from his forthcoming album, and the first song that he has released from the project without a collaborator. Previously, Mancuso teamed with girlfriend Maia Mitchell and noted writer/performer Poo Bear on singles "Magic" and "Black & White," respectively.
In "Mama," Mancuso reflects on life lessons learned as a result of succumbing to temptation. The music video is surreal and sad, with Mancuso dancing alongside a fleet of animal mascots who attempt to lure him toward the very vices that his mother warns against, like drinking and smoking. He also gets repeatedly slapped in the face in a bid to jar him out of these unhealthy patterns.

After appearing in a Rudy Mancuso sketch last week, pop megastar Justin Bieber is once again collaborating with digital creators in the Shots Studios family. Writer/performer Poo Bear and Bieber -- who is an investor in the photo app-turned-digital studio -- have tapped Shots creator Hannah Stocking to star in the lyric video for their new single, "Hard 2 Face Reality," which also features the rapper Jay Electronica.
"Hard 2 Face Reality" hails from Poo Bear’s forthcoming debut album, Bearthday Music. The multi-hyphenate, né Jason Boyd, is best known for penning the Bieber smashes "Where Are Ü Now" and "What Do You Mean?," and also guested on Mancuso's debut single, "Black & White." In the lyric video for "Hard 2 Face Reality," Stocking is cheated on by her boyfriend, comforted by two of her friends (played by fellow digital luminaries and Shots creators Lele Pons and Inanna Sarkis), and then finds new love.

Hitmakers DJ Khaled and Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd recently teamed up for an anthem. No, it’s not a new single by Justin Bieber, but rather, a baseball banger: the theme to the Miami Marlins, “Just Gettin’ Started.”
The two performed the song, which was written with Jingle Punks’ Jared Gutstadt and Sasha Sirota, on Opening Day at Marlins Park when Miami faced the Chicago Cubs (never mind that the Marlins lost). Marlins CEO Derek Jeter presided over the local activities.
“Derek Jeter wanted to have a song that represents all the different cultures of the city — pop, latin, urban — with an anthemic sports catch phrase,” Gutstadt tells Variety. “And from there, we sprung into action. Poo Bear and I wrote the song in late December and slowly put the pieces together. … Poo Bear really led the talent procurement side of things by bringing in his amazing relationships with Nicky Jam,...

The nominees are in for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, and music's biggest night will feature some of your favorite artists ...though some were snubbed.
Singer-songwriter Andra Day announced the four major categories -- Best New Artist, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Album Of The Year -- on Tuesday's CBS This Morning.
As far as snubs go, Ed Sheeran was only nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for his track, "Shape of You," to the shock of many of his fans. Lady Gaga and Kesha also received minimal nominations, despite the popularity of their albums.
However, Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar earned quite a few Grammy nods, as well as Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" song that features Justin Bieber.

Noted digital funnyman and uber-talented musician Rudy Mancuso has released today his debut single, Black & White.
The piano-based pop tune was co-written by Mancuso and Poo Bear -- renowned for his contributions to the hit Justin Bieber singles Where Are U Now and What Do You Mean? -- and who also sings with Mancuso on the track. Black & White is the first of several songs that Mancuso and Poo Bear (né Jason Boyd) are releasing alongside Stem -- a tech startup that helps musicians and online creators track viewership stats and fairly distribute revenues among various collaborators across multiple distribution platforms.
