On the day when Brooklyn Nets coach Steve Nash was fired after his team started the season 2-5, the talking heads on TNT’s Emmy-winning Inside the NBA found themselves talking about Nets player Kyrie Irving and the irony that, while Nash was fired for a record that may or may not have been entirely his fault, Irving has faced no official sanction last week after sharing an Amazon link to a movie that contains antisemitic tropes.
It’s not the first time Irving has shared information about a controversial video. Last month, the same day Alex Jones went on trial for his false claims about the Sandy Hook school massacre, the Nets superstar point guard shared a 2002 video of Alex Jones decrying a “New World Order,” to his Instagram story. Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar — viewed by many as the greatest player to have ever graced an NBA roster — later called Irving out.

The 2022 US Open is officially underway, and so far, it's been a star-studded event, with tons of celebrities heading to Flushing, Queens - especially back on night one to watch Serena Williams begin playing in what she's said was her last professional tennis tournament. On Aug. 29, Williams faced off against Danka Kovinić in the first round and beat her in straight sets. Of course, Williams's husband Alexis Ohanian and daughter Olympia were on hand for the special night, but they weren't the only big-name attendees in the stands. Other celebs like Trevor Noah, Naomi Watts, Ben Simmons, Bella Hadid, Hugh Jackman, Anthony Anderson, Ashley Graham, Queen Latifah, and more have all attended the Grand Slam tournament over its ongoing two-week run.
On Aug. 31, Williams continued her victory streak when she deftly defeated Estonia's Anett Kontaveit, the No. 2 seed, in the second round of the tournament. Unfortunately, Williams fell in the third round on Sept.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver criticized the New York City mandate that prevents unvaccinated athletes on area teams — specifically the Brooklyn Nets’ Kyrie Irving — from playing in home games, yet allows unvaccinated players on visiting teams to take the court at the city’s arenas.
“This law in New York, the oddity of it to me is that it only applies to home players,” Silver told ESPN’s Get Up on Wednesday. “I think if ultimately that rule is about protecting people who are in the arena, it just doesn’t...

The 2019 NBA Finals are in full swing. Fans cheered for their favorite teams all season long, but it was the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors that made it to end. While there's always a little trash-talking off the court, some fans take these rivalries to a whole new level. Jimmy Kimmel proved this to be true by having a few players and owners read hateful social media posts about themselves for Thursday's segment of "Mean Tweets." The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host recruited some big NBA names, too, including Kevin Durant, Charles Barkley, Ben Simmons, Chris Bosh, Bradley Beal, Dirk Nowitzki and Joel Embiid. Steve Ballmer, Jrue Holiday, Paul George, Kyle Lowry, Kemba Walker,...

It’s time for the 2019 NBA finals, as the Toronto Raptors take on the defending champion Golden State Warriors. Or, as Jimmy Kimmel put it during the NBA Game Night primetime special, “A team of young Canadian upstarts – versus – the team that’s gonna win.”
Kimmel was in rare form on his monologue. Some of his better lines:
*** “The Warriors are super motivated to win this series. Cause – as you know, when you collect three consecutive championship rings – you can trade them in for a championship necklace which very few players have.”
*** :”The good news for the Raptors is – all-star forward Kevin Durant is out for the game with a calf injury – which means the Warriors will be force to play with only three future Hall of Famers in their lineup.”
***. At this point, the Warriors are like the Avengers. We all know they’re going to win – we...

The NBA playoffs kick off this weekend, but there is one notable absence: LeBron James.
For the first time since 2005, the league’s most recognizable player will be sitting at home when the postseason tips off, ending a disastrous first season with the Los Angeles Lakers. But how much will that impact the Nielsen ratings for ESPN/ABC and Turner?
“Not having him in the playoffs? Obviously that is going to hurt,” Reggie Miller, an analyst for TNT, said during a press call earlier this week. But he adds that the Golden State Warriors going for a three-peat — and four in the past five years — is one of many still-compelling storylines this postseason.
“What’s fun now is seeing who wants to take the mantle LeBron has created,” fellow TNT analyst Chris Webber added. “The Playoffs overall are going to be so exciting and competitive that the casual fan will...

Ben Simmons and Kendall Jenner just learned how tragedy can bring a couple closer together ... because lovebirds spent some quality time moments after Ben was assaulted on the hoops court. By a vicious, savage, disrespectful, jaw-dropping dunk. It happened during the Knicks vs. 76ers game Wednesday night, when Knicks rookie Kevin Knox delivered a two-handed destruction to Simmons that shook social media to its core (which is pretty easy to do).
